Chapter 1102: Departure
Chapter 1102: Chapter 1102: Departure
This was truly Su Yuanyuan’s own idea, and she was telling the truth. Things must have already been arranged over there.
"Next month, we are going to the seaside. We need to thank those people for their help over the years. Now that you’re back, we should also thank the people in the village."
"Alright. Mom, when do you want to leave next month? We will arrange the schedule."
"Our family should go on the tenth and come back on the sixteenth."
The three children remembered the dates. They really needed to go; something happened to them there, and for many years, their mother went every year. The honest people there helped Mom, and they needed to thank them.
The next day, the three kids went back. Everything needed to be arranged in advance.
During lunch, Su Yuanyuan also talked about this with Xu Guozhi and the others.
Lu Chengmin and Zheng Wenqiang both didn’t want to. With Su Yuanyuan leaving, it meant they would have to take over her work.
"Xiao Su, Xiao Tan and his father both came back. What else do you need to do? If it’s about recuperation, it should be us going, right?"
"Boss, what if we all go and have some fun for a few days? I’m going to let the people in the village know they’ve returned, and also to thank them.
That old village chief broke the rules to help me. I felt embarrassed."
"Xiao Su, I know you provided a lot of help over there."
"What help? I just found some technicians to develop seeds suitable for that area."
Even though nobody wanted Su Yuanyuan to go, Xiao Su had already given her reasons, so they really couldn’t object.
"Xiao Su, when you come back, I’ll go over there and stay for a few days," Lu Chengmin said enviously.
"That’s a good idea. The chef at the sanatorium is amazing, and his seafood dishes are especially good. You could really take a few days to relax. It’s just that the travel takes too much time."
That’s also the reason why none of them wanted to go.
"Why don’t you take a helicopter? It’s much faster that way."
Lu Chengmin shook his head, "It’s a waste of resources. Forget it, I’m just thinking aloud."
Once Qian Zhifeng came back, Su Yuanyuan and her family set off. This time there were two cars; Chengzi insisted on coming along. There was no choice but to let him drive the truck, which carried the fine grains prepared for the village.
"Mom, Secretary Qian’s return was quite timely, otherwise you would have worried about him."
"Yes, the gains from this trip were substantial. In the future, we need to train more."
Qian Zhifeng looked a bit excited, that kind of visibly happy excitement. It had never shown before.
A man in his thirties looking so excited he didn’t know what to say was quite amusing. But it was clear his gains were huge.
So it wasn’t a wasted trip after all; experience is accumulated bit by bit.
When I chose Qian Zhifeng, Xu Guozhi wasn’t too willing. In fact, he had someone in mind. I told him back then that Qian Zhifeng would be in my position. People the leadership favor typically go by Lu Chengmin’s side.
This was to show him I wasn’t even eyeing Lu Chengmin’s position.
On the road, they hardly rested. Qi Yan and the others took turns driving with Chengzi.
Chengzi sat on one side chatting with Qi Hong. "Qi Hong, look at this place. Your mom really is something, she sorted out a few people here."
"Aren’t those the ones colluding with the Japanese?"
"Yes, through his situation, I learned that people really can’t go astray. If they can turn back, it’s fine, but I’m afraid they might end up down a dark path."
"Uncle Chengzi, as long as you don’t have the heart to harm others, it’s fine."
"Yes. Qi Hong, tell me, in front of others, I feel okay. But in front of your family, I feel like nothing."
Qi Hong laughed, "Uncle Chengzi, how many people in the world are like my dad and mom? You really don’t need to overthink it."
"I know, I understand the principle. I was just reflecting with you."
"Uncle Chengzi, you’re getting old."
Chengzi quickly sat up, "Who says? I’m not old yet."
"Don’t deny it." Qi Hong teased Chengzi. It was really interesting being with him. Though he was older and a senior, he never put on airs, and chatting with him was really fun.
"I’m really not old."
"Uncle Chengzi, age doesn’t really matter. But you really should settle down."
"Really? I’m so confused now, I just fear I’ll let someone down."
"Who can see the future clearly? How do you know you’ll definitely let someone down? Just do your best, right?
My mom once told us, no matter what you do, as long as you’re true to yourself, it’s enough."
"Ask for no shame in your heart, right?"
"Yes, if you are true to yourself, how others think is their problem. Uncle Chengzi, don’t live inside your self-drawn circle!"
Chengzi returned to his reclining position, "I need to think about it."
"Dad and Mom are worried about you. Hurry up. Such a grown man yet you can’t find a wife. Saying it out loud is embarrassing."
"Qi Hong, are you looking down on me?"
"Uncle Chengzi, you realized? That’s really not easy. Hurry up; after you settle down, your mind won’t wander. Then your heart will only be filled with work and family. Isn’t that great?"
"You little brat, you do know a lot."
"Haha, I’m a little brat! Should we have a contest?"
"I don’t want to, I lose every time. My confidence is already shattered."
Qi Hong laughed heartily; among Dad’s men, Chengzi was the most interesting.
Chengzi took a while, then suddenly sat upright again. "Qi Hong, what kind of wife should I look for?"
"That’s your concern, not mine."
"Then give me a suggestion."
"I’m still a little brat." He countered with Chengzi’s earlier words.
"You’re smart."
Qi Hong laughed; this was what was good about Chengzi.
"Actually, I think you should find someone who understands your job, or someone who does the same work as you.
Just like my dad and mom, they are able to understand each other."
Chengzi curled his lips, "Boss and sister-in-law have true love. That’s why they can understand each other."
"You’re right too. So just look for that, right?"
"Really? Where will I find that?" he said with a grimace.
"Just wait and see, won’t you? Isn’t my dad already helping you set things up! I’m honestly surprised, known for his nature, my dad actually acting as a matchmaker."
Chengzi laughed; he really couldn’t associate the boss with matchmaking.
"I’ll definitely put my heart into it. I know your dad and mom really care about me. They’re doing this because they think I should settle down. I’ll obediently go on dates, get married, and not let them down."
