Chapter 1057: Protesting
Chapter 1057: Protesting
Veronica relaxed her emotion and opened the town’s panel. This town’s panel contained the overall layout of the town, including its reputation, population, and revenue.
It was a special privilege granted to her by the town’s owner aka the Guild Leader.
Without their Guild Leader’s permission, no one could access the town’s panel.
As she stared at the town’s panel, she sighed and laughed at the same time.
Her eccentric behavior caused both the team leaders to be somewhat confused and nervous about her condition.
They thought the pressure and stress might have gotten into her.
After all, the Guild Commanders couldn’t be contacted, and even if they could, they still wouldn’t dare to do so. The same goes for the Guild Leader whose whereabouts currently remain unknown to all.
Hence, the current Vanguard Guild only had Veronica in charge of most tasks.
Many things required her direct approval to commence. Even a god would become exhausted when they were overwhelmed in such a manner.
"Should we come back at another time, Guild Captain?" Blue Star asked in concern.
"Yeah, we can simply ignore the protest for now because the influx of players in the town is still rising." Dark Night quickly chimed in.
Needless to say, the two of them didn’t want to see their Guild Captain collapse.
If even the Guild Captain went missing, then the Vanguard Guild would be left in shambles.
"There’s no need to delay the matter." Veronica took a deep breath and said.
"Tell the protesters outside that our guild is trying to accommodate them, but we lack the necessary funds. If any player wishes to enjoy the benefit of the town and avoid waiting for a long time, then anyone who donates more than 30 gold coins would automatically have a reserve slot for 3 months."
"Reserve slot?" Astonished, both Dark Night and Blue Star glanced at each other simultaneously.
Clearly, they were dumbfounded by the arrangement and wondered if now was the time to ask for a donation.
Rather than a donation, they might soon receive fierce retaliation outside the town.
Even though there were many NPC guards patrolling and the town itself was like a solid fortress, players could still camp out in the wilderness to target the players exiting the town.
Naturally, such action wouldn’t harm their town much because most players came here for the training hall and the built-in arena that enabled them to practice against others right away.
However, there would still be some who needed to head outside the wilderness to complete their mission.
These missions were all posted by the Adventure Association and Mercenary Association—something that Xu Feng spent a long time to build the bridge of connection and convince them to open a branch in their town.
"There’s no need to worry about my decision. The current town population is already steady and the reputation is also on the rise. What we lack now is the revenue. As long as we reach a certain revenue goal, then we can promote the town to 2 stars and expand the area." Veronica explained.
Initially, the town’s promotion was meant to be set in motion 1-2 months from the previous meeting.
But who could have imagined the scandalous posts, followed by multiple negative streaks at Reave Town would result in a mass migration?
For a town to be promoted from 1 star to 2 stars, there were 3 major factors: Revenue, Reputation, and Population.
Population was the easiest to achieve because their town was located at a prime spot. It would be ridiculous for them to not reach high capacity.
The second easiest was reputation. Due to Xu Feng’s effort in rallying and building many good rapports from those at Star Falls City, it would only be a matter of time for reputation to rise.
Only the revenue aspect was the hardest because the town needed to have a steady income of at least 10,000 gold coins in a month.
The 10,000 gold coins must be a net income and not a gross income.
For those unaware of the gross and net income, gross income was basically the overall money earned without any deduction in taxes and other fees.
Meanwhile, net income was the actual money earned after all deductions.
With the town’s entry fee being charged at 10 silver coins, and a town’s capacity of 10,000 players, that would be equivalent to 1,000 gold coins profit.
However, part of those profits needed to be allocated to the NPC guards and even the guild members who were patrolling consistently in blind spots plus the wilderness in a certain radius.
After all those deductions, it would already be amazing if they netted over 700 gold coins.
Because other than those fees, there were also the fees to maintain the town’s facility. Each facility varied from one another, but the training hall was definitely costing the most to function and operate.
As more players flock in, the Vanguard Guild was required to hire more qualified NPC trainers on par with Brutus and Razor.
"Anyway, what’s the current reserve slot we have available?" Veronica asked.
"We only have a little bit over 100." Blue Star reported. "But those 100 are all used up for the friendly guilds and those in the chamber of commerce."
"Forget about the friendly guilds," Veronica said. "Since most of the friendly guilds have already arrived, there’s no need to reserve for them anymore."
"Understood, Guild Captain." Blue Star received the order.
Once that was decided, Veronica shifted her attention to Dark Night."You will head to the protesting area and tell them that we will offer up the remaining vacancies to those who bid the highest. As for the numbers, you can follow it up with Blue Star."
Dark Night nodded. "Then I will trouble you, Blue Star."
"Rest assured, I’ll give you the numbers in a few minutes."
Soon, the two exited the office and Veronica leaned to the back of her chair, her eyes staring at the ceiling.
"I also want to be an idle person. The Guild Leader and Carmen are so hateful." She cried in agony.
