Chapter 2174: Beating The Crap Out Of Lolth
Chapter 2174: Beating The Crap Out Of Lolth
-----
Unable to bear with her bullshit anymore, I attacked Lolth relentlessly. I unleashed hundreds of rapid slashing attacks and quickly began cutting her body apart piece by piece.
She was completely unable to believe that I had chosen to fight her instead of "negotiating" with her the way she had planned. Her expression twisted as she went completely crazy and started screaming like the insane bitch she truly was.
"GAAAHHH! S-STOP!" Lolth screamed at the top of her lungs. Her divinity surged violently and exploded outward from her chest. She rapidly began recovering her damaged body as she broke my grandfather’s seal with every last bit of power she still possessed. "I WILL DEVOUR YOU INSTEAD! AND GAIN YOUR POWER!!!"
She roared in pure fury and conjured a divine domain around us, trapping me inside its twisted space. Her massive claws immediately rushed toward me from every direction.
"Oh? Really?"
I smiled coldly and swung my sword horizontally once more.
Same technique.
Same form.
"Primordial Yggdragon Sword Style: World-Breaking Genesis Slash."
A single, blinding explosion of countless swirling colors coalesced into one overwhelming attack.
The power contained within that single slash was more than enough to push her backward with tremendous force. Her giant, freshly regenerated claws were sliced into thousands of tiny pieces in an instant.
"A-AAAAAAAAGGGHH!"
As she screamed in agonizing pain, I leaped straight onto her torso and ran across her massive body without hesitation. I used Azure to absorb the thick ambient darkness surrounding us and then fired a concentrated cannon blast from her transformed cannon form.
BOOOMMMMM!!!
A massive beam of pure darkness struck her directly in the chest and pierced a gigantic, smoking hole straight through her body. She vomited a mouthful of black blood and collapsed heavily onto the floor of her own domain.
She had not even been able to defeat me in this weakened state.
"G-GAAAHHH...! HOW...! HOW WEAKENED AM I?!" she cried, tears of thick black miasma streaming from her many eyes. "No...! After everything I did just to survive... after I escaped that world... after I... did those things...! After I turned myself into this beast...! Why...! Whyyyy...!"
She suddenly started crying like a broken child, her voice filled with genuine despair.
"..."
Was she trying to appeal to my pity now? She had truly fallen from grace even further than when she first turned into an Evil Goddess.
But there was still something I could not figure out, and it remained the only reason I had not finished her off yet.
"Why?"
"...What?" she asked weakly, still trembling.
"Why didn’t you kill Ruby’s father? Why did you give him back? I checked him earlier. There was no trace of your power left inside him... why?"
"..."
She fell completely silent. It seemed that not even she fully understood why she had made that choice.
"I... have no idea. My original plan was to exchange him for that girl’s body. If I could have obtained her as my vessel, I would have gained immense power!" she laughed bitterly. "But... but, ugh... I... I don’t know why... she reminded me of myself..."
"...?" I was confused by her words. "She does?"
"..." She looked back at me with her glowing red eyes. "I told you I— Ungh! I told you I don’t know why, okay?! I just did it on the spur of the moment...! I... maybe was moved... for the first time in thousands of years! When I saw you fighting, when they brought Yggdrasil’s presence... the darkness in my heart, for a moment... I... I don’t know, okay?! Uuggh, this is so frustrating! I hate talking about feelings. They’re disgusting! They make you weak! They make you someone that can be easily manipulated! They make you... a pathetic piece of crap..." She shed even more tears as her voice cracked.
I remained in silence for a while as I recalled the many paintings and statues scattered throughout her domain. Then something important came back to me. "Those portraits and statues of that beautiful woman... or... rather, man. Who was that?"
"...!" Her eyes widened for a brief moment before she lowered her gaze in heavy silence.
Man.
Yes, I had noticed it earlier.
"She" had no breasts, and the statues clearly showed a penis.
It was carefully hidden in most of the paintings, but the more detailed statues left no room for doubt.
Maybe I was still confused, but why would someone like Lolth ever care about anybody at all? I needed to know who that figure truly was.
"That’s... the figure I once possessed... my previous... my previous appearance," she sighed at last. "That was me... before my metamorphosis."
I was genuinely surprised. "So you were a human? A-And a man? Huh? So... that’s why you said Ruby reminded you of yourself?!"
"..." She remained quiet for several long seconds. "It doesn’t matter. It’s thousands of years in the past. Are you bringing this up just to mock me more?"
"No. At the end of the day, knowing or not knowing how you used to look, or whether you were a man or not, doesn’t matter to me at all," I said firmly. "But really, that single act of unexpected kindness just saved your life. I genuinely don’t think you’re redeemable in the usual sense, but I am going to use force to make you submit. And I will use your power to save people and protect innocents. That’s exactly what I’m going to do."
"Y-You...! So that’s why you’ve weakened me. You’re going to— No...! Wait! Everything but that!" she screamed in rising horror.
"Lolth, for all your transgressions, for your horrible crimes, for the thousands of people you have killed! I sentence you to eternally help mortals prosper!" I roared with absolute resolve. I pierced her divine core with my hand and forcefully forged a familiar contract with her by bending her will itself until it had no choice but to agree.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" She screamed in pure desperation, completely unable to resist as we suddenly began to see vivid glimpses of each other’s memories flooding between us.
