Chapter 1430: Foil
Chapter 1430: Foil
The faster they rose, the faster they could fall.
It would only take one mistake for all of that goodwill and reputation that they had gathered to suddenly dissipate.
This is how Worcester will try to bring us down, Michael reminded himself.
He’s going to make sure that people realize that the Rebornian products were not trustworthy. That they were dangerous.
Of course, at this point, the Elite Society had no idea how the Rebornian technology worked. In their eyes, it was probably even more chaotic and unpredictable than magic.
And people tended to be more fearful of the things that they didn’t understand. So, if Worcester gave people a reason to fear the Rebornian products, it would spiral into pure distrust in the Reborn company
And if that thought began to propagate through the Elite Society, then their expansion here would be dead on arrival.
"BU TO TO! I FOUND IT!" screamed one of the Shadow Orcs monitoring the myriad of screens in their headquarters.
He pointed towards a specific part of the circuit where a large television screen was positioned near the road. It currently displayed drone shot footage of the cars overtaking each other on the curve.
Michael used the perspective of his Mini Drone and focused on that television screen.
And there, hidden through an Aubility Power that allowed him to hide underneath the fabric of reality, was a Nascent Spirit cultivator sitting atop the screen.
Immediately, Michael and the Orc Chieftains knew what they were planning to do.
"RAH TA TA. They’re planning to cause chaos."
"BU TO TO! They’ve already rigged an explosive bomb on the screen’s legs. They will make sure that the television screen topples over into the track and causes destruction everywhere."
Michael grumbled to himself.
Worcester planned to topple that screen. It would then crash into an unsuspecting car and kill them instantly in a tragic accident. And then, it could spiral even worse as this crash would send a domino effect that would harm the other drivers as well.
Of course, from a logical perspective, this plan of theirs was absolutely stupid.
These cars were already crashing against each other at high speeds. Their Nascent Influence allowed them to defy the laws of reality. Even crashing head-on to the curb wouldn’t kill the drivers inside their cars.
But that didn’t matter.
Worcester’s assassins would imbue their own Nascent Influence onto the falling television screen to ensure that it would kill the unsuspecting driver.
And by then, the racing circuit would always be remembered as the event where a loved Nascent Spirit driver was killed in an accident.
Even if investigations proved the Reborn company to be innocent, Worcester’s connections to the journals and newspaper companies in the Elite Society would make sure to pin the blame on the Reborn company.
And even if that was disproven as well, the rumors would still spread far and wide.
From then on, the products of Reborn would be tainted with a tragedy. Those who were unaware of what truly happened would simply believe the Reborn products to be dangerous.
Michael already foresaw what was going to happen.
Thankfully, they already made their countermove. Prevention was always better than the cure.
Five figures suddenly emerged behind the assassin hiding atop the television screen.
The Nascent Spirit cultivator turned around, alarmed at the appearance of these strange figures.
"You are on private property. Leave now, or we shall use proper force to make you."
Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, and Epsilon faced the assassin with a look of disdain on their faces.
"Damn it!" the assassin cursed. He immediately donned his Nascent Armor and reached his hand towards the explosive charge he planted before.
But at that moment, Alpha appeared right next to the assassin. She caught his hand and didn’t let go.
"What?!"
The assassin couldn’t wrest his hands away from Alpha’s grip! He finally took a good long look at her body and saw a strange prismatic armor surrounding her entire body. "Who... what are you?!"
Alpha clasped her hands on the assassin’s neck. "We are the guardians of Reborn."
The other four Unity Clones skewered the assassin with their swords, executing him in an instant. He couldn’t even utter a single word.

Meanwhile, the race continued on, reaching the third to last lap of the entire race.
And the majority of the cars approached a certain curve in the race track.
Watching from the sidelines, a smile began to curve in Worcester’s mouth. He stared at the television screen waiting for that inevitable moment when tragedy accidentally struck the Reborn company.
The automobiles zoomed past the curve.
But still, nothing happened. Worcester frowned. His assassin should have discharged the explosives at that exact moment when tens of automobiles crowded in the curve!
It was at this point that he realized that he had once again underestimated the Reborn company.
"They knew," he muttered under his breath, speaking to absolutely no one around him.
But on the opposite side of the VIP area, Lucy muttered under his breath as well.
"How about your friend?"
Worcester replied: "Can’t contact him."
Lucy clicked his tongue. "This is not what you promised me."
Hearing the disappointment in Lucy’s voice, Worcester frowned. It was not good to get on the wrong side of the newly crowned Mystic Master. He still needed Lucy’s help if he were to inherit the Oscorpe Conglomerate.
"Don’t worry. We had redundancies in place just for this exact reason. You will have your time to shine," Worcester assured.
Lucy nodded and smiled to the audience around him. No one seemed to know, hear, or see the conversation he was having with Worcester.
"It better be. Otherwise, we will take our business elsewhere."
And then, Lucy cut the communication between them.
He turned towards the hooded figures beside him. "A little bit of hiccup. But our friend assures us that our plans are still unimpeded."
The Mystic Masters remained silent, neither assuring him nor reprimanding him.
Lucy cleared his throat. "I will make sure people still need us. That, I promise you."
