Chapter 534: SUCCESSFUL NEGOTIATION
Chapter 534: SUCCESSFUL NEGOTIATION
"Let’s have a truce," Aaron called out clearly.
"I don’t want to kill her."
He was speaking to the young girl, but more accurately, to whatever ancient being currently possessed her body.
"Besides," he added, gesturing casually at Shen Lingxue’s fragile form, "I doubt a frail body like hers can withstand your full released strength. So to save us both the tedious hassle of seeing who outlives the other, let’s just end this battle here."
The young girl froze mid-motion.
For several long heartbeats she simply stood there, eyes distant, clearly weighing the offer.
The merged anima hovered behind her like silent guardians, pulsing with restrained power.
Finally, she gave a single, slow nod.
"I will spare you today," the mature, sweet voice spoke through Shen Lingxue’s lips.
"But as a favour for sparing you... protect her with your life."
"Hey," Aaron shot back immediately, irritation flashing across his face.
"Who do you think you are to boss me around like that? I’m not protecting anyone with that kind of attitude."
The temperature in the room seemed to drop several degrees.
"Then I will kill you right here and now," she said, her eyes turning ice-cold.
"You can’t kill me," Aaron replied without flinching.
"Sure, you can hurt me, badly, but I won’t die. And after I survive, you already know what will happen to your precious vessel, don’t you?"
He let the words hang in the air, refusing to be anyone’s puppet.
"You think too highly of yourself," she hissed.
"You think I can’t kill you?"
"I don’t think. I know. And deep down, so do you." Aaron’s tone stayed calm and confident.
"So let’s cut the games and negotiate properly, or this conversation ends right now."
The lady inside the girl fell silent for a long moment, the merged anima flickering uncertainly behind her.
"Fine then," she finally conceded, voice tight.
"What do you want?"
"Wise choice," Aaron smiled, satisfaction gleaming in his cosmic eyes.
He had known from the start he would win this power struggle.
"So, what do you want?" she repeated.
"First," Aaron said, raising a finger, "you never come out of her body again unless absolutely necessary. She will be protected. Second, I will grant her true immortality and a powerful bloodline to make her stronger. You are not allowed to interfere. Relax, nothing fishy will happen."
"Declined," she answered instantly.
"I don’t trust you. You will not be allowed to interfere with her body at all."
"Then no deal," Aaron replied flatly.
"I can’t have you interfering with the girl until the right time. Right now you’re burdening her soul and slowly destroying it. So you need to go into forced slumber."
"For how long?" she asked warily.
"I don’t trust you enough to sleep for too long."
"Valid point," Aaron nodded.
"How about ten years from now? By then her soul should be completely healed."
"You think you can be strong enough to face me in just ten years?" she scoffed.
"You overpraise yourself."
Aaron simply stared at her, his expression making his intentions crystal clear, no bluff, no exaggeration.
She studied him for another long moment before speaking again.
"Then I would love to see you try. Ten years is not enough time to heal her damaged body anyway. I will give you a century. I will enter deep sleep and never wake up... as long as her life is not threatened."
"Now you’re the one being overconfident," Aaron said with a wide, dangerous grin.
"But it works in my favour, so I’m not complaining."
She actually believed he wouldn’t reach her level in a hundred years?
He would definitely be giving her one hell of a surprise when the time came.
The merged anima slowly dissolved back into her chest as the agreement settled between them.
The monochrome world around them began to bleed back into colour, the heavy pressure lifting like a receding tide.
Aaron cracked his neck once, already imagining the day he would stand before the full version of whatever this being truly was.
A century.
Plenty of time to grow... and plenty of time to prepare one unforgettable reunion.
"Very well," the ancient being said through Shen Lingxue’s lips, her voice carrying the finality of a closing tomb.
"Ensure her safety. Fail, and your death will be the most painful any soul has ever suffered."
The warning hung in the air like a blade pressed against skin.
Then, as suddenly as she had appeared, her overwhelming aura vanished completely.
It melted away like morning mist under a rising sun, leaving only silence behind.
The monochrome world shattered in an instant.
Vibrant color flooded back into the ruined hall, rich crimsons, deep golds, and living greens blooming across cracked stone and floating debris.
The merged anima flickered once, twice, then dissolved into harmless sparks that drifted away on an invisible breeze.
Shen Lingxue’s eyes fluttered open, still hazy with confusion.
She took in the shattered surroundings for half a heartbeat, body swaying.
Then her knees buckled.
She pitched forward, consciousness slipping away like sand through fingers.
Aaron moved without hesitation.
He caught her gently in his arms before she could touch the ground, her weight light and fragile against his chest.
Without another word, he tore open a rift and carried her straight into the heart of the sanctuary.
Inside the sanctuary, where his will was absolute and every law bent to his command, he worked with ruthless precision.
He sealed the ancient presence deep within the girl’s soul, layering unbreakable Nightflame chains around the slumbering sliver for hundreds of years.
The system had warned him not to break the agreement outright, so he honored the truce... for now.
After the sealing, Aaron granted her the Alpha Wolf variant bloodline.
It was the perfect match for her volatile, damaged body, wild resilience, sharp instincts, and a core of unyielding strength that would grow alongside her.
He watched the new essence weave into her veins, fur-like shadows flickering briefly across her skin before settling into quiet power.
Finally, he healed her shattered soul and broken body.
With the work complete, Aaron stepped back through the rift and returned to the lower realm.
---
Time flowed on, slow and steady.
A full month slipped by since the brutal clash with the ancient being.
Only one month remained until the tournament Aaron had planned for the Splitting Heaven Sect.
His disciples had trained relentlessly.
Thanks to the accelerated time within the sect’s cultivation grounds, their progress was impressive, bodies stronger, qi denser, techniques sharper than ever.
Yet even with all that growth, Aaron could see the truth clearly.
They still lacked the absolute edge needed to claim total victory.
"Tch." He clicked his tongue in annoyance, rubbing his palms together with growing impatience.
"Come on, luck. Do something useful for once."
He exhaled sharply, then raised his voice with expectant fire in his eyes.
"System draw!"
The familiar chime rang out immediately.
[Congratulations! You have gained the Origin rank item – Infinitum Tower (suppressed).]
"Hmm?"
Aaron’s brows lifted in surprise.
He pulled up the full information on the newly acquired tower, curiosity and anticipation burning bright in his cosmic gaze as he began to browse every detail.
