Chapter 570: TEST
Chapter 570: TEST
Aaron sat on the cold surface of a dead star, eyes closed in a peaceful nap.
He had pushed far beyond his limits and reached 90 stars within the universal quadrant rank.
It was an anomaly, the first of its kind.
Normally, a cultivator needed to hit 10 stars in the universal quadrant before they could even dream of stepping into the paradox rank.
But Aaron had never followed conventional paths.
Using his mystic eyes, he had managed to stack far more stars at the universal quadrant level without ever increasing his actual rank.
"Ten more stars and then I move on to the paradox rank," Aaron muttered under his breath.
He knew the limit was 100 stars. After that, he would have no choice but to advance, that was the absolute ceiling for how much he could compress his power.
"That’s 92... 94... 98... 100. Perfect."
While he rested, his clones handled the endless task of devouring for him.
After receiving full assurance from his system that Aegon could no longer seize control of any clone he created, Aaron had finally decided to put them to full use.
He had wanted to call back Aqua and Nightflame, rebuild them completely, and protect them from falling into Aegon’s grasp.
But no matter how hard he tried, he could not sense either of them anywhere.
Reaching exactly 100 stars, Aaron finally prepared to advance into the paradox rank.
He had already created his own essence, and not just one. He had many, exactly the way he preferred it.
"This is going to be tricky," Aaron thought, a faint smile tugging at his lips.
His advancement would be far more delicate than most others.
First, he had stacked all 100 quadrant stars before even attempting the step up. Second, he carried an overwhelming number of essences.
Usually, a cultivator could only gain one essence before entering the paradox rank.
In rare cases, two or three might appear. But more than four? That level of complexity was almost unheard of.
[Are you sure this will work?]
the system asked.
"Trust me. I got this," Aaron assured it calmly.
He sat down cross-legged and began the process.
At first, complications arose.
The chances of failure felt dangerously high.
But Aaron pushed through the turbulence, refining and stabilizing every essence until success finally bloomed.
[Congratulations! You have reached the paradox rank!]
The paradox rank, a level of power where one could stand toe-to-toe with an entire multiverse.
[You have received a lucky draw as a reward.]
"Hopefully I don’t draw something mid," Aaron muttered.
But just as he reached out to claim his reward, his sharp eyes caught sight of someone standing a few thousand kilometers away.
"You must be the seedling," the man said. In the next instant, he flickered and appeared directly in front of Aaron.
"Yes. And you are?" Aaron asked, keeping his tone even.
"Triple A. I was sent to test you — to see if you are truly worthy of being raised as a seedling," he replied smoothly.
"Gee, thanks. But I’m not a seedling. So you can be on your way," Aaron informed him, waving his hand dismissively.
He turned back, ready to claim his lucky draw reward.
"I will use 50% of my strength. Try not to die," Triple A said.
Without another word, he moved in a blinding blitz of speed.
He appeared behind Aaron in a flash and drew a kunai, aiming a sharp stab at his back.
Aaron caught the attacking hand with effortless precision, his reaction speed beyond insane.
"What do you think you are doing?" Aaron asked, voice steady.
"Doing what I’m here for," Triple A answered.
He twisted Aaron’s arm with sudden force, then delivered a powerful kick straight to his chin.
In the same fluid motion, he leaped upward, grabbed Aaron by the collar, and hurled him across the dead star’s surface.
"Sixty percent of my strength," Triple A informed Aaron calmly. "Let’s see if you can handle it."
Aaron crushed a dead nebula between his fingers without a second thought. An annoyed glint flashed in his eyes as the cosmic dust scattered across the void.
"So many people keep acting rudely in front of me these days," he muttered, stretching his arms lazily.
His hands morphed smoothly into sharp, powerful claws of a werewolf, dark energy crackling along the edges.
Aaron void-stepped forward in an instant, appearing directly in front of Triple A.
He swung his clawed hands, each strike cloaked in pure destruction.
Triple A dodged the attack with nimble grace, his gaze remaining perfectly neutral.
Blinking once with a faint hint of amusement, Triple A drew his kunai and sliced cleanly through the air in front of him.
Aaron had hidden a second attack within the first. The destruction and claws had only been cover for the invisible gale shredder he had released alongside them.
But Triple A had seen right through the layered assault.
Triple A disappeared in a flicker, using an illusion — the oldest trick in the book.
Before Aaron’s mystic eyes, however, there was no place to hide.
"Primordial sea," Aaron said calmly.
In the next instant, the entire space around them flooded with the ancient, primordial sea.
"You... How can you use primordial water?" Triple A asked, genuine surprise coloring his voice for the first time.
"None of your business," Aaron replied flatly. "Infinite density!"
The water surrounding Triple A suddenly increased in weight infinitely, pressing down on him with crushing force and driving him straight toward the ground.
"Sever!" Triple A muttered.
He slashed once with his kunai, cutting the primordial sea apart and destroying it completely in a single clean strike.
And then Triple A moved again, flickering completely out of sight in a blur of motion.
In the next heartbeat, he reappeared directly above Aaron, unleashing a storm of kunai knives that sliced through the void toward him with lethal precision.
Aaron reacted instantly, summoning a swirling black hole right in front of him to devour the incoming barrage.
But the kunai cut straight through the black hole’s hungry pull, unaffected, and continued racing toward Aaron with deadly speed.
Seeing that the black hole was useless against the attack, Aaron quickly created a roaring wall of flames that rose up like a blazing shield, completely blocking the kunai and incinerating them on contact.
Time-stepping forward, Aaron vanished and reappeared directly in front of Triple A. He stretched out his hand with calm focus.
"Devour!" Aaron commanded, his voice steady.
His hands transformed in an instant, morphing into a massive, gaping mouth lined with razor-sharp teeth that hungered for its target.
Aaron consumed Triple A whole in one swift motion.
Yet the expected surge of energy never came. He quickly rechecked the space around him and realized it had only been a substitution technique — a clever decoy.
"He is good," Aaron muttered, a hint of respect slipping into his tone.
Without missing a beat, he stretched his hand outward once more. Bones erupted from his palm and rapidly formed into a long, gleaming sword.
"Equinox," Aaron said, swinging the bony blade in a wide arc.
A powerful attack burst forth, combining pure light and absolute darkness into a single, razor-sharp line of energy that screamed across the battlefield.
