Chapter 1459: Spellcasting Theory vs. Mana Control ( 1459 )
Gloria’s gaze sharpened, her voice carrying a subtle edge.
"Our husband will surely protect every one of his girls. But that doesn’t mean you should rely solely on his protection. There is a man out there, who has set his sights on you. He is not a good man. He is cunning, ruthless, and obsessed with getting what he wants. He will not hesitate to use any means to pursue you, to corner you, to take you by force if necessary. You must be strong enough to resist, to survive, and to fight back if the time ever comes."
Celine swallowed hard, her voice soft but steady. "I... I understand, Big Sister Gloria."
"Mm. Good." Gloria nudged her glasses up, her expression softening slightly.
"But don’t think too much about it for now. Even while our husband is away on his mission, the Armand personnel, guards, battle maids, and all Armand units have been placed on full alert by the Sovereign himself. No one will be able to reach you here. And even if they tried..."
A confident smile spread across her lips. "All of us wives will protect each other. Liana made that promise, and we all share that vow. So as long as you are part of this family, no enemy will hurt you without facing all of us."
Gloria glanced at Liana before turning her gaze back to Celine. She shifted her weight slightly, causing her full, firm breasts to bounce and jiggle gently under her maid uniform. Celine’s eyes widened, her gaze drifting toward Gloria’s chest before she quickly looked away, a faint blush creeping up her cheeks.
A subtle sense of defeat washed over Celine as she compared herself to the woman before her. Gloria was stunning, a perfect half-elf, half-human beauty with flawless features, sharp, intelligent eyes, and a gracefully curved figure. Her waist was slender, her hips elegant, her posture radiating confidence and poise.
"I don’t usually do this," Gloria said, her voice light but carrying a hint of warmth. "Liana mentioned that I shouldn’t assist you. She wants you to figure things out on your own. But... I’m feeling generous today, so I’ll let it slide."
Celine’s eyes lit up with gratitude. She nodded quickly, bowing slightly with both hands clasped in front of her.
"T... thank you, Big Sister Gloria. I truly appreciate your help."
Gloria smiled, a gentle warmth in her eyes. "Of course. Tell me~ do you know the basics of mana control?"
Celine nodded confidently. "Yes, Big Sister. Mana control is about activating the mana circle within one’s body and channeling mana through the proper pathways to cast spells. The more refined the circle, the more efficient the spell. It’s also important to visualize the desired effect and match it with the correct incantation and gestures."
A heavy silence fell over the group.
Felicia stared at Celine in disbelief, her expression blank. Delya let out a defeated exhale, shaking her head softly.
Gloria blinked, her smile frozen for a moment before she let out a quiet, amused chuckle. "Arara~ We really do have a problem here~"
"Eh? Am I wrong?" Celine glanced up at Gloria, who was just smiling faintly before Gloria turned, crossing one arm under her breast, her other elbow resting on the cross arm, palm on her cheek, and glanced at Liana in the distance.
"Liana~ We have a huge problem here~"
Liana turned her glance, her brow furrowing slightly. "What problem?"
Gloria gestured toward Celine. "Her understanding of basic mana control is completely different from what we know."
"Hmm? Really?" Liana moved toward Celine, stopping in front of her with her arms crossed. She looked down at Celine with a calm, assessing gaze. "Show me how you control your mana."
Celine nodded before raising her palm and activating a skill.
"Invisibility."
Liana let out a long, weary exhale, pinching the bridge of her nose before easily grabbing Celine’s arm, making her reappear the moment she touched her.
"That’s not basic mana control. That’s spellcasting theory. Mana control is the foundation before any circle is activated. It’s about feeling the mana inside you, guiding it with your will, and shaping it with your intent. The magic circle is just a tool that uses that control to produce a specific effect. If you don’t have control first, the circle is useless."
Gloria smiled softly, stepping closer. "Look like it’s going to take a while to teach her properly~ I’m afraid that’s the theory they teach in Divinity’s royal academy, not how it actually works in practice."
Liana glanced over at Lyzia, who was still trying her best to balance the heavy tray after removing the pots and refreshments, leaving only the empty steel tray. She called out, her voice calm but firm.
"Lyzia?"
The moment Liana called her name, Lyzia’s concentration shattered. The heavy tray slipped from her trembling hands and clattered loudly onto the floor.
"Ngghh!!! Mou!" Lyzia stomped her feet, glaring at the tray on the ground before puffing her cheeks and shooting a frustrated look at Liana. "What now, Big Sister!?"
"Just come... here..." Liana’s face turned serious, making Lyzia flinch before slowly shuffling toward her.
"What now, Sister?"
Liana gestured toward Celine. "Show her how to do basic mana control."
"Hnn hnn! Easy~" Lyzia puffed her chest out, striking a confident pose with her fist against her chest. She glanced at Celine and wiggled her eyebrows with a smug smile. "Watch closely, best friend~ I’ll show you how it’s done!"
She raised her palm, her expression focused. A soft, beautiful green glow began to emanate from her hand, swirling gently around her fingers like living vines. The mana flowed in elegant, graceful patterns, weaving through the air with a natural rhythm. She twirled her wrist, and the green light spiraled upward, forming a delicate, shimmering leaf-like shape.
Just as Lyzia was about to say something, Liana’s hand shot out, chopping the top of her head with a loud smack.
"Gihhh! What was that for!?" Lyzia flinched, squatting down and rubbing her head as the beautiful green magic vanished instantly.
"That’s not basic mana control!" Liana shouted, her voice sharp with frustration. "That’s spellcasting! Ugh!" She pinched the bridge of her nose, letting out a long, weary, and deeply frustrated exhale. "This is going to take a while to properly teach them... I can already feel the headache coming..."
