Reborn as the Genius Son of the Richest Family

Chapter 1440: Isolated

Chapter 1440: Isolated

It was a special kind of Aubility Power. Worcester had made a completely isolated dimension that cannot be interacted with by anyone other than himself.

Not even a high-levelled Nascent Spirit cultivator could do so.

This was Worcester’s power. He was able to isolate a target in a single space. They wouldn’t be able to get out of this place no matter what they tried to do unless they killed Worcester or got killed themselves.

Of course, with such a powerful Aubility, there had to be some downsides.

This isolated space was not in any way shape or form advantageous to Worcester. He still had to defeat the person he isolated, or get killed himself. It was a double-edged power.

But of course, since Michael was one stage lower than he was, Worcester was very confident with his decision.

"So your insanity was nothing more than an act?" Michael asked Worcester.

"Part of it," Worcester admitted. "I just wanted to stagger the others so that I could have the chance to isolate you. But my reasons for wanting to kill you are true. You are leading this world to its doom."

Michael frowned. "How so?"

"Have you ever wondered why we’re so weak? Have you ever wondered that despite being the most dominant species in the world, we are the weakest when it comes to real power?

It’s because our strength led the world to near extinction. It happened during the Ancient Era. It will happen again in the future if you continue what you’re doing."

Michael’s eyebrows raised. "The Cataclysm..."

"That’s correct. You and your inventions and your ideology will lead the world into another Cataclysm. And this time, it won’t end with humans losing our power. This time, it will end with the entire world being destroyed!"

Of course, if one were to base it on Worcester’s words, it did seem as if his actions were justified.

But that’s the thing. Could Worcester’s words really be trusted?

"How can you be sure? All of the scholars of this world have studied the Cataclysm. They have scoured the entire world for texts regarding that pivotal event. And yet, they have not been able to find the real cause of the Cataclysm. No one even knew what happened," Michael argued.

It was at this point that Worcester crossed his arms against his chest. "It’s because they haven’t yet known the truth! They can’t accept it. We’ve told them multiple times about what happened, but they don’t believe us. They think they know better than us, when all they are is ignorant."

It was at this point that Michael suddenly realized something.

"We?... You... you’re actually from the Ersatz Organization, aren’t you?"

It was a surprising discovery. As it turned out, Worcester wasn’t lying! He really was from the Ersatz Organization, and the terrorist attack was actually something that they arranged! He lied to protect the truth.

"They’ve shown me the truth. They’ve shown me the way. Everything else is a corrupted lie. Everyone else is too busy with their own agendas and goals that they don’t realize this world is going to end if they don’t stop abusing its power. You especially."

Michael stared at Worcester. "And what should we do? Just let the world suffer? Stop our advancement so that we don’t fall off a cliff?"

"YES!" Worcester replied. "Living in the darkness is much better than not living at all."

Seeing that crazed look on his face, Michael became sure that Worcester couldn’t be convinced.

He and the entire Ersatz Organization had fallen into the trap of thinking that the ends justified the means.

They believed that it was better to destroy the world little by little, than let the world destroy itself.

Michael didn’t believe in such ideologies. He believed that everyone in the world had a right to live comfortably.

And if advancement really did lead to the destruction of the world, then Michael would deal with that when it came.

After all, that’s what he was good at, wasn’t he?

He was good at adapting. If the world was staring at its own destruction because of the advancements he made in technology, then Michael would make the world advance too so that it wouldn’t be destroyed!

"I’m going to stop you before you destroy the world," Worcester said to him.

But Michael shrugged. "Even if i die, I am sure that my friends and allies would continue to wave the flag of Reborn even after my death. They barely need my help now. They’ll be able to continue my dream for me."

It was at this point that Worcester began to laugh with a sinister undertone.

"Hahahaha! I know. Don’t you think I know that? I’ve made my preparations. I’ve learned my lessons.

It took me sacrificing the Western Pole and the Ease of Vindication, two of the top Upper Echelon companies, before I figured out that the foundations of your company laid on your members. The farmers. The construction workers. The engineers.

But they’re lacking one thing. And that is strength.

You... you’re strong. Very strong. But all of that strength is concentrated on you.

I learned that if I take you out of the equation, then that means that your company is free for the taking."

Michael’s eyes widened.

"You realize now? I trapped you in here for a reason! Have you ever wondered why I had no one with me here on the racing track? It’s because I had long told all of my generals to position themselves around your company for an ambush!

And right at this moment, Nascent Spirit cultivators and their armies will be sieging all of your territories. You have talented generals. But they’re still too green. They do not stand a chance against real Nascent Spirit cultivators!"

It was a well-thought out plan. Even if somehow, Michael won against Worcester, he would still have spent too long in here to help his own company.

Now, all Worcester had to do was stall. And if Michael comes out of this alive, he’d see his own company burning in ashes.

At least, that’s what he thought would happen...
