Chapter 568: NEED TO RETRIEVE HIM
Chapter 568: NEED TO RETRIEVE HIM
"That’s what makes a mystic special," she said, her voice steady and warm.
"When one finally reaches the throne meant for all, the Continuum they created merges completely with the nine entities.
That union helps mend what is broken in the nine entities, while the mystic’s fresh strength flows in to sustain them."
She paused and nodded slowly, checking that Aqua was truly following every word.
"But it seems we don’t have much time on our hands," she continued, her tone growing more serious.
"In our entity, two factions are locked in quiet conflict.
One faction wants to seize control and take the law into their own hands, exploiting the current chaos for their gain.
The other faction fights to preserve order."
"The faction that craves power plans to invade the neighboring entity.
They intend to strip its resources and grow stronger through sheer opportunism."
She gave a small, weary shrug. "As for the faction that values order, the one I belong to, we simply want everything returned to how it once was.
To make that happen, we stop anything that feels out of place, such as an unprovoked invasion of another entity."
Aqua listened closely, his expression thoughtful.
"So you’re saying your purpose here is to guard the rift and keep anyone from your entity from crossing over to invade?"
"Yes. That’s about it," she answered with a firm nod.
"And we also prevent any invasion from the other side—which I have already done," she added, a note of quiet pride in her voice.
Aqua considered her words for a moment. "Then I suggest you let those intruders return home.
It will stop them from raising even more doubt.
If you want, I can wipe their memories of this place and replace them with something harmless instead."
"Hmm. That seems like a good—"
Boom!
The word never left her lips. A deafening explosion ripped through the air without warning.
The entire building shuddered violently as the blast tore it apart from the inside.
Walls cracked and buckled, ceilings collapsed in heavy chunks, and dust exploded outward in thick clouds.
Aqua, the dragon lady, and her loyal drake pet moved with lightning speed.
They burst free from the crumbling structure just before the last walls gave way and slammed into the ground in a heap of broken stone and timber.
A calm, mocking voice drifted across the settling dust.
"I’m sorry, Reina. Did I perhaps disturb your little conversation?" Standing a short distance away was a flame demon.
His posture was relaxed, almost lazy, but his face carried a calm, arrogant smirk that radiated pure confidence.
"Logan. What do you want?" Reina demanded, her eyes narrowing with open disgust and burning anger.
"What everyone wants you dead," Logan replied smoothly.
"But not today. Today I simply want your guest."
"Hmph! You can’t take him under my watch," she scoffed, her voice sharp as a blade.
"We will see about that!" Logan roared, excitement flashing across his features.
He instantly increased the entropy of his body to an overwhelming level.
Space itself bent and tore around him as he breached the boundary in a blink.
He appeared directly between Reina and Aqua, hand already stretching out to seize his target.
Reina reacted with equal speed.
She clamped her fingers around his wrist in an iron grip and, using every ounce of her strength, hurled him away like a discarded rag.
Logan shot through the air like a living projectile and crashed hard into the earth, sending dirt and rock flying.
"Ouch, Reina. That hurt," he muttered, pushing himself up with a grin still plastered on his face.
"I say we go for round two." Once more he surged with chaotic entropy, slipping past every natural boundary.
He reappeared right in front of Reina.
Logan swung a powerful punch straight at her.
She caught it effortlessly in her palm.
Reina countered instantly, launching a fierce kick toward his side, but Logan twisted away just outside her reach.
He opened his mouth wide and unleashed a barrage of searing flames.
Reina answered in kind, parting her own lips and releasing a matching torrent of fire.
The two breaths collided and canceled each other out in a roaring burst of heat and light.
Without hesitation, Reina accelerated every particle in her body with inner flames and closed the distance in a blur.
She grabbed hold of Logan and, with raw power, drove him downward, pummeling him into the ground with a thunderous impact.
Then she launched herself upward into the open air, wings flaring for balance.
Reina opened her mouth once more, drawing on everything she had, and released a devastating dragon’s breath that lit up the sky with unrelenting fury.
The dragon’s breath consumed Logan entirely, swallowing him in a roaring torrent of unrelenting flames.
His agonized scream tore through the air, a raw and piercing testament to the devastating power of the attack.
"You should have stayed in your own territory," Reina said coldly once the flames finally faded.
She turned her back on what she believed was Logan’s charred remains and began walking away without a second glance.
"Oh, Reina... you really are special. I feel like hugging you forever!!"
The perverted, singsong voice sliced through the silence and reached Reina’s ears.
She stopped dead in her tracks, frozen in momentary shock.
She had been absolutely certain she had defeated Logan for good this time.
Reina spun around sharply, her eyes wide with disbelief as she tried to understand how he could possibly have survived such a crushing strike.
Boom!
Before she could fully react, a savage punch slammed into her midsection and sent her flying backward through the air.
"I genuinely love playing with you, Reina," Logan informed her casually as he stood tall once more.
"But I’ve been given a task. I need to retrieve him."
He looked completely untouched.
Not a single burn, scratch, or wound marked his body, as though her full-powered attack had never even touched him.
