Chapter 1259: Origin Trial 2.0 Part 4
Shortly after deciding on the plan to take control of the patrolling robots, Xu Feng exited Mike’s room and began walking around.
Because of Mike’s originally inconspicuous appearance, the people he passed by barely gave him a glance.
In fact, it wasn’t an exaggeration to say that nobody even detected Mike’s presence. He was such an invisible man that if it weren’t for the scanners, the people on the Battleship might have mistaken him for some stowaway.
’The security seemed to have increased.’ Xu Feng frowned at the numerous patrolling robots and NPC guards in the vicinity.
With each passing turn, he was ordered to stop and show his ID to verify his identity.
What made the atmosphere more gloomy was that the screen depicted a woman’s corpse with the label traitor: Aera Vance.
It was as if the System wanted him to remember that his mission came with a cost.
Aera Vance was someone Xu Feng met in the very beginning of the first Origin Trial. She even granted him a Grade A passing.
Unfortunately, the trial was ruthless and essentially made her a sacrificial pawn to cover his escape.
This particular event had caused Xu Feng quite a mental burden back then. He wondered if he had made a different choice, then maybe she would have still been alive.
"What’s with the screen that keeps on displaying this traitor bitch?"
"I know, right. To think I held some respect for her in the past. Someone like her being a supervisor is a stain to Battleship Lux."
"Don’t forget about that Trainee Michael. The broadcast already mentioned how he was with the traitor woman and is still at large."
As Xu Feng walked by some other trainees, their discussion was like a provocation to him.
Without a doubt, Xu Feng was certain it was designed by the System to test his mental fortitude.
Whether he could endure and restrain himself was a key point in accomplishing his mission.
He planned on ignoring the conversation until the screen changed to a motion picture.
Dumbfounded, Xu Feng glanced at the screen with a cold expression.
...
"Surrender yourself and give up your companion!" A robot demanded, its robotic arm holding a rifle.
"I refused!" Aera scoffed; her expression remained firm and determined.
"This ship has been—"
Before Aera’s speech was completed, the video cut it off and fast-forwarded to the robots firing their rifles at Aera.
In the end, Aera’s body became like a porcupine, having been shot in every possible flesh. As if that wasn’t brutal enough, the robots proceeded to dissect her corpse and toss out the internal organs into outer space.
"Traitor Aera has been exterminated. Commence operation to find her companion." The robots then echoed in a lifeless manner.
...
The video ended at that moment, with a new wanted poster depicting Michael’s appearance and his division to inform the rest of the Battleship Lux personnel.
’You really are testing my patience.’ Xu Feng’s mood darkened as he watched the video on replay after the wanted poster stuck around for 5 seconds.
It was clear that the compromised Commander hoped that Aera’s companion would never miss her demise.
Such an action was not just a taunt, but a blatant declaration to tell them to show up or forever hide like a rat.
Xu Feng took a deep breath and regulated his emotions.
What had been done was done already.
He must move forward and accomplish the task. That was definitely what Aera wished for when she kept his location hidden.
Sometime later, Xu Feng arrived at the robot’s facility, where he was halted by a robot.
"Halt, state your identity and clearance level!" The robot demanded.
"Trainee Mike, under the order of Supervisor Ryan, to retrieve some robots for further reconnaissance work." Xu Feng reported, effectively bringing up Ryan’s name to the front.
He still recalled how this NPC targeted the original Mike repeatedly. Since that was the case, he might as well pour dirty water on him.
The robot received the information and began searching for relevant data.
A few minutes later, the robot informed him.
"Apologies, but no such record has been made. Authorization to enter the robots facility has been denied."
"That’s impossible! Supervisor Ryan said this was a direct order from the Commander to ensure the traitor Trainee Michael would be captured." Xu Feng insisted.
Once again, the robot was about to search for relevant data to confirm the words. But little did it anticipate that Xu Feng took the chance to inject a virus chip into its database.
The robot wanted to retaliate, but it was too late.
Xu Feng had purposely given false information to determine the time it took the robot to verify and confirm the news. He also made sure to pay attention to their movement and vulnerability.
Moreover, thanks to Mike’s meticulousness in his duty, he recorded all the robots produced by the facility in great detail.
This is why one should never underestimate anyone!
The most inconspicuous member of the reconnaissance team was actually more thorough and detailed than the higher-ups.
In the blink of an eye, the robot was successfully hacked and under Xu Feng’s control.
"Start inputting data that Supervisor Ryan wishes to access the robot facility personally to search for traitor Trainee Michael. Erase all information of Trainee Mike from appearing here." Xu Feng instructed.
"Command received." The robot then beeped a few times, indicating that the information had been recorded and transmitted.
With that being done, even if the compromised Commander found something was amiss, their target would be Supervisor Ryan.
’If you want to blame anyone, then you can only blame yourself for being a trash person.’ Xu Feng held no empathy toward Ryan, who abused others with his authority.
However, the premises still lay on the fact that the corrosion in the trial had already begun to affect Xu Feng’s mind.
In the previous trial, the corrosion became so intense that he nearly believed himself to be that person.
"Looks like I really can’t delay any longer." He felt an aching pain in his head, feeling like the corrosion was more potent than in the first trial.
