Chapter 550: BATTLING VAULT

Chapter 550: BATTLING VAULT

Aaron and Vault stared at each other in silence for a while, the tension between them thick and unmoving.

Then Vault made his move.

He swung his sword at an insane speed toward Aaron.

Being in the Nexus rank, his velocity far exceeded anything Aaron had anticipated.

The air itself seemed to split under the force of the strike.

To avoid the attack, Aaron dilated time. The world around him slowed, granting him the edge he needed.

In that brief window, he counterattacked. His fist drove forward with precision, slamming into Vault and sending him flying backward. Vault’s body tore through the air before crashing violently into a distant mountain.

The mountain was flattened instantly.

Dust and debris filled the air as Vault rose from the wreckage, shaking the dirt off his body as if it meant nothing.

Then, suddenly, his eyes turned crimson.

A halo-like crown manifested above his head, glowing ominously. Six wings unfurled behind him, vast and imposing, while a hollow mask formed over his face.

His hair lengthened, flowing down his back, and two curved horns emerged from his temples.

"I see. So that’s the reason, huh," Aaron muttered, his gaze sharpening.

He stretched out his hand. A black sphere and a white sphere coiled around his palm, spiraling in opposite directions, their energies clashing yet harmonizing.

"You don’t just have demon blood anymore. I can’t even call it that," Aaron continued, a faint smile forming on his face. "It’s something else entirely... a variant that’s no longer demon blood. How did you manage that?"

"He did," Vault replied calmly. "He predicted you might have a way of controlling my bloodline... and he fixed it."

Aaron’s smile thinned. "Who’s he?"

"Someone that wants you dead!" Vault roared as he shot forward.

In an instant, he closed the distance, sword raised, and struck toward Aaron once more.

Aaron reacted immediately, forming a space barrier to block the attack.

But something was wrong.

The aura around Vault’s sword shifted abruptly, changing in a way that made Aaron’s instincts scream. Without hesitation, Aaron retreated, narrowly evading the strike.

The sword passed through the barrier.

Not by breaking it... but by ignoring it entirely.

"And how did you get that sword?" Aaron asked, his mystic eyes narrowing as they analyzed the weapon.

It was far more troublesome than he had initially assumed.

"Courtesy of my employer," Vault replied.

"Hah. Someone wants me dead that badly..." Aaron chuckled lightly. "I wonder what my offense was."

As he spoke, clones began to appear around him, materializing one after another until the area was filled with them.

"Deal with him. I want to analyze the sword," Aaron ordered, stepping back.

Vault glanced around, finding himself completely surrounded.

Ego made the first move.

Flames burst beneath his feet, propelling him forward at high speed. His sharpened claws slashed toward Vault’s face without hesitation.

Vault was ready.

He compressed his energy tightly, then released it in a focused blast. The attack sliced across Ego’s skin—

But did nothing.

Not a scratch.

Ego’s acute senses suddenly picked up movement. The scent of Vault closing in reached him instantly.

He shifted, attempting to reposition—

But he had been deceived.

His senses were thrown into disarray.

Vault wasn’t in front of him.

He was behind him.

The signal Ego detected had been a hoax.

Before Ego could react, Vault’s sword plunged into his shoulder. A strange fluid was injected directly into his body.

"Stay away from him!" Astral shouted, unleashing a blast of dark lightning toward Vault.

Vault reacted effortlessly.

He pulled the sword free from Ego’s shoulder and extended it toward the incoming lightning. The blade absorbed the attack completely, drinking in the energy without resistance.

Then, in the next instant, he redirected it.

The lightning tore back into Ego’s body, ripping him apart from within.

Void responded immediately, firing explosive blood toward Vault while simultaneously manipulating a thread from behind, attempting to bind him.

At the same time, Void tried to pry into Vault’s mind.

But it failed.

Space Weaver moved next, locking the space around Vault, sealing off all escape routes.

Chronos followed, placing a temporal lock over the area, layering time itself into the prison.

Vault was boxed in.

Then Dante appeared.

A newly created clone, summoned specifically for this hunt, he emerged behind Vault with perfect timing.

Assisted by Space Weaver, he positioned himself precisely and placed his gun at the back of Vault’s head, finger ready on the trigger.

It was flawless.

A perfect checkmate.

Vault was completely surrounded, with multiple layers of attacks and restrictions ready to activate at any moment.

Other clones lingered at a distance, prepared to provide backup instantly.

"He was right..." Vault admitted quietly. "I definitely wouldn’t be able to deal with you easily."

A pause.

Then a faint smile crept onto his face.

"But I was never meant to fight this myself."

His hand twisted the handle of his sword.

"Everyone get out of there!" Aaron roared.

Too late.

The sword exploded.

The detonation was instantaneous, so fast that none of the clones could react.

The blast swallowed them whole, consuming everything within its radius.

Aaron stared at the explosion, his expression tightening with clear annoyance.

Moments later, the energy dissipated.

Vault stood alone at the center of the destruction.

The clones were gone.

"What did you do?" Aaron asked, his voice low, anger barely contained in his eyes.

Vault slowly straightened, rising to his feet.

"Are you angry over the death of your clones?" he asked calmly. "Or the fact that from the beginning of this battle until now, you’ve been moving within the palms of someone... without even realizing it?"

The sword in his hand was gone, destroyed in the explosion.

But he no longer needed it.

His appearance had changed.

Sharp claws extended from his hands, like Ego’s.

Thick fur covered parts of his body.

His fangs resembled Void’s, with pale skin, and his face was partially concealed beneath a hood, reminiscent of Astral.
