Chapter 2081: Fragmented Memories
Chapter 2081: Fragmented Memories
-----
"Annoying magician!" laughed the tyrannosaur. "That’ll take care of you. Now... Let’s fight like men!"
His aura exploded with raw fury. Strength and agility surged through his body as he punched Allan, driving him back. The blow rattled his bones and drew blood from his face.
But Allan didn’t budge.
"Hey, fuckass," Allan said, emerging from between the beast’s arms, his blazing sword surging with power. "Did you have to punch my wife like that? I’m going to cut you to pieces and burn you to cinders until nothing is left."
"GRRR?!" The tyrannosaur gasped and stepped back—a rookie mistake. Allan pressed forward, his fist blazing with fury as his aura erupted. He resembled a giant humanoid phoenix forged of white and red flames. His punch slammed into the creature’s face, sending it crashing through mountains.
BOOOMMM!
The tyrannosaur’s body slammed into the sea, evaporating the dungeon’s ocean and carving a massive, burning crater. He vomited blood, realizing half his body had been completely burned away.
"Tsk!"
He rose again, regenerating rapidly by absorbing the soil, nearby plants, and roaming monsters.
"Don’t make me laugh!"
With a thunderous roar, his red aura flared, dyeing his entire body crimson. He charged back at Allan, fists flying in a barrage of thousands of attacks.
"BURNING...! BLAZING...! TYRANOFURY!!!"
"Lame ass name."
SLASH!
"Gah?!"
Allan refused to engage or play along. He dodged every punch, then sliced the tyrannosaur cleanly in two with his sword.
"Y-YOUUUUU!"
The severed half roared, rapidly reforming before unleashing another devastating rush of punches, determined to destroy Allan once and for all.
And yet.
YET!
"You’re going to need more than that, lizard."
"Heavenly Blazing Blade Arts – Rising Holy Phoenix!"
The cry of a blazing phoenix echoed as Allan swung his sword upward. An endless sea of flames shaped like a rising flame bird slammed into the monstrous tyrannosaur, splitting him apart and burning him without end.
"G-GAAAAAHHHH! IMPOSSIBLE! I... I BARELY JUST GOT BORN!!!"
The titan fought desperately, reaching for Allan even as he burned. Allan simply raised his hand and conjured a giant sphere of plasma.
"Tyrannical Sun."
It was only a spell.
"Ah..."
BOOOMMM!
The tyrannosaur was consumed by the blazing explosion, disintegrating into ashes that scattered into nothingness. Nothing remained.
"That should be safe now. It can’t revive with nothing left, right?" Allan muttered. "Faylen, where is she?"
He rushed back to Shade and found him locked in combat with the magician. Faylen stood beside him, raising barriers and firing beams of light.
It was a full-scale magic battle. Shade darted around the monster with blinding speed, charging his knives with energy before unleashing devastating waves of black void slashes.
"It’s over."
Shade transformed into an endless shadow, stabbing and slicing through the titan while Faylen gathered her mana and unleashed another Divine Judgement.
Their combined assault disintegrated the second half as it screamed in horror.
"I-IMPOSSIBLE! HOW CAN YOU STILL HAVE MANA AFTER BEING DRAINED?!"
BOOOMMM!
Another massive explosion erupted. Not even tiny roots or ashes remained. Allan reached them with a thumbs-up.
"Well done, everyone. I guess we’re finally done here!" he said. "Hm, the miasma is slowly disappearing, right? I can feel it changing."
"Yeah," Faylen nodded. "This boss had a weird gimmick, but it didn’t amount to much in the end."
Shade sighed in relief. "It’s better that way. Faylen, purify the area. Allan, burn this jungle. We’re getting out of here."
The trio nodded and moved to carry out their tasks.
However—
TRUUUM!
A massive presence froze them in place. Their hands trembled, and a chill ran down their spines.
At the center of the dungeon, a giant black heart pulsed steadily.
"What’s that?!" Allan asked in disbelief.
"Wait, what?!" Faylen gasped. "It can’t be! We killed it!"
"You have to be kidding me! He’s like a Lich—his heart was hidden away!" Shade said.
"HUHUH... INDEED, LITTLE HUMANS. THANKS TO YOU, I’VE DIED THREE TIMES. NOW IT’S OVER."
"?!"
"!!!"
"?"
RUMBLE!
The ground shattered. The entire dungeon trembled and warped into spiraling chaos. Eyes, hands, jaws, and twisted plants burst forth everywhere. The sky fractured, revealing an endless black void.
"What’s happening?!" Allan shouted, looking around in disbelief. "A Dimensional Domain of this level... This is utterly ridiculous!"
"Wait, that’s...?" Faylen whispered.
"Three?!" Shade said.
In the center of the dungeon, three figures emerged—no taller than three or four meters. They were reptilian in appearance, yet each one was distinct.
"We are the Three Dragons of Extinction. Our master has revived us through wicked magic, making us the dungeon’s final boss and turning its core into our unified heart."
"Dragons?!" Allan gasped. "Wait... Huh?"
His eyes widened as a memory from the past flashed through his mind. Tears welled up as he remembered his friend once more.
Little Flamie.
"What are you reading over there?"
Back then, the little dragon loved reading books, especially fairy tales. One story told of three evil dragons that tormented a town, only to be defeated by a brave hero.
It was the first time the young dragon had cried after finishing a book.
"Master... why are the dragons bad? They were just trying to live peacefully, but everyone kept bothering them..."
"...Flamie. Well, uh... it’s just a stupid book. You don’t have to take it seriously. Dragons are revered beings and—"
"Dragons aren’t revered. We’re feared! Nobody sees us as anything other than embodiments of destruction..."
"..."
At the time, Allan lacked the experience and wisdom to respond properly. He fell silent, unable to offer the words that might have comforted his young friend.
Still, he tried his best.
He patted the little dragon’s head and smiled.
"Then we’ll make sure that changes! With you and me together, we’ll become heroes the whole world will respect and love! And once we defeat the Demon King, you’ll show everyone that dragons are noble—not monsters."
"Wow... that sounds great! Let’s go train then!"
"W-Wait, we just ate— Agh!"
Little Flamie was always eager to spar. He dragged Allan along, the two of them training hard for their next dungeon dive.
And the name of that book was...
"The Three Dragons of Extinction... and the Little Town Hero," Allan muttered in disbelief, staring at the creatures from the fairy tale his friend had once read, now embodied as monstrous reality.
