Chapter 1957: Chapter 1951 Heartbroken Person
"An’an." An Hao was called before she even reached the courtyard gate.
Upon hearing the voice, An Hao froze for a moment but continued walking forward as if she hadn’t heard anyone calling her.
"An’an, can you let me explain? Can we have a talk?" Li Zhao hadn’t been doing well these days either. He had come over more than ten times, but An Hao refused to listen to his explanation. He felt that An Hao had really changed, she no longer resembled the person he used to know.
Yet, he knew this was her most genuine self. Thinking back to how she used to be carefree and trusted him completely. But now she seemed cold and hardened, unwilling to listen to anything.
"There’s nothing to say between us. You should just go back. I’ll follow your mother’s advice. Find some time for us to get a divorce." An Hao finally voiced her decision.
"An’an." Li Zhao hadn’t expected An Hao to say such words. Had she really never loved him?
How could she so easily utter the word divorce? Is this all that remained between them?
"I’ve said all I needed to say. Go on and live your life with your Ou Keren. Don’t come back again. I’ll raise the child myself and won’t give her to you." An Hao spoke without even looking at Li Zhao, then walked into the courtyard, heading towards the Xiaos, not the Lis.
"An Hao, do you really have no heart?" Li Zhao asked, pained.
"No." An Hao’s words lingered in the air. Her heart was already devastated, yet she still felt pain and wanted to cry.
Tears rolled down An Hao’s face. She didn’t want to cry, but her heart hurt badly. Yet she didn’t turn back, so Li Zhao didn’t know that he wasn’t the only one in pain.
"An Hao, no matter what you decide, I won’t divorce you. Just give up. Alive, you’re mine. Dead, you’re Li Zhao’s ghost. If you want to leave me, there’s no way." Li Zhao shouted loudly.
"If you want to see me die in front of you, then go ahead and insist." An Hao’s voice was cold as ice.
Li Zhao took two steps back upon hearing this. How could she think that way? How could she push him like this? How could she? But seeing her determined silhouette, Li Zhao knew An Hao wasn’t joking.
Hadn’t he long known how strong her character was? The past years of good had made him forget her true self. It was his failure to care for her that led to her disappointment. It was his lack of resolve that broke her heart, which is why she didn’t want him anymore. It was his mistake; he couldn’t blame her for reacting this way.
Li Zhao turned and walked away, dejected. He looked at the blazing sun overhead, yet he felt so cold, cold to the bone.
How did they end up like this? Didn’t they just have a daughter? The child was only a few months old, yet they were at the brink of divorce. Whose fault was this? Li Zhao couldn’t make sense of it. Seeing a tavern not far ahead, he stepped inside.
"Boss, do you have a private room here?" Li Zhao didn’t want to stay in the hall; he wanted a private room to lick his wounds away from prying eyes.
"Yes, I’ll have someone take you there." Jin Yuling glanced at Li Zhao and got someone to lead him to a private room. Another heartbroken soul, he thought, but said nothing further and continued to watch the stream of customers coming and going.
The people who came to his place often had stories. He couldn’t manage all of them. They would come, and he would serve them drinks. Whether to drown their sorrows only to find more or to drink to forget temporarily, he didn’t worry. His business was to serve, and that was enough.
