Chapter 1386: Kuchiki for Mimi ( 1386 )

Evening.

Outside Javier’s personal workshop.

The sky was painted in hues of deep orange and soft purple as the sun dipped lower on the horizon. The air was cool and calm, carrying the faint scent of smoked wood and fresh herbs, mingling with the warmth radiating from the portable magic grill that had just been set up.

Liana stood at the center of the preparation area, her sleeves rolled up as she arranged slabs of seasoned meat on a large platter. Her movements were calm and practiced, her eyes occasionally drifting toward the estate’s entrance.

Nearby, Gloria was slicing fruits with quick, precise strokes, a content smile on her lips.

Felicia was setting out plates and utensils on a low table, her tail swaying gently behind her.

Delya sat cross-legged on a cushion, her usual chocolate jar resting beside her as she watched the preparations with dreamy eyes.

Mimi darted between everyone like a playful breeze. She skipped over to Gloria, flipping a slice of fruit into the air and catching it with her mouth before laughing and darting away. She circled around Gracelle, who was carefully arranging napkins, and gave her a quick, playful poke on the butt, making Gracelle yelp and spin around with a flushed face.

Before Gracelle could react, Mimi was already gone, sliding up behind Delya and giving her a light slap on the butt before giggling mischievously and dashing off toward the grill.

Liana placed the first thick slice of marinated meat onto the grill. The moment it hit the heated surface, a loud, satisfying sizzle erupted, sending a fragrant cloud of smoke curling into the evening air.

Mimi leaned forward instantly, her eyes locked onto the searing meat, her lower lip caught between her teeth, her tail swaying in barely contained anticipation.

“Ne ne~”

“Hmm? Yes, Mimi?”

“When will it be ready, nya?”

Liana smiled softly, placing another slab of meat onto the grill with practiced ease. “I just put the first piece on, Mimi. It’ll take a little while.”

“Eh? But Mimi’s hungry, nya…”

Liana glanced at her with a knowing look. “You should blame yourself for skipping lunch.”

Mimi pursed her lips, pointing toward her newly built treehouse in the distance. “But Mimi was busy, nya! I was building something important!”

Liana smirked, her eyes glinting with playful teasing as she continued placing another slab onto the grill without missing a beat.

“The Armand carpenters are the ones who did all the work, not you, Mimi. Even they stopped to eat lunch, you know.”

Mimi’s lips pursed into a pout, her tail drooping slightly. “B… but…”

Liana picked up a small, thin slice of meat and placed it on the grill. It hissed and crackled, the edges crisping beautifully as the rich, savory aroma wafted upward.

“This one will be ready in just a moment.”

“Ehehe~ Thanks, nya!” Mimi’s face lit up as she hugged Liana’s side, rubbing her cheek affectionately against her arm.

Gloria exhaled softly, adjusting her glasses with a knowing smile. “Liana… doting on her too much will only encourage her to skip meals more often, you know.”

Liana smiled gently. “It’s okay, just for this once.” She glanced down at Mimi, her tone turning slightly firmer. “But don’t skip any more meals after this, and don’t forget that you’re one of Young Master’s wives. We need to be strong and healthy to support him.”

“Okay, nya! Ehehehe!” Mimi kept waiting, her eyes fixed on the sizzling meat. She glanced over at the table and spotted a jar of Liana’s special homemade sauce. She skipped over, grabbed it, and returned to the grill with a small plate in hand, licking her lips eagerly.

Liana smiled and shook her head, turning her attention back to the grill. Suddenly, a large shadow fell over them. Buddy stood there, puffing out his chest as he looked down at all the meat on the grill with a smug smirk.

“Cuquawked!!”

Liana glanced up, narrowing her eyes at Buddy. “Since when did you get here? And where is Young Master?”

“Cuquawked!!”

Before anyone could react, Buddy’s head darted forward, his beak snatching every single piece of meat off the grill in one swift motion. He gulped them down whole, let out a triumphant, seagull-like squawk of laughter, and bolted away, leaving behind only the scent of grilled meat and a very hungry Mimi staring at the empty grill in shock.

“Nyaaaa!!!! Buddyyyyyyy!!”

Buddy darted around the courtyard, his beak still smacking from the stolen meat. He stopped at a safe distance, flapping his wings proudly before puffing out his chest and strutting back and forth with an exaggerated, smug stride, clearly mocking everyone.

Liana exhaled slowly, pinching the bridge of her nose. Gloria shook her head, a resigned smile on her lips. Felicia stood nearby, her tail flicking in mild amusement. Delya tilted her head, watching with her usual dreamy expression, while Gracelle simply blinked, unsure whether to laugh or sigh.

Liana rolled her eyes and called out, “Buddy! Don’t just steal the meat like that!”

“Cuquawked!” (Too slow, elf witch! Master’s pekko is always number one!)

Mimi puffed her cheeks, her eyes fixed on the now-empty grill, when the sound of approaching footsteps caught everyone’s attention.

A familiar voice called out, “What happened?”

Everyone turned toward the voice. Javier was walking toward them with a calm stride, a large paper bag slung over his shoulder and another smaller one in his hand.

Liana smiled fondly, setting down the tongs and clasping her hands in front of her, offering a gentle, respectful bow. “Welcome home, Young Master.”

Gloria followed with a graceful bow, her expression warm. “Welcome back, Young Master.”

Felicia offered a graceful princess curtsy, her tail swaying gently. “We’re glad you’re home safely.”

Delya curtsied with her usual dreamy smile, her eyes half-lidded with affection. “Welcome home, Danna-sama.”

Gracelle fidgeted, her eyes darting away before she mumbled, her cheeks flushing, “W-Welcome home… H-Husband…”

Mimi stomped forward, stopping right in front of Javier and pointing dramatically toward Buddy, who was still bobbing his head and squawking mockingly in the distance.

“Buddy stole Mimi’s meat, nya! Mimi’s hungry!”

Javier smiled and shook his head, patting Mimi’s head gently. “There, there~” He handed her the small paper bag. “I bought this from the Beastkin Nation.”

“Nya? What is it?” Mimi bit her lower lip in excitement, her tail swaying gently as she opened the paper bag and peeked inside. Her eyes widened, and she let out a joyful shout.

“Nyaaaaa!! Kuchiki!”

Felicia’s eyes widened, and she rushed over to peek into the bag. “Kuchiki?!”

Mimi pulled the bag away, hugging it protectively. “This is for Mimi, nya! Husband bought it specially for Mimi!!”

Felicia grabbed the edge of the bag with a sweet, terrifying smile. “He’s my husband too, Mimi. He bought it for me as well, not just for you.”

“Nyaaaa! Let go!” Mimi grabbed one of the treats, stuffed it into her mouth, and bolted away with the bag clutched to her chest.

Felicia bit her lower lip in frustration, her tail flicking. Javier chuckled softly, setting the large paper bag down on the table before pulling out another small bag.

“Here, Felicia. I bought the same one for you too. I saw it at the market and thought you’d like it.”

Felicia’s eyes softened as she took the bag, a genuine smile spreading across her lips. “Thank you, Husband.”

Javier glanced around at everyone, his smile warm. “I bought something for everyone, so don’t worry.”
