Chapter 2840: Went Separate Way

Chapter 2840: Chapter 2840: Went Separate Way

Not long after, two sleek black cars rounded the corner and pulled up smoothly right in front of them. They were the private vehicles that Qin Xia had arranged beforehand.

“Guard this man well. If he tries anything, break his limbs. Just don’t let him escape.” Qin Xia issued the cold order to his subordinates.

“Understood, Boss!” The men answered in unison, moving with crisp precision.

They swiftly hoisted the unconscious Master Liang up and shoved him into the rear vehicle.

“Junior Sister, let me give you two a ride home.” Qin Xia offered, turning toward her.

“Senior Brother Xia, just drop us off where we parked our car earlier.” Yu Qi replied with a smile.

“Alright.” Qin Xia nodded without objection.

He walked over and gallantly held the rear car door open for Yu Qi. Once she slipped inside, he rounded the vehicle and climbed into the back seat beside her.

As for Long Hui, he casually opened the front door and took the front passenger seat without uttering a single word.

Min Liang, who was sitting behind the steering wheel, gripped the wheel tightly and drove with extreme caution. Usually, when he was alone driving his boss, he already had to exert all his effort to endure Qin Xia’s terrifying, suffocating aura. But now, with Long Hui sitting right beside him in the front passenger seat, the pressure was twice as intense.

Long Hui’s icy, commanding presence was practically identical to his boss’s. In fact, Min Liang felt that the air inside the luxury vehicle was so thick with latent danger that he could barely draw a proper breath.

“Senior Brother Xia, when that man wakes up later, make sure to inform him that if he attempts to escape, he will die a horrible death. The poison inside his system will slowly eat away at his internal organs from the inside out.” Yu Qi stated nonchalantly from the back seat.

“You poisoned him as well?” Qin Xia looked at her, mildly surprised.

“Mhm,” Yu Qi nodded with a dark twinkle in her eyes. She then reached into her pouch, retrieved a small glass vial containing several dark pills, and handed it directly over to Qin Xia. “Tell him that if he wants to stay alive, he must take one pill every single week without fail.”

Qin Xia accepted the glass vial, a low, appreciative smirk spreading across his face.

“You truly leave absolutely nothing to chance, don’t you?” Qin Xia remarked admiringly.

“Mhm. Even though his cultivation meridians are thoroughly sealed, we can never afford to be complacent. I just want to ensure zero unexpected variables crop up. With this poison coursing through him, he would not dare entertain even the slightest thought of running away from you.” Yu Qi explained calmly.

“Mhm… I completely understand.” Qin Xia nodded, tucking the vial into his coat pocket.

The car eventually pulled up smoothly beside the secluded spot where Long Hui and Yu Qi had parked their own vehicle earlier that day.

Long Hui pushed the passenger door open and stepped out onto the pavement first. Yu Qi followed closely behind him.

Qin Xia also stepped out of the rear passenger side, adjusting his suit jacket as he looked at the couple.

“Junior Sister, are you two heading straight back home now?” Qin Xia asked.

“Mhm. We should head back first. There are still a few urgent matters we need to organise before tomorrow.” Yu Qi nodded.

Qin Xia nodded in full understanding. “Very well. I will personally take care of locking Master Liang away first.”

“Senior Brother Xia, just make sure you don’t accidentally kill him before we extract every last bit of useful intel from his mind.” Yu Qi lightly reminded him with a smile.

“Don’t worry. I know exactly how to handle trash like him.” Qin Xia smiled back reassuringly.

“Just try not to play with him too much.” Long Hui darted a cool glance sideways at Qin Xia.

“Why? Isn’t that precisely what we just spent the last hour doing inside her space?” Qin Xia raised a smooth eyebrow in amusement.

Yu Qi could not hold back a sudden burst of laughter at the banter.

Long Hui glanced fondly down at Yu Qi before shifting his gaze back to Qin Xia, his expression entirely unbothered.

“That’s different.” Long Hui stated.

“Senior Brother Xia, you should really hurry and take Master Liang away before he wakes up and faints on us a third time.” Yu Qi stopped the bickering before it went further.

“Alright, alright. You, take care of her.” Qin Xia said to Long Hui.

“She is my beloved. You don’t have to worry about her.” Long Hui replied.

Qin Xia closed the window and ordered Min Liang to drive away.

Yu Qi and Long Hui climbed back into their own car. As they watched Qin Xia’s multi-car convoy pull out into the main road and speed away, Long Hui turned the key in the ignition and brought the engine to a low, powerful purr.

“Brother Hui… we are heading to Manhe Island tomorrow.” Yu Qi said softly, leaning back against her seat.

Long Hui nodded calmly, his eyes fixed on the open road ahead. “I know.”

“There is a high probability that a massive nest of evil cultivators is waiting for us there.” Yu Qi stated, narrowing her eyes.

“I know that as well.” Long Hui replied without a single trace of fear in his voice.

“Are you worried?” Yu Qi turned her head to look at his sharp, handsome side profile.

“The only thing I am worried about is whether those evil cultivators are prepared for what happens when we arrive.” Long Hui glanced over at her, his lips curving into a faint, devastatingly handsome smirk.
