Reincarnated With A Glitched System: Why Is My MP Not Running Out?

Chapter 2080: Intelligent Monsters

Chapter 2080: Intelligent Monsters

-----

"It’s intelligent?!" Faylen gasped. "Impossible! Dungeon monsters are brainless creatures, no smarter than wild animals! What is this ridiculous situation?! Who are you?!"

"HUUUH? Hahahah! Huhuh! Oops, looks like they can still talk. Hehehehe..." The giant dinosaur laughed in a crude, foolish manner, which made Faylen immediately question whether it possessed any real intelligence. "Well! What do you think we are, old hag?! Master has granted us new power! Her blessing has given us intelligence, and her divine power flows through us, guhuhuhuh! We’ve become Ascended Monsters! And we will rule the world instead of you pitiful, weak humans! GAHAHAHA!"

"Is this the same thing that happened with Armageddon?" Shade wondered, narrowing his eyes. "She used to be a Spirit created by the gods, possessing and fusing with a monster to grant it intelligence... Could this be the same? Is this master of yours spreading intelligence among the monsters so they will worship her?!"

"Maybe that’s it!" Allan said, nodding as he rubbed his chin. "Hey, big guy, do you pray to your god or goddess?"

"HUUUUH? What the fuck? Why are you guys so relaxed? Don’t you know you’re about to die?!" the giant dinosaur asked with a wide, toothy grin. "But yeah! Hehehe, I don’t mind telling you since you’re all dying anyway, huhuh. Master has spread intelligence to hundreds of thousands—no, millions—of monsters! I’ve heard you guys are clearing some of her dungeons! But that doesn’t matter anymore. Those still infested have become nests of intelligent monsters, and all of us direct our faith toward her! She’s growing stronger by the second, finding a loophole no other evil god has discovered! Usually, gods can’t receive faith from monsters, hehehe, even if they’re smart. But she found the loophole by mutating her own divinity! Yes! She did it after fusing with the strongest undead monster, possessing it as her vessel! She has become a Goddess of Monsters! This allows her to grow endlessly, mutate, absorb us, and evolve infinitely! HUHUHU! SHE’S GOING TO CONQUER THIS WORLD AND MAKE US THE APEX SPECIES! ...And the name she gave me was Dumbsaur! Isn’t that cool?"

"Dumbsaur? Poor guy," Shade sighed, shaking his head.

"Wow, you sure talk a lot, big guy," Allan noted. "But thanks for the info! Now we finally see the big picture, huh? Wow, that’s bad."

"It is," Faylen sighed, seemingly indifferent to her draining energy. "But Shade’s theory holds. This evil god possessed and took over an undead monster, sacrificing much of her own divinity in the process and lowering herself to the status of a dungeon monster, which awakened a new divinity! That by itself sounds ridiculous. What god would ever go so far? Even the evil ones are incredibly prideful beings."

"She must have been desperate... or dying," Shade said. "Armageddon did the same because she had grown so weakened after being abandoned by the gods. It could be that this evil goddess of monsters is someone we’ve already fought and beaten, or—"

"OKAAAAAYYYY! I’VE BEEN NICE ENOUGH TO LET YOU TALK, BUT THIS IS BOOOOOORING! ENOUGH CHIT-CHAT! TIME TO EAT YOU ALL!!!"

The dinosaur monstrosity roared, its three jaws opening wide to reveal endless rows of teeth as it lunged forward and swallowed the gods. Completely drained of energy, all three of them tumbled into its maws and were gnawed to pieces before being swallowed.

"HMMM! YUMMYYYYYYYYY!" the giant laughed, slapping its massive gut. "GUUHUHUHUH! THAT WAS THE BEST OF THE BEST! A-AND THIS POWER!"

He felt a powerful Divine Flame surge within him. Heavenly Flames engulfed his entire body! Enormously powerful beams of holy light pierced his skin and shot into the heavens—he had become a god of light! And then shadows spread everywhere, slicing him apart with sharp, cutting attacks... wait, what?

"...Huh?"

BOOOMMM!!!

Dumbsaur exploded into pieces. Flames, light, and shadows consumed him from the inside out until he was blown apart and splattered across the ground—guts, flesh, and plant matter everywhere.

"Well, big guy, it was nice chatting with you," Allan said, standing over the shattered remains of its head and staring into its still-blinking eye. "You left us no choice after you tried to eat us."

"We were actually going to spare you if you surrendered. We could have made you a strong familiar," Shade said.

"I wasn’t interested in that. I was going to kill you," Faylen sighed. "But Shade... sometimes he really likes weird monsters."

"G-Gaaah... Gaaaaggh...! G-Guuughh... Heh... hehehe..."

"?"

"?!"

"!!!"

Suddenly, they heard Dumbsaur laughing. His scattered pieces began moving on their own, reassembling around a newly crystallized core that appeared from nowhere. The party stared in shock.

Not only was the thing still alive, but it somehow already had another core?!

"Wait, what’s going on? We shattered his core!" Allan exclaimed.

"This is bizarre. Pulverize it!" Faylen ordered.

But her command came too late. Before they could strike, the body parts assembled into a giant wooden and fleshy cocoon, which absorbed the full force of their attacks. The power of their strikes drained uselessly into it.

Then, the cocoon cracked like an egg and exploded, unleashing a shockwave of miasma that hurled all the heroes several hundred meters back.

"W-What is this?!" Allan shouted.

"Impossible! It has some kind of revival ability?!" Faylen cried.

"It’s not going to be easy, is it?" Shade sighed.

Amidst the smoke, something emerged from the shattered egg—or rather, two giants. Each stood roughly fifty meters tall. Smaller and leaner than before, yet powerfully muscular. They resembled buff lizardmen fused from miasmic mutant plants and dinosaur flesh.

One had the head of a triceratops and a more defensive build, with horns protruding across its body. The other resembled a tyrannosaur, with a massive head built for biting and tearing prey, along with a pair of giant arms instead of the usual tiny ones.

"It seems we were easily defeated, brother."

"Indeed, but it won’t be the same now that we are two!"

They spoke more eloquently than before, their eyes sharper and more focused. The triceratops suddenly conjured dozens of magic circles around itself and launched an assault. Giant wooden spears blazing with miasmic flames erupted from nowhere and hurtled toward the heroes.

Allan smiled, swinging his sword and slicing them all apart with ease. "Well! I guess we’ll have to kill you again! No big deal."

Shade swung his knives and unleashed space-warping void slices, cutting through the magician’s barriers.

However, the tyrannosaur had vanished. It reappeared behind Faylen, swinging its fist and smashing her protective barrier, sending her flying through the sky.

"Annoying magician!" the tyrannosaur laughed. "That’ll take care of you. Now... Let’s fight like men!"
