Chapter 1926: Chapter 1920: Making it Clear
Qin Xue watched them from the side, not really knowing what to say, wondering what was going on with this family. She had already said there was no need to see her off, there was no need for formalities, but it seemed like they hadn’t heard her at all, only going by their own thoughts?
Leaving like this seemed impolite, but she really didn’t need an escort. She just wanted to go home. Looking at them, it seemed like they didn’t recognize who she was, but then again, she looked so much like her mother. If they knew her mother, they surely would know whose daughter she was.
Even if these two ladies didn’t know who she was, Qin Huaihe, as the person involved, should have guessed it by now. Maybe he wanted to find a chance to spend time with her, perhaps to ask about her mother’s situation.
Thinking about this, Qin Xue was even more unsure whether she should just leave or if it was better to stay.
"Let’s go, we can talk as we walk." Qin Huaihe said to Qin Xue after speaking with his sister-in-law.
"Alright." Qin Xue accepted helplessly. What else could she do? He had already said so. She couldn’t refuse even if she wanted to; he had already said so.
"You’re so clever, have you guessed what I want to say?" Qin Huaihe asked as he and Qin Xue walked out of the hospital.
"What if I have? Can you turn back time?" Qin Xue looked into the distance, knowing it was impossible, so why dwell on it? It would only hurt and sadden her.
If nothing had happened between them, her mother, given her personality, wouldn’t have left. Since she left while pregnant, there must have been significant issues between them.
If that’s the case, what can asking if she’s guessed accomplish now? Doesn’t it seem a bit redundant?
"So you really did guess. Then you should know who I am. How is your mother?" Qin Huaihe recalled the scene he and his nephew saw last time in H Province. She seemed happy, but what about him? He hadn’t been happy for years, always searching in secret, living in self-blame.
Seeing the two children doing well now, and her doing well too, he felt both sad and relieved. He was truly overwhelmed by a multitude of emotions.
"It’s better to maintain the status quo. You’re not young anymore, and some things once past won’t have a way back. Cherish those by your side, and let everyone live in peace." Qin Xue genuinely didn’t want anyone to disturb her family’s peace.
In The Qins, the parents-in-law were understanding, the couple was loving, and the siblings had good relationships. If someone were to tell them their father was someone else, the result would be as explosive as a drop of water in hot oil.
And that’s not a result Qin Xue wanted to see, so she didn’t want Qin Huaihe to disrupt their lives. Pretending not to know, as before, would be better for both families. That was their responsibility.
"Do you not want to acknowledge me as your father?" Qin Huaihe hadn’t intended to ask, but hearing Qin Xue’s words stirred an unrest in his heart.
The woman who should have been his wife was now someone else’s spouse, his children called another man father, and now she didn’t want to acknowledge him. Influenced by these emotions, he asked the question.
"I don’t know what happened between you and my mom, but someone with my mom’s personality, if she could run away from home, have you never wondered why?" Qin Xue asked, fixing her gaze on Qin Huaihe.
