Chapter 400: CELESTIAL DEVOURER REAPPEARS
Chapter 400: CELESTIAL DEVOURER REAPPEARS
The next day dawned crisp and clear over the Sovereign Court, the air humming with a tense, electric anticipation that seemed to vibrate through the ancient stone walls.
This was the D-day, the long-awaited trial of the former governor.
Sunlight filtered through towering arched windows, casting elongated shadows across the vast chamber, where every surface gleamed with polished marble veined in gold and silver.
Seated high above it all, on elevated thrones that loomed like jagged peaks, were the Sovereigns themselves.
Each one radiated an aura of unyielding power, their forms silhouetted against the bright backdrop of enchanted skylights.
The seats were crafted from rare, ethereal materials, some crystalline and shimmering, others dark and absorbing light symbolizing the might, authority, and exalted standing of these rulers.
Each Sovereign represented their own race, a living embodiment of ancient lineages and cosmic dominion.
Zeus sat central, his thunderous presence crackling faintly with restrained lightning.
Beside him, Odin’s single eye gleamed with piercing wisdom, while Amaterasu’s radiant glow warmed the air around her.
Others followed in a semicircle: elven grace, draconic fire, angelic serenity, and demonic shadow, all united in judgment yet distinct in their essences.
Below them, on a secondary elevated platform, not quite as lofty as the Sovereigns’ but still towering over the common floor, sat the key witnesses and dignitaries.
Their seats were ornate but practical, carved with runes that pulsed softly with protective magic.
Then, on the plain, expansive platform at ground level, stretched the seating areas for the spectators.
Rows of benches filled with a diverse crowd: curious immortals, anxious officials, and silent observers from various realms.
The murmur of hushed conversations filled the space, a low buzz like distant thunder.
This was where Jordan and the rest of Lilian’s team had settled.
Jordan sat close to Lilian, his posture relaxed but his eyes sharp, scanning each Sovereign with a calculative intensity.
He noted the subtle shifts in their expressions, the faint twitch of a brow, the curl of a lip filing away details like pieces in a vast, intricate puzzle.
Lilian leaned slightly toward him, taking advantage of the brief lull before proceedings began.
"How did you manage to get acquainted with those four?" she asked, her voice a quiet whisper amid the growing hum of the crowd.
Jordan’s gaze didn’t waver from the high seats.
"Let’s just say I’m friends with a lot of people," he replied evenly, his tone light but evasive, as if the words were a shield against deeper questions.
The trial unfolded according to the age-old customs of the court, every step precise and ritualistic.
Accusations were read in resonant voices, evidence presented with glowing holographic projections that danced in the air like captured stars.
Witnesses spoke in measured tones, their words echoing off the vaulted ceilings.
As expected, the former governor faced swift condemnation for his negligence of duty.
The Sovereigns deliberated briefly, their voices a chorus of authority, before delivering the verdict with unyielding finality.
The punishment came without mercy: instant obliteration from existence.
Zeus raised one hand, and a blinding bolt of lightning arced from his throne, crackling with raw, divine fury.
It struck the governor in a flash of searing white light, reducing him to nothingness in an instant.
The air sizzled with ozone, the scent sharp and metallic, leaving a heavy silence in its wake.
Lilian watched the spectacle unfold, her face pale under the harsh glow.
Tears welled in her eyes, tracing silent paths down her cheeks, grief for a fallen superior, perhaps, or the stark reminder of justice’s cold edge.
With her duty fulfilled, she gathered her composure and led her team toward the exit.
The group moved in quiet formation, boots echoing softly on the marble as they prepared for the return journey to Aiz.
Jordan, however, lingered behind. He remained seated, gaze still fixed on the now-empty judgment platform.
Lilian glanced back once, noting the quiet confidence in his stance.
Knowing the kind of backing and acquaintances he seemed to command, she chose not to question it.
With a final nod, she let him be, turning away as her team vanished into the corridors.

Later, within a well sealed chambers that prevented eaves dropping Aaron stayed within with his new friends.
"Alright," Aaron said, his voice steady and commanding as he paced slowly before the group. "Is my alibi prepared?"
Thor nodded first, his massive frame casting a long shadow in the dim light.
Loki leaned against the wall with casual nonchalance, while Ignis and Rhaigon stood alert, wings slightly unfurled.
"It’s all covered," Loki replied smoothly, a sly glint in his eyes.
"As for the information you wanted, you should target the Druiz galactic cluster. It has weaker defenses compared to the rest, fewer patrols, outdated wards, and a Sovereign who’s grown complacent over the centuries."
Aaron absorbed the details, his mind already mapping out trajectories and vulnerabilities.
"Hmm. And the Sovereigns? How many are there in total?"
Thor stepped forward, his expression grave.
"About that, no one knows the actual number. Some are kept hidden from the others, shrouded in secrecy for reasons that remain a mystery. Knowledge of the total count is highly guarded, locked away in forbidden archives. But from what I’ve pieced together, I know of at least twenty."
Aaron nodded, filing the intel away like a blade in its sheath.
"Ok. Keep digging for more. Uncover what you can without drawing attention."
He paused, a faint smile touching his lips as excitement stirred within him the thrill of impending action.
"For now," he continued, "I’m off to devour a cluster."
With a casual wave of his hand, dark energy coalesced at his fingertips, swirling into a jagged rift.
The portal tore open with a low, resonant hum, its edges flickering violet against the room’s muted glow.
Beyond it lay the vast, starry expanse of the Druiz cluster, distant lights twinkling like vulnerable prey.
Aaron stepped through without hesitation, the rift sealing behind him with a soft snap.
The group exchanged glances in the sudden quiet, the weight of their alliance settling deeper.
