Chapter 1352: Protocol and Hospitality ( 1352 )
Chapter 1352: Protocol and Hospitality ( 1352 )
Elven Nation.
Northern Border Town.
Celine and her escort passed through the huge, intricately carved wooden gate of the Elven border town.
Once inside, Celine couldn’t help but let out a soft gasp of wonder.
The town was nestled beneath the sprawling canopy of ancient trees, their branches forming natural arches overhead, dappled sunlight filtering through the leaves and casting gentle patterns on the ground below.
Shops and stalls were set up in the open spaces beneath the trees, their wares displayed on polished wooden tables, Elves moved gracefully through the streets, their movements fluid and serene, their voices soft and melodic as they chatted, laughed, and went about their daily lives.
Celine’s eyes sparkled with excitement, her princess-like composure slipping for a moment as she took in the breathtaking scenery.
It’s beautiful... So this is an Elven Nation...
Just then, a small group of elves approached, led by a dignified elven man riding a majestic horned horse, flanked by several guards on similar mounts. They stopped a few feet away, and the man dismounted gracefully, offering a polite, respectful bow.
"Welcome to the Elven Nation. I am High Councillors Nyvorlas, a representative of the Royal Palace. We have been informed of your arrival, Princess Celine."
Celine smiled gracefully, dismounting her horse with practiced elegance. Her two escorts followed suit, standing respectfully behind her as she offered a dignified curtsy to High Councillor Nyvorlas.
"Thank you for your warm welcome, High Councillor. It is an honor to be received by someone of your standing."
Nyvorlas nodded, his expression calm but formal.
"Unfortunately, Princess, we cannot escort you directly to Armand ourselves. However, we have already informed the Armand representatives of your arrival. You will need to wait here until they arrive to escort you personally."
Celine’s smile remained gracious. "I do not mind waiting. I understand that such arrangements take time, and I appreciate the hospitality your nation has already shown us, and I am grateful for the opportunity to rest and experience a glimpse of Elven hospitality."
Nyvorlas gave a slight, respectful bow. "It is our honor to offer you our hospitality, Princess Celine. We have prepared a residence suitable for your rank. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. The Elven Nation values peace and proper protocol above all else, and we must ensure that all diplomatic matters are handled with the utmost care."
Celine offered another graceful curtsy, her voice sincere. "Thank you, High Councillor, for preparing such hospitality on such short notice. We are truly grateful."
Faelar stepped forward, offering a respectful bow to the High Councillor. "With your permission, High Councillor, I will return to my duties on the border. Princess Celine, I wish you a pleasant and peaceful stay in our lands."
Celine smiled warmly, inclining her head toward Faelar. "Thank you, Warden Faelar, for your escort and for ensuring our journey went smoothly. Your diligence and professionalism will be remembered."
Just as Faelar nodded and was about to depart, a soldier rushed toward High Councillor Nyvorlas, holding out a mana talkie and signaling urgently.
"Hmm? What is it, Adriele?"
The soldier simply pointed at the mana talkie in his hand, then gestured toward Nyvorlas’s own device at his waist.
Nyvorlas frowned, tilting his head before reaching for his mana talkie. He realized it was turned off and quickly switched it on.
A booming voice immediately came through.
"NYVORLAS!!!"
"Ah... E-Esteemed Father..."
"How many times have I told you not to turn off your mana talkie?! Especially during an important mission like this! Keep it on at all times!"
"I... I’m sorry, Father..."
A long, tired exhale came through before his father continued. "Princess Lyzia is on her way with her escort. She should be arriving soon. You are to ensure her safety at all costs. Do you understand?"
"E-eh? Princess Lyzia is coming? Why?"
"Don’t question too much, Nyvorlas. This is an order from the Royal Palace. Her Highness has received permission from His Majesty the High King and the High Queen. We also received a direct message from Elder Queen Mylezra regarding this matter. Do not question further, just follow orders."
"Ah... understood."
"Now, who is with you at the moment?"
Nyvorlas lowered his voice slightly. "Warden Faelar is here."
There was a brief pause before the call ended. A moment later, Faelar’s own mana talkie crackled to life, a booming voice echoing through.
"Faelar!"
Faelar flinched, quickly raising his device to respond. "Yes, Commander!"
"You and your team will be reassigned. You are to remain in the border town and assist in escorting both Princess Celine and Princess Lyzia during Princess Celine’s stay. Ensure their safety at all times. This order comes directly from the Royal Palace."
Faelar straightened, his expression turning serious. "Understood, Commander. We will carry out our duty without fail."
"Mm. Good. Your forest border patrol duties will be taken over by another unit for the coming days. You are to focus entirely on escorting both princesses and safeguarding them alongside my son."
"Understood, Commander."
The Commander’s voice turned stern. "I don’t want to hear about any problems, you hear me? If any incident occurs due to your negligence or carelessness, both you and Nyvorlas will face my wrath before the Royal punishment even begins."
Faelar stiffened, his voice slightly strained. "U-Understood... Uncle..."
"Hmm? What did you say, Faelar?"
"N-Nothing, Commander!" Faelar flinched, quickly correcting himself.
The call ended, and a moment later, Nyvorlas’s mana talkie crackled to life again.
"Nyvorlas."
"Yes, Father?"
"The arrangements for Princess Celine’s accommodations will be changed. Since Princess Lyzia is arriving, she will be staying in the same guest wing. The noble house that was originally assigned to host Princess Celine has been informed of the change. Make sure everything is prepared accordingly."
"Eh? B-But the house is still in a mess, Father..."
"Then arrange it faster! Assign the soldiers and the staff to help and get it done quickly! No excuses, no delays! I want everything ready before Princess Lyzia arrives!"
"I... I understand, Esteemed Father."
"Good. And keep your mana talkie on at all times. If I find it turned off again, you’ll be training with the border scouts for a month. Understood?"
"Yes, Father..."
The call ended with a sharp click.
Faelar guided his mount closer to Nyvorlas, lowering his voice. "Your father is terrifying as always..."
Nyvorlas shook his head, exhaling. "He’s always like that when it comes to duty." He turned to Faelar, his expression shifting back to focus. "Bring the soldiers to the second noble house and prepare everything. We need it ready before Princess Lyzia arrives."
Faelar nodded, straightening in his saddle. "As you command, High Councillor."
