Chapter 1426: Battle of Influences

Elizabeth was at the very last spot on the racing circuit. It was a handicap that she herself suggested to Michael.

After all, she didn’t want to give the others an excuse when they lost to her.

Sitting inside her F1 car, she took a deep breath. She looked at the wheel in front of her and double-checked the settings of the car, before nodding.

Then, she looked at the front.

The other drivers were a lot more lax than her. They were chatting and conversing with each other as they waited for the flag to be thrown down. There were even some sly jabs at her from the other competitors.

Something about women and Body Formation cultivators.

Elizabeth didn’t mind it. In fact, it only bolstered her confidence. It made her more driven, more hungry for the win.

She was used to being underestimated. She thrived on it. She couldn’t wait to see the look on their faces when she left them behind on her smoke.

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

Up front, the lights began to open one by one, until finally, a green light signalled everyone to accelerate forwards.

Elizabeth stepped on the pedal and let her car speed forwards at an insane acceleration.

Immediately, she turned her car as she maneuvered behind one of her competitors. She left them behind and began to look for the next opportunity.

At the start of this race, she was in 20th place. But just a few seconds after it started, she was already in 17th place.

Meanwhile, a strange bulky car sped towards first place. It looked like a monster truck back from Michael’s old world.

This automobile had large wheels made out of nothing but pure steel.

Yes, steel. Not rubber.

This was one of the advantages of using Nascent Spirit Influence. They changed the properties of steel in order to make it as elastic as rubber, thereby making their wheels much more durable without losing on the traction!

Just then, a car with a sharp pointed tip sped right next to the monster truck. It tried to nudge the car away from the truck, with spikes targeting the monster truck’s wheels.

It did nothing to the steel wheels.

"HAHAHAHA! Look at my creation," said Erich Hephaestus. "Nothing can stop it!"

It was at this moment that the path suddenly curved. The monster truck immediately hit on the brakes, causing it to decelerate.

But then, beside it, a car continued to speed forwards. And just as it was about to crash on the curve, strange metal spiderlegs began to unfurl from atop the car. One of the legs stabbed onto the road, using it as a leverage to swing through the curve without losing too much speed.

"KURGH!" Erich cursed as he looked to his neighboring garage.

There, Euthenia smiled. "Haha, not so fast, brother. You always think that just because something is durable means that it is the beast. My arachnid automobile will show you that versatility is more important!"

Right now, both cars were at the 1st and 2nd place respectively. They clashed against each other, and yet, their speed didn’t get hampered.

It defied reality. Erich’s monster truck no longer braked in front of a curve. He simply let it crash onto the walls and use them as a way to move through the curve.

This should have wrecked their car. It should have totalled their engine so that it wouldn’t even run anymore.

But Erich infused it with his own Nascent Influence. It was beyond the rules of reality now. It transcended it.

And Euthenia’s spider car used its limbs to simply jump through obstacles and multiple curves. Driving through the dirt should have lessened their speed. But with the spider limbs, they just hovered above it.

At this point, a lot of people began to cheer loudly at the two Hepheasteus cars. It entertained them greatly.

"As expected of the two Hepheasteus heirs! Their cars are a work of art!"

"I would like to buy one exactly like that! Butler, contact them and tell them I would like to purchase one for myself."

"They’re going to win— no, wait! Look!"

It was at this moment that a car overtook the monster truck and the spider car in one go!

"You’re not going to get away that easily!" Erich shouted. "Crush that guy!"

The monster truck revved its engines, before plumes of fire billowed out of its exhaust. It accelerated towards the new car and ran over it.

"Hahahaha! That’s what you—WHAT?!"

Erich’s triumphant words were caught in his throat as the car continued to speed forwards, despite the monster truck rolling over it.

The car literally passed the monster truck. It was as if the car was a ghost, unaffected by anything that tried to make contact with it.

The ghost car accelerated forwards, leaving the other two behind. It passed through the barriers, completely bypassing the curve entirely!

"Whose car is that?!"

"That’s... that’s from the Oscorpes!"

Worcester Oscorpe stayed in his seat in the VIP section. He was quiet, and didn’t say anything. He just let the car drive.

It was at this point that the crowd once again got worked up.

"Look! That part of the track is weird!"

"There’s something going on there. Why is there... water on the road?!"

Suddenly, the ghost car, the monster truck, and the spider car all felt themselves slowing down.

They were mired by a sudden onslaught of muddy water. It pushed against them, slowing them down considerably.

"Even the ghost car?!"

It was at this point that a new car emerged to take the first place. It was a car with an eerie similarity to a ship. And because of that, it sailed through the muddy waters with ease.

Not only that, but the water seemed to have the opposite effect on the ship car. It accelerated it forwards.

"You’ve had your fun. Now, it’s time for the Goldstones to show our worth."

It seemed that this sudden muddy water was a Nascent Influence made by the Goldstones!
