Chapter 548 548: WRAPPING THINGS UP
Chapter 548 548: WRAPPING THINGS UP
Aaron tightened his grip on the man's throat.
With a sharp, effortless motion, he snapped the neck.
"Kill him!" the Emperor roared, stumbling backward in panic.
"You really think these low-level fools can touch me?" Aaron asked, a calm smile spreading across his face.
"Begun," Aaron said in a quiet, steady voice.
Several demonic cultivators rushed forward at once. They charged toward Aaron with murderous intent, weapons drawn and eyes blazing.
But the moment they moved, something impossible happened.
They realized they could no longer move.
They had already been killed sometime in the future.
The entire arena froze in stunned silence. Everyone stared at Aaron with wide eyes and open shock.
"How did you…" the Emperor asked, his voice trembling as he took another shaky step back.
"You really thought those guys could deal with me?" Aaron replied smoothly, reclining deeper into his chair. "Well, it's not the first time I've seen someone this arrogant."
The Emperor stared at Aaron, raw fear filling his eyes.
"That's it?" Aaron asked casually. "No other hidden move?"
The Emperor continued moving backward. Fear gripped his heart like a vice.
Even his royal guards were shaking in their boots, faces pale with terror.
"Release it," the Emperor said, forcing his voice to stay calm.
"But my lord—" the captain of the royal guard tried to dissuade him.
He was the only one who truly understood the Emperor's dangerous intention.
"I said do it," the Emperor roared. "No questions asked."
"But it will wipe everyone out," the captain explained desperately. "And it hasn't eaten for a long time. We believe it's sick."
"I don't care. Just release it!" the Emperor snapped.
Aaron watched the entire exchange with clear amusement on his face.
Watching the Emperor try to act tough was almost funny.
"You don't have to worry, dear Emperor," Aaron informed him smoothly. "It's already on its way."
"What's on the way?" the Emperor asked, confusion mixing with his fear.
He understood what Aaron meant. He just refused to believe it.
"The reason you had to capture so many people," Aaron said calmly. "The very thing you have been feeding with human flesh."
"You! How did you—?!"
Before the Emperor could finish his sentence, a massive explosion rang out across the arena.
From the heart of the blast, a dark slime emerged. A thick, menacing aura radiated from its shifting form.
The Emperor stared at the creature with a mix of fear and utter surprise.
"How did it escape?" he asked frantically.
"Simple," Aaron replied. "I gave it the strength to do so. As I have always done."
By this time, most of the common folk had already fled in blind fear and panic. Their screams echoed as they ran.
Only the disciples of Splitting Heaven remained perfectly calm. Their faith in Aaron ran deeper than anyone could have expected.
The slime sensed Aaron's presence and leaped toward him at once. It opened its massive, dripping mouth, trying to devour him whole.
"Don't bite more than you can chew if you don't want to die," Aaron said coldly.
He allowed only a small fraction of his aura to flare outward.
The moment that slight pressure was released, everything around him was violently blown away, including the slime.
The creature slammed hard into one of the spectator stands.
Annoyed, it began feasting greedily on the broken rocks and debris. Its body grew even larger with every bite.
Then it opened its mouth wide once more and fired a barrage of hardened rocks straight at Aaron.
The rocks were useless.
A barrier made of folded space appeared in front of Aaron and stopped the attack completely.
The hardened stones shattered harmlessly against the invisible wall, crumbling into dust.
"You are quite the rude slime," Aaron said calmly. "I gave you your strength, you know."
With his hand still resting casually behind his back, he manipulated the water vapor drifting through the air. He controlled just a single drop.
He made the drop land gently on the slime.
Then—boom.
The slime was slammed downward with crushing force, pinned flat against the earth. It could not move even an inch.
Aaron had simply pressed it down by infinitely increasing the density of its own body.
The slime let out a high-pitched shrieking sound. It struggled wildly, twisting and writhing in a desperate attempt to break free. But Aaron gave it no chance to complain.
"Shush. You are being loud," Aaron informed it coldly.
He sealed the slime's mouth shut with a dark sphere that transformed into a tight, unbreakable rope.
The slime tried to devour the black sphere, but it failed completely. The material refused to break or dissolve.
"There. All quiet," Aaron said with a calm smile.
He walked nonchalantly across the ruined arena until he stood directly in front of the pinned creature.
"Are you going to be a good boy," he asked, "or should I force you?"
The slime answered with more unruly thrashing.
"Truly stubborn," Aaron murmured. "Perhaps I should teach you an even further lesson."
His eyes grew cold and sharp. He reached out and began to manipulate the fluid inside the slime's body.
The creature started shrieking even louder. It felt itself being pulled apart from within. The pain intensified with every passing second, sharp and relentless.
Aaron did not listen to the cries.
Instead, the greater the slime's agony, the more he forced its internal fluids to separate.
After thirty long minutes of agonizing torture, he finally let the slime go.
"Now," Aaron asked calmly, "still want to act unruly?"
The slime shook its head quickly, finally becoming completely docile.
"Good. Now we are on the same page," Aaron explained.
The slime's ability to devour anything had intrigued him from the start. He had already decided to keep the creature for himself.
"Now that you're obedient," Aaron told the slime, "I can give you a treat."
He snapped his fingers.
Space itself bent to his will. He pulled every single being who had known about the slime's actions, those who had kept quiet or actively assisted in feeding it. That included the majority of the empire higher echelon.
