Chapter 2729: Saw Angelica Lee

Chapter 2729: Chapter 2729: Saw Angelica Lee

As for this first day, the high-stakes event was strictly reserved for exclusively invited guests, influential global researchers, and VVIP dignitaries.

Of course, Yu Qi had absolutely no intention of physically crashing the conference hall and exposing her disguise. She merely wanted to get close enough to catch a glimpse inside and personally confirm that Tang Qin Hao was safe and unbothered. Naturally, she planned to achieve this from a distance using her advanced Eye Power Sight to pierce through the heavy walls.

After leaving their suite and riding the elevator down, Yu Qi and Long Hui arrived at the grand floor hosting the event. From a distance, they could already see several burly, professional bodyguards stationed rigidly at the entrance doors alongside a few high-end members of the conference staff.

The bodyguards sharply turned their attention toward Yu Qi and Long Hui the exact millisecond they noticed the ordinary-looking couple approaching the restricted perimeter. One of the staff members quickly stepped forward to intercept them before they could get any closer.

“I am terribly sorry, Sir and Miss. This specific wing is currently off-limits to the public.” The staff member stated with a polite but firm smile.

“Off-limits?” Yu Qi asked, feigning an innocent look of confusion. “Oh, I apologise. Isn’t there an international medical conference taking place right through those doors?”

“There is indeed a medical conference being held at the moment.” The staff member explained patiently, noting her unassuming appearance. “However, today’s introductory sessions are strictly open to specially invited guests and VVIP participants. The general conference will officially open its doors to regular attendees starting tomorrow morning, so you are more than welcome to return to this floor then.”

“Oh… I see. My mistake.” Yu Qi nodded in sheepish understanding, playing the part of a confused tourist perfectly. “It seems I completely misread the digital schedule online. We are so sorry for disturbing your work.”

“Not at all. Have a wonderful evening.” The staff member smiled politely, stepping back.

Yu Qi and Long Hui immediately turned around on their heels and walked away, choosing to retreat without creating even a hint of trouble. Seeing how thoroughly cooperative and non-threatening the couple was, the rigid bodyguards at the door visibly relaxed their postures.

After walking a fair distance away down the long, carpeted corridor and turning a corner out of sight, Long Hui finally spoke in a low, quiet murmur.

“Did you manage to see him?” Long Huui asked.

“Yeah.” Yu Qi nodded, her eyes losing their innocent look and sharpening instantly. “He is physically fine. He is sitting near the front.”

However, Yu Qi’s expression soon clouded over, becoming incredibly complicated and tense. “But… I am still deeply worried.”

Long Hui glanced down at her, reading the sudden stress in her eyes. “Why? Did you notice something else inside the hall?”

“Because I saw Angelica Lee standing right by his seat, actively talking to him.” Yu Qi narrowed her eyes into dangerous slits.

Long Hui’s footsteps faltered for a fraction of a second as he immediately understood the dangerous source of her concern.

“That is indeed worrying.” Long Hui admitted, his jaw tightening. He paused briefly, calculating the variables as they continued walking back toward the elevator. “If a woman like that becomes genuinely interested in your brother’s research or his person, she will definitely use her resources to investigate his background thoroughly.”

“And once her people start digging into his family background…” Yu Qi frowned deeply, picking up on Long Hui’s train of thought with a growing sense of dread. “It would not take long at all for her to discover the direct connection between him and me.”

That was precisely the nightmare scenario she had been trying so desperately to avoid.

“We already have a notoriously bad history with her and the people behind her.” Long Hui added calmly, though his voice had noticeably turned a shade colder, a dangerous edge creeping into his tone. “And knowing Angelica Lee’s vindictive personality, she is definitely not the type of person who simply lets old grudges disappear into thin air.”

Yu Qi let out a long, weary sigh and rubbed her throbbing temples. At this point, she could only desperately hope that Tang Qin Hao’s naturally aloof and icy personality would discourage Angelica Lee from developing any further interest in him.

Unfortunately, judging from the calculating, intrigued expression she had just observed on Angelica’s face through her Eye Power Sight, that hopeful possibility seemed increasingly unlikely.

….

Just as Yu Qi had feared, Angelica Lee quickly became intensely interested in Tang Qin Hao.

Her interest was not limited to his brilliant research achievements alone. She was equally, if not more, captivated by him as a person. Among the Tang brothers, Tang Qin Hao was undeniably the most visually striking. Compared to the more approachable charm of Tang Han Lee and Tang Jin Wei, Tang Qin Hao possessed a colder, sharper, and more refined appearance that naturally commanded any room he walked into. Therefore, it was not surprising that a woman like Angelica Lee would be instantly drawn to his stark, aristocratic looks.

After spending some time discussing Tang Qin Hao’s medical research and groundbreaking academic accomplishments, Angelica Lee smoothly shifted the trajectory of the conversation toward her true agenda.

Recruitment.

She wanted Tang Qin Hao to join her corporate empire. More specifically, she wanted to poach him to become one of the leading executive researchers under her organisation.

Without wasting even a single second to politick or soften the blow, Tang Qin Hao rejected the offer flat out. His answer was entirely straightforward, icy, and decisive. He told Angelica Lee in no uncertain terms that he had no intention whatsoever of changing his profession or entering the corporate world.
