Chapter 1353: Demoness Army Part 6
Chapter 1353: Demoness Army Part 6
"Wow, a mission triggered!" Carmen gasped and said in surprise.
"Yeah, I didn’t expect this kind of surprise either." Xu Feng smiled bitterly.
He really had no other plans aside from helping Evelyn out and getting the Ethereal Stone.
This emblem was really an accident!
"Boss, should we do something about this?" Ken asked in concern. Although he didn’t work for the empire, his heart and loyalty were still on humanity’s side.
His question was a probe and also a test to see whether Xu Feng was someone they should work for.
Xu Feng remained unaware of it, but still managed to pass the test.
"This kind of discovery must be promptly reported to the empire. Nothing can be amiss in this war against the Colossus." He narrowed his eyes and said solemnly. In this war, he cannot afford to allow the Colossus to win, no matter what. Otherwise, all the hard work he had accomplished till now would all go down the drain.
Of course, there still contained traces of loyalty within him toward the empire.
After all, they hadn’t mistreated him and even indulged him in quite a few demanding requests.
It was totally not because he got promoted in nobility and could receive more benefits that made him appreciate them!
"Boss, should we send someone to report this news back?" Amidst Xu Feng justifying his morality, Ken began to inquire about how to deal with the situation.
"No worries, I’ve already assigned someone to do the task." He calmly said.
It was just right that Zhao Kai was currently near the Aetheria Empire alongside the Lightning Blade team.
Since that was the case, he simply needed to store the emblem in the guild warehouse, with access level only permissible to an eligible rank.
In such a way, Zhao Kai could easily retrieve the emblem and do the mission on behalf of the Vanguard Guild as a whole.
Although not many people had complained about Zhao Kai’s role as Guild Commander, Xu Feng still needed to give the former some achievements to justify his rank.
After all, his popularity wasn’t like Carmen’s, who could do whatever she wanted in the guild, and the members would still cheer excitedly.
"Hmm, you’re sending Kai to do the task?" Carmen raised an eyebrow.
"Yup, they are closest to the empire to deliver this news."
"Indeed, Kai also needs to build his prestige. Recently, there’s been some malicious rumors circulating around that the Vanguard Guild is only functioning because of the Guild Captain."
Xu Feng nodded in agreement. He was certain that many also wanted to criticize him, but dared not to.
"Okay, let’s resume the journey to the Oracle Region." He stood up and instructed Ken.
"Yes, Boss." Ken didn’t know what method Xu Feng used, but he believed that Immortals had their means to deliver swift information. He also doubted Xu Feng would lie about such an important matter.
After all, he was a true noble for the empire. There was no merit for him in betraying the empire.
"Everyone, collect the loot and prepare to resume traveling!" Ken exclaimed loudly and reorganized the army.
While Xu Feng and Carmen got back to their mount, elsewhere, a team was grinding monsters to level up.
SLASH!
A monster plopped to the ground under the lightning-fast sword slash from Lightning Blade.
"Guild Commander, are you alright?"
Lightning Blade asked when Zhao Kai suddenly stopped moving, which nearly caused him to die from the high-level monster.
"Ah, the Guild Leader sent an assignment to us." Zhao Kai snapped out of his daze and relayed the information.
"An emblem from the empire’s scout army??!"
Sure enough, Lightning Blade, Skyfire Mist, and FreeLancer from the Hex Team were all stupefied on the spot.
They came here to assist their Guild Commander in catching up on levels. Yet somehow, they now received a mission that was related to the second major update.
’As expected... assisting the Guild Commander is the right way!’ Lightning Blade cheered internally. He just knew someone with this kind of rank definitely had connections with the Guild Leader in the real world.
Although nepotism wasn’t promoted within the guild, everyone knew there were bound to be some loopholes.
And Zhao Kai was one such example, albeit not quite either. After all, he did earn his rank through the Evershade City contribution, but not everyone acknowledged it.
"Anyway, the leveling will have to be cut short now." Zhao Kai clasped his hands. "The Guild Leader’s mission cannot be delayed. He told us that we must do this fast to get the best reward."
"Yes, Guild Commander!" The trios from the Hex Team all obeyed Zhao Kai’s instruction.
Sometime later, the four men entered the Aetheria Empire.
The usual liveliness was gone, and was replaced with a gloomy and dreadful atmosphere.
"Seems like the war has affected people here." Zhao Kai remembered his last visit to the empire was extremely bustling. There was laughter everywhere, and even children fooling around in the streets.
But now, the streets were almost empty, and soldiers were patrolling with vigilance.
"Yeah, I’ve heard the economy has been rising hard too." Lightning Blade smiled bitterly. The prices were so insane as of late that many players were starting to become penny pinchers.
Demands increased, but supplies decreased substantially.
Had it not been for Zhao Kai securing Evershade City, their Vanguard Guild would have suffered tremendously.
Many other lower-rate guilds were forced to disband because of the terrible economy and had to join higher-rate guilds to survive.
"When a video game behaves no differently than reality, I wonder if we’re still players or actual living beings here." Lightning Blade lamented. He was someone who quit his real-world job to work full-time in the Divine World.
Luckily, he chose the Vanguard Guild to pledge allegiance. Otherwise, he might be suffering bankruptcy like many other players who gambled and joined the wrong guild. Guilds such as those that got banished for provoking the Vanguard Guild and other Super Guilds.
