Chapter 1058: Burpe’s Abnormal Reaction

While Veronica experienced an episode of regret and bitterness, back at the Phantasm Sea Legacy Part 3 of 7, Xu Feng had made great progress with the help of Burpe.

"Another trap?" Xu Feng’s eyes lit up and warmly rubbed Burpe’s head. "Oh, you are really the successor of the trap dismantler!"

"Hehe, it’s no big deal." Burpe giggled gleefully and pointed in another direction. "There’s no more traps anymore and only a private room left."

Nodding, Xu Feng swiftly controlled the warship to head over the direction.

Sometime later, they arrived at a large stone door that seemed tightly sealed.

Besides the tight sealing, there were also many engravings in the door.

"Can you phase through the door and unlock it?" Xu Feng turned to Burpe and inquired. He thought that with the latter’s ability to phase through any object, he could save himself the trouble in trying to decipher the mechanism to enter.

Alas, it appeared that even Burpe was stumped this time.

Burpe shook their head and said with a bitter tone. "The door blocks my phasing. I was never able to enter inside. Only Master Bea was capable of opening the door."

"Only your Master huh..." A bit taken aback, Xu Feng’s eyes trailed to the stone door and wondered what method a siren would use to lock something.

He rubbed his chin softly and inspected the door. He tried to steer the warship closer, but found there was a transparent barrier preventing him from advancing.

Just when he was pondering the next step, the Phantasm Map began to glow a dim but subtle light.

In the next instance, the transparent barrier started to dissipate, but not fully.

It only opened slightly just enough space for the warship to pass by.

Both Xu Feng and Burpe glanced at each other in silence.

"As expected of the Sea Traveler. A path that even I cannot phase through is easily opened by you, the prophecy Sea Travler!" Burpe erupted into cheers and clapped their hands very innocently.

"Uh, no, it’s the map that did it." Xu Feng smiled awkwardly and explained the circumstance. He felt guilty to receive Burpe’s cheering when he basically did nothing.

"The map only reacted because of you, Sea Traveler. Without your presence, the map won’t react and open a passage for us." Burpe smiled and corrected.

Seeing that Burpe was adamant in pinning the title "Sea Traveler" to him, Xu Feng was helpless.

He knew arguing or trying to explain wouldn’t help much. Since it was Burpe’s Master who had pinned the title to him, then Burpe would only recognize that as such.

’How did this turn into some prophecy at play?’ He exhaled softly. It was never fun to have so much expectation placed on yourself. With so much expectation, the pressure was bound to be insane.

Thankfully, Xu Feng was used to such pressure and could adapt. Otherwise, wouldn’t the Divine World kill the player through psychological aspects alone?

Sometime later, Xu Feng quickly controlled the warship to enter through the transparent barrier.

As the warship advanced forward, the atmosphere seemed to have undergone a great change.

There was a cold chill and the place was desolate. Spiderwebs were scattered across the walls and the pin drop silence made the scene look like it was from a horror movie.

"This is scary." Burpe cried aloud and darted toward Xu Feng’s arm. It then burrowed deeply in his arms to avoid seeing the scene.

Initially, Xu Feng thought it was just being a scaredy cat. But soon, his eyes narrowed when he sensed something was amiss with Burpe.

Rather than frightened or terrified, Burpe seemed to be having some kind of reaction in this particular area.

’Could it be that Burpe is related to the Sea Legacy?’ He narrowed his eyes.

Having zero idea of the Phantasm Sea Legacy, he couldn’t voice out this particular possibility.

Unsure of what was happening with Burpe, he tried to wrap his arm more tightly around it.

"Berop..." Burpe shivered uncontrollably. It was shivering so hard that it couldn’t muster up any proper speech and reverted back to beroping.

Alarmed, Xu Feng hurriedly tried to redirect the warship to retreat from the scene.

But to his astonishment, the moment he approached the steering wheel, Burpe’s body seemed to have calmed down.

Upon further inspection, the Phantasm Map by the side was actually spreading some light particles and entering Burpe’s body.

Without hesitation, Xu Feng brought Burpe closer to the map. In the blink of an eye, Burpe reacted with the map and began to close its eyes, seemingly going to a dormant state.

Seeing that Burpe no longer shivered wildly, Xu Feng cautiously advanced the warship. He would occasionally glance at Burpe to check on their condition. He was only relieved when it was confirmed that the map could alleviate Burpe’s symptoms.

’Just what is your identity, Burpe?’ He furrowed his brows and wondered.

Based on this small episode, he would be a fool to not understand that Burpe should hold major significance in this Phantasm Sea Legacy.

Not only was Burpe unrestricted in most of its movement, but it was also somehow blockaded at the precise location of the Sea Heart shard.

A few moments later, Xu Feng anchored the warship closer to the land. He wanted to bring Burpe alongside. But when he recalled how it reacted once it was away from the Phantasm Map, he decided against it.

’Forget it. Burpe already worked hard enough.’ He shook his head and secured Burpe tightly to the map before getting off the warship.

Without any seawater to sail at, he could only go on foot.

As he stepped on the land, Xu Feng carefully held his Convergence Staff and cast a passive protection barrier around him.

What faced him was a large vast empty space with only the occasional hallowing sound echoing.

’Good thing I can still control the hydro cannon remotely.’ Xu Feng thought to himself. If the enemies were all around the same level as those outside the Phantasm Sea, then exploring here would be suicidal.
