Chapter 1234: Sisters Reunited

Chapter 1234: Chapter 1234: Sisters Reunited

Qi Hong drove the five of them to the entrance of Zhao Yanli’s house, where Hai Yan got out, "Qi Hong, I really don’t like riding in cars."

"Big sister, how can you not like it? This is our first time riding in a car," Jianhua said excitedly.

The other three nodded in agreement.

"Hai Yan, once you’re home, go inside. I’ll take the other four for another spin."

"Brother Qi Hong, you’re the best. I like you," Zhou Zhifu shouted excitedly.

Qi Hong was amused, "What? You won’t like me if I don’t drive you around?"

"No, no. I like you even more."

Zhao Yanli came out just then, followed by Xiao Ling and the six others.

Seeing so many kids, Qi Hong decided not to drive off. They were all quite young, so he might as well take them all.

After getting out of the car, Zhao Yanli grabbed his hand, "Are you Qi Yan or Qi Hong?"

"Auntie, I’m Qi Hong."

"You’ve really grown up. I last saw you when you were a year old, and now you’re all so big." She was quite moved.

"Auntie, my parents are right behind us."

The four little ones in the car were getting anxious, not getting out yet.

Qi Hong smiled at Xiao Ling and the six others. "Do you want to ride in the car? If everyone gets in, it’ll be really cramped."

Xiao Ling and Xiao Le, being older girls, blushed and shook their heads, "We won’t go, let the others go."

Zhao Yanli glared at her two sons in the car, feeling rather helpless.

Qi Hong just chuckled, "You four hurry up and get in. I’ll take you wherever you want to go, though you can’t leave the city."

Zhixue, Hai Jun, and Haifeng were delighted. They’ve been on a train and a truck, but never a car like this.

After everyone got in, Qi Hong said, "Auntie, we’re going out to play now."

"Okay, Qi Hong, be careful. We’ll be eating soon anyway."

Qi Hong nodded, "We’ll be back in fifteen minutes for sure."

Zhao Yanli called the three girls inside, having prepared three tables of food this time.

"Hai Yan, are you still in pain? What should we do?" asked Xiao Ling. She was also older now and understood what was going on.

Hai Yan nodded, "Yes, it’s still painful. I don’t know what else to do."

The Zhou couple watched the three girls, feeling fond of them and thinking about when their daughter-in-law would give them a granddaughter.

Minutes later, Zhou Yongbing and the others arrived.

The Zhou couple came out to greet them. Seeing the whole family together, they were at a loss for words.

Xiao Ling excitedly looked at Su Yuanyuan, recalling that she was just a child then and only knew she had an aunt named Su Yuanyuan. But meeting her this time, she remembered.

Everyone took their seats. Su Yuanyuan held onto Xiao Ling and Xiao Le, appreciating the character of the sisters.

"Auntie, thank you for the stationery and clothes you’ve given us over the years."

"There’s no need to thank me, just study hard. That would be the best reward for me."

The sisters nodded in agreement.

Su Yuanyuan smiled and said, "I know both of you do very well in your studies; your older aunt writes to me constantly with praises about you.

Keep up the hard work and continue studying diligently. It’s your lifetime asset."

Suddenly, there was the sound of a car parking outside, followed by the lively noise of children.

Qi Yan and Qi Wen went out, as the gifts for the Zhou family were still in the car.

This time the gifts were things like flour, rice, and oil; there was no meat since it wasn’t suitable given the season.

Qi Wen went in, carrying six sets of stationery, all prepared alike for the kids.

The children sat at one table, and everyone happily had dinner.

Both Qi Hao and Qi Xuan were particularly well-behaved, without any fussing.

After dinner, they all sat together for a chat.

"Yuanyuan, come over for lunch at my place tomorrow," someone suggested.

Su Yuanyuan nodded, "Don’t fuss too much, something simple like cold noodles would be fine." She didn’t want to trouble anyone.

"Yuanyuan, why don’t you stay a few more days? I’ve taken the next two days off, so I can spend them with you. I’ll come to pick you up in the morning, and we could have some soybean milk tomorrow," Zhao Yanli suggested with a smile.

"Come over tomorrow, your house is still making tofu in the morning, and mine is quieter. I’ve also taken two days off."

Su Yuanyuan had no objections; anything was fine with her.

"I’m only here for two days and need to visit the farm."

"Yuanyuan, can’t you stay a few more days?"

"I’d like to spend more time at the farm."

"Yuanyuan, my eldest brother is staying at your place," Zhao Yanli noted.

"It’s alright, there are plenty of places to stay. We can set up a room for a longer stay."

"Yuanyuan, you really love it there."

"Yes, my feelings for the farm are still strong."

It was getting late, and the family headed off.

That night, as two couples lay in bed, they talked about Su Yuanyuan’s family.

Zhang Fusheng sighed, "Xiao Ping, I feel like Xiao Su hasn’t changed a bit. If you said she was twenty, I’d believe it."

"Yes, Yuanyuan hasn’t changed much. She’s always been pretty."

"To me, they seem different from regular folks like us."

"They’ve always been like that," Zhao Yanping noted.

"It’s just different. It’s like they’re not on the same path as us. Around them, you naturally feel cautious and careful."

"Hmm, I don’t feel that way."

Zhao Yanli discussed with Zhou Yongbing, "Yuanyuan is really something. Such a good job, and she just quit like that?"

"Xiao Su has her own ideas."

"Yuanyuan’s job was so good, and Xiao Tan’s job couldn’t be bad either."

"Xiao Li, they’re different from us."

Zhao Yanli sighed, "Yes, I know. Even as a child, I knew I was different from Su Yuanyuan."

After Su Yuanyuan’s family got home, they all went into the space, making for a comfortable and convenient setting.

The three older kids went to wash up and rest on their own. Su Yuanyuan and her husband lay in bed with the two younger ones.

"Tomorrow, I’ll call Feng Baoshan to arrange a place for us to stay, preferably close by," Su Yuanyuan suggested.

Tan Shaoting shook his head, "That’s unrealistic. The area near the water will definitely be in demand. We have a car, so it doesn’t matter where we stay."

"Wei Guangxiang should still be at the farm."

Tan Shaoting nodded, "He’ll definitely be there this season. We can call him tomorrow."

Su Yuanyuan nodded, hoping to stay here for a month or two before heading south.

Tan Shaoting understood his wife’s intentions. He had strong feelings about the farm as well, leaving them with cherished memories.

The next day, shortly after they got up, Zhou Yongbing dropped off a thermos of soybean milk and a package of brown sugar, including some sesame pancakes and fried dough sticks.
