Chapter 866: House Hunting
Chapter 866: Chapter 866: House Hunting
Zhou Yongbing also couldn’t handle his two sons, why were they so mischievous? Only when they were asleep did he find them quite adorable.
At times, when they were being difficult, he just wanted to spank them. During waking hours, they never seemed to be idle.
In the afternoon, Zhang Fusheng went out too. He planned to ask around the team, talk to more people, perhaps there’d be no news though.
If not nearby, somewhere close to the school would be fine.
Both families actually wanted it; if the in-laws didn’t need it, they still wanted it.
These people have already benefited from them, since the grain was cheap, the fine grains plentiful, and there was meat, they didn’t need to worry about buying.
"Brother Yang, have you heard if anyone is selling a house?"
"Looking to buy a house for Xinhua?"
"Yeah, but it’s not just for that reason. Mainly, my in-laws’ kids want to come study, don’t want to inconvenience Xiao Bing’s family and ours. So we’re thinking of buying a house, keeping an eye on things."
"Let me ask around for you, across the street, where I live, my elder said they might want to sell and move back to the hometown."
"That’s great! The row of houses across from you is quite nice, and spacious too."
"Perfect for Jianhua. Ask other people too, for houses close to me, for Jianhua."
Zhang Fusheng nodded, "Sure, I’ve asked around. I also hope it’s close, for convenience in looking after them, they’re all kids."
"Alright, I’ll find a way for this house. Xinhua is indeed growing up, needs preparations."
"Exactly, almost finishing high school. If he gets in, that’s good. If not, he’ll need to find a wife."
Zhang Fusheng asked more teammates. They all promised to help inquire.
Zhao Yanping and Zhao Yanli, the two sisters, also talked to coworkers about wanting to buy a house.
It’s not like there is none, just too far. That’s inconvenient, they’re still little kids, can’t take care of them.
The next day, Zhang Fusheng and Zhou Xiaobing drove to the fertilizer plant to load up. They inquired there too, and wouldn’t you know it, there really were two families wanting to sell. Not too far from school, but a bit far from both families.
They agreed to check out the house once back, the price was reasonable at four hundred and twenty per place.
Over at the farm, the Li Family was preparing for the haul, this time of wheat and cotton. It’s the same every year.
An Lixia was busy flipping over the sweet potato strips, honestly, the drying time was too short this time.
But there’s no choice, the eldest nephew came half a month early.
Still, it’s alright, they have two more truckloads of fertilizer to transport.
At Zhao Qingjie’s house, the work was almost done, now they were just shelling corn, their task not completed yet, waiting for the wheat to be hauled away so they can hand in the task.
Xu Hongbing’s family also hadn’t completed their task, but his wheat doesn’t need hauling, he sells it himself annually, and also helps his in-laws sell some.
"Hong Bing, buying a house is for the eldest and second brother, are we going to buy one?"
Xu Hongbing shook his head, he already thought about it. To buy in the city, this way selling grain is convenient, and he considered his son’s schooling too. Better to keep him in the city than send him far away.
"Xiao Jing, Hai Jun won’t be headed to your oldest sister’s place. Tomorrow, when I go deliver the grain, I’ll think of a way to buy a house in the city. Let Hai Jun attend school there."
"Hai Jun alone in the city for school? Can he manage?"
"Why not manage? Why not? He can cook for himself, and I’ll visit occasionally, certainly better than being far away and visiting once or twice a year."
"But he’ll be on his own most of the time."
"It’s fine, the kid is grown."
At this, Zhao Xiaojing stayed silent. In their household, it was Xu Hongbing who made the decisions.
Once the two vehicles unloaded the fertilizer at the farm, they headed to the in-laws’ place.
They received a warm welcome, as in-laws always did, and the mother-in-law prepared lots of delicacies, treating the son-in-law with utmost ability, hoping their daughters are treated well in return.
They each parked their vehicle at the two brother-in-laws’ places, each house received one wheat truck, plus a hundred pounds of cotton as agreed.
This grain was handled through public channels, accompanied with transport fees.
They brought an abundance of provisions, dry vegetables, sweet potatoes, sweet potato strips, potatoes, Chinese cabbages, green onions, ginger, garlic.
"Big brother, before we came, we inquired about the house matter, two houses near the primary school, why don’t you come and take a look?"
But before Zhao Qingxiang agreed, Zhao Tian agreed.
"Alright. Let your big brother go, if it’s suitable, we’ll buy the house, next year the kids must attend school."
"Dad, schooling shouldn’t be a problem. Xiao Bing’s dad has a good rapport with the primary school principal."
"Okay, your big brother will go."
Sun Yun listened from the side, she wanted to go see too, yet now wasn’t her time to speak, she held back her words.
After the wheat was loaded, they went to help the second brother’s family with the loading.
On the road, Sun Yun whispered to Zhao Qingxiang, "I want to go see too, anyway, I can hitch a ride."
"If you go, only three kids would be left at home."
This left Sun Yun silent, she hadn’t considered the matter of the three kids.
Listening from the side, Zhao Tian didn’t say anything right then, but addressed it during the work. "Eldest, why don’t you take Xiao Yun along to take a look? Xiao Ling and Xiao Jing, the two of them, can take care of Little Hong just fine."
That evening, Zhao Qingxiang informed the two girls they would go along too to view the house, check the school.
"Dad and Mom, you go ahead, we’ll stay home."
"Alright. If anything’s needed, go to your grandpa."
At night, the two sisters laid in bed, "Sis, we really can go study."
"Yeah, Xiao Le, we can attend school now. Home’ll be just our parents busy from now on."
Zhao Xiaole remained quiet but inside promised to be filial to her dad once grown.
The next day, the weather turned even gloomier. Zhang Fusheng and Zhou Xiaobing were eager to return, fearing the danger if snow fell.
At home, only the three sisters remained. They didn’t feel anything special, still continued to shell corn.
Zhao Tian came to check, saw his three granddaughters sitting on the kang shelling corn, felt even more heartache over the two granddaughters, these two kids were too sensible.
"Later, go have lunch, your grandma will cook, you can enjoy the ready-made food."
"Grandpa, we won’t go, better stay home and get more work done, we plan to finish shelling all the corn at home before we leave for school."
This left Zhao Tian speechless. He understood the kids’ mindset; their fear was his eldest daughter-in-law’s dissatisfaction.
Once the chores were done, dissatisfaction would leave too.
"Alright, are you used to sleeping at night?"
"Grandpa, we’re fine, what’s there not to be alright?"
