Reborn as the Genius Son of the Richest Family

Chapter 1379: Aetrox

Chapter 1379: Aetrox

Michael looked up, just as the hooded figure appeared looming above the skies. And immediately, he knew that he was facing a figure that was beyond that of his own magical prowess. A 9-star wizard!

A strange magical circle, one barely even visible in the air, appeared below Michael’s feet. After all, it seemed to have been made out of fog and mist entirely.

It encompassed almost the entirety of the Chasm, making it so that everyone was included in this magical spell.

And at the very center of this magical circle, was where the wooden chest was located.

It was very clear what this hooded figure was aiming towards.

Someone finally took the bait, Micheal rejoiced.

The Mystic Master hovering above in the clouds waved his hands, creating a sort of haze and fog that obscured everything in the Chasm. It was as if Michael found himself back in that grim and dark forest of the Sanctum. Except, this time, the fog around him obscured every single sense of his body, making it only extend by a few meters around him.

Michael could see anything. He couldn’t hear anything. He couldn’t even feel the heartbeats of the Rebornian soldiers around him.

And he was sure that they couldn’t see him either. They must be feeling themselves completely isolated, with nothing but a hazy white mist encompassing their entire vision.

As expected, dealing with a Mystic Master was no easy task. Michael found himself having a hard time tracking the hooded figure through this very hazy fog that overruled every single one of his senses.

Usually, he could simply use his Supreme Talent to see through the magical mana in his surroundings. It would have let him pick out the Light mana from the Earth mana, allowing him to see where his opponent or target would be no matter what kind of illusory magic spell that they created.

However, the Mystic Master was nowhere to be found.

It was as if his entire body was made out of mist and fog and smoke! Even the mana that made up his body were purely made out of those elements, making it extremely hard to distinguish between the fog and the figure.

Even his Mini Drones would not be able to see through this kind of 9-star magic. They would only overwhelm him even more.

Certainly, they could scan through every inch of this fog for the figure hiding amongst the mist. But that would take a lot of time. And Michael had a feeling that the Mystic Master would have already been long gone past by the time they had scoured the entire hazy environment.

So, Michael had to become crafty with his own resources.

A golden aura emanated out of his body as he unleashed his Nascent Influence around him. This golden aura fought against the misty fog, making it less and less dense. Though, eventually, the mist still won out.

But for Michael, this was enough.

As his golden aura spread around him, it eventually reached the other Rebornian soldiers positioned in the Chasm. They became a beacon tower for Michael’s golden aura, making it stronger as it connected with each and every Rebornian in the area.

Eventually, the Rebornians found the fog around them lifting ever so slightly. At the very least, they could see their fellow soldiers that were only a few meters around themselves.

With the golden Nascent Influence spreading farther and wider, Michael felt himself in control for once.

And so, he began to alter the reality around himself. Letting the world adapt to the situation that they found themselves in.

The Rebornian soldiers, the Red Mankeys, the musicians, they all found themselves empowered with a new kind of power.

They slashed their weapons, performing the Eternal Flame swordstyle as if they were in battle.

The fire that erupted from their blades created luminance within the fog, creating even more visibility within the misty haze. Not only that, but the smoke from the flames was able to fight through the fog, extinguishing it, letting it condense back into water and clearing the opaqueness of the air.

With the musicians playing their unique, uplifting rhythm, the Rebornian soldiers were able to cleave through a large portion of the misty fog.

Finally, part of the fog cleared, revealing the silhouette of a figure hovering above the Rebornian soldiers.

In his hands was a wooden chest. The very same one that Michael won from their Sanctum duel against the EoV company.

Michael looked at the hooded figure, and the hooded figure looked back at him.

"Impressive. Now I see how you were able to defeat Draco and his soldiers," said the Mystic Master.

"You flatter me," Michael replied. "But even with your words, I’m afraid I cannot let you take that Antique from us. I would like to have it back."

The Mystic Master revealed his face under the hood. And as it turned out, he was not a man at all.

He had an eagle for a head, with the body of a human.

His feathers fluttered under the breeze of the mist. "My name is Aetrox. Master of wind. Commander of the skies. The 4th Mystic Master of the Guild of Arcana."

Michael looked at Aetrox, finding himself surprised. He’d never seen a demi-human like him before.

"This Antique will be of better use in my hands. My research will allow me to return magic to the world. I see that you’re not that bad with magic yourself. Wouldn’t you like to have this part of reality restored?

It is only through me that this can happen. Trust me."

Michael looked at Aetrox, wondering if he was a man that he could trust.

"What will you do with it?" he asked. "Tell me the truth, and I will consider it."

Mana doesn’t lie. Even a Mystic Master will find their own magic particles wavering the moment that they had to tell a lie.

"I need it... I need it to save a friend of mine. His name is Lichtenstein."
