Chapter 571: GOOD SEEDLING
Chapter 571: GOOD SEEDLING
"Sever!" Triple A muttered from his new position.
With a single precise slash of his katana, he crushed the Equinox attack into nothing, shattering the combined forces of light and darkness as if they were fragile glass.
"Hmm. What kind of energy did you use?" Aaron asked, intrigue sparking in his tone.
"Chakra," Triple A answered. "I’m a ninja. This is good enough. You pass."
"Pass for what?" Aaron asked, confusion clear on his face.
"Being a good seedling," Triple A replied simply.
"The hell is a good seedling? What nonsense are you talking about?" Aaron demanded, still baffled.
"He will explain it better," Triple A said.
He ripped open a scroll without another word.
The instant the scroll tore, time and space twisted violently for a few heartbeats before everything stabilized once more.
The next moment, a powerful being materialized before them.
A wave of overwhelming might rolled outward. The entire area froze the second he appeared.
"Aaron Highborn. We meet again."
"Aetherion," Aaron said, recognizing the figure immediately.
He remembered Aetherion clearly, his contracted partner from before.
After inviting him the last time and watching him destroy an entire universe, Aaron had chosen never to summon him again.
"I see you have grown. Faster than I predicted," Aetherion praised, his voice deep and resonant.
"And I see you finally think it’s alright to talk to me," Aaron replied, keeping his tone even.
"I don’t have much time to be here, or I will burden this particular nexus," Aetherion explained.
"I’ll keep it simple. You are worthy to receive resources from us and be raised to fight against the absolutes."
"Yeah. No thanks," Aaron replied flatly, his voice carrying zero interest.
"I’m not in any way interested in battling alongside you. Nor do I need your resources to grow. I’ll be perfectly fine on my own."
"Do not be stubborn," Aetherion said, his tone growing heavier.
"This concerns you greatly. The Transcendents and Absolutes have long prevented Primordials from advancing. Only by sharing our resources and forcefully raising a few chosen ones to the Absolute rank can we challenge their authority."
"And that is exactly what seedlings mean," he added with emphasis.
"Exactly, Aaron Highborn," Aetherion continued.
"Now that everything is out in the open, I will provide you with the necessary resources and methods to advance quickly, first to the Primordial rank, then straight to the Absolute rank. We do not have time on our hands."
Aaron tilted his head slightly. "Quick question. How can newly advanced Absolutes dare to challenge long-standing Transcendents?"
"One of us has already broken through to the Transcendent realm and prepared solid footing for the rest of us," Aetherion explained.
"Great. Who is that someone? I should at least know who I’m supposedly working with."
"He is the one in charge," Aetherion said. "You will simply be under him. His name is Chen Mo."
"Hah!" Aaron burst out laughing loudly, the sound ringing across the barren surface of the dead star.
But his facial expression and body language told an entirely different story.
His eyes turned cold as ice, and a dangerous aura began leaking from him freely.
The pressure around him increased, cold and suffocating.
"Calm yourself, Aaron Highborn. You have no reason to be acting out," Aetherion said calmly.
He released his own pressure, matching Aaron’s exactly and canceling it out in a silent clash of power.
"No reason?" Aaron’s voice dropped low and sharp.
"First of all, I don’t work for anyone. I don’t even work with anyone. I am the one people work for. And lastly, Chen Mo is not an ally to me. In fact, he is someone I’m going to kill."
This time, it wasn’t Aaron who reacted with anger.
It was Aetherion.
"Aaron Highborn. Do you know the gravity of the words you just spat out?" Aetherion asked, clearly pissed off now.
His full pressure erupted completely, shattering everything around them in an instant.
Space ripped apart like torn fabric.
Time itself halted for a brief moment, yet none of it was enough to quell Aetherion’s rising fury.
"I do," Aaron answered steadily. "Perhaps you might be his loyal pet. I don’t care. But I’m going to kill him."
"Then you will have to die, Aaron," Aetherion said calmly.
It sounded like a judge delivering a final verdict.
"You can’t hurt me," Aaron replied, equally calm. "We are still contracted."
"I will simply break it," Aetherion said coldly.
He searched deep within himself for the contract and tried to rip it apart with raw force.
But it was useless. He couldn’t break the contract no matter how hard he pushed.
Normally, breaking a contract would cause him astronomical damage, yet it could still be done.
This time, however, the contract felt like an impossible lock that refused to budge.
"What did you do?" Aetherion asked, staring at Aaron in open confusion.
"Nothing much," Aaron replied with a small shrug. "My soul is just damn strong."
It was one of the many benefits of his Nine Heaven Nameless Soul.
Contracts formed with him could never be broken.
"It’s a shame though," Aaron muttered, sounding a little robbed.
"This only means you can’t attack me and nothing else. Since it’s an equal contract, you can still refuse my demands."
"Aaron Highborn. You are better than I expected," Aetherion admitted.
"But little worry. If I can’t kill you myself, someone else can." He turned slightly. "Triple A, kill him."
Triple A nodded once, his expression unchanging.
He switched from his kunai to a long katana blade, the motion a clear testament to his seriousness.
"Allow me to formally introduce myself now that this will be your last moment," Triple A said.
"I’m Triple A. A ninja from the Void Village."
And then, silently, he disappeared, blinking completely out of sight.
He reappeared an instant later directly behind Aaron.
Aaron could follow the movement with his eyes, but his body lagged behind, too slow to react in time.
In the face of the incoming lethal strike, Aaron remained perfectly calm.
"System draw."
