Chapter 1354: Aetheria Empire Part 1
Chapter 1354: Aetheria Empire Part 1
"Halt, this place is restricted!" A Tier 3 guard of the Aetheria Empire warned sternly upon spotting four people approaching the Military Headquarters.
"Greetings, Guard, we are here because we discovered something major during our expedition." Zhao Kai cupped his fist and said respectfully.
"Something major?" The Tier 3 guard narrowed their eyes. They scrutinized Zhao Kai and the rest closely.
A few seconds later, they detected the guild emblem that they were wearing.
"The Vanguard Guild emblem." The Tier 3 guard appeared to be surprised and asked, "Are you from the Vanguard Guild? What is your relationship with Viscount Lin Feng?"
Because Xu Feng had donated the war horses and contributed heavily to the war effort, he had risen from Baron to a Viscount. In other words, his prestige was also spread to the Aetheria Empire, which all applaud him for his merits.
"Ah, yes, Lin Feng is our Guild Leader." Although Zhao Kai was astonished to learn his buddy had been promoted to a Viscount, he kept his cool and informed the guard.
"This discovery was actually made by our Guild Leader, who ordered us to deliver this information to the military."
The Tier 3 guard hesitated briefly. At this critical time, the military headquarters was off-limits to any regular players. However, Xu Feng was someone whom they couldn’t just brush aside, especially when the former had claimed to discover a major event.
"Please wait here for a while. I’ll need to inform my superiors about this first." The Tier 3 guard changed his tone to a mild one and explained the circumstances.
’Sure enough, status really makes one different.’ Zhao Kai thought to himself. The realism in the Divine World was no joke. Even NPCs would act and behave courteously once they learned the player held a noble identity.
Sometime later, the Tier 3 guard returned with a friendly smile.
"My superior has permitted you four to enter." He said and gave them gentle advice. "Do be careful not to wander around the base. It’s a sensitive time, so many are exhibiting vigilant or hostile behavior."
"Thank you for your help," Zhao Kai received the warning and subtly handed over a small pouch filled with silver coins as thanks. This was something that Xu Feng had emphasized to him.
In this current terrible economy for both players and NPCs, one must be even more generous to establish a good rapport. And only through a good rapport would one receive advanced or confidential information.
Hence, even the usually stingy Xu Feng would always be massively generous to significant or prominent NPCs.
And sure enough, the Tier 3 guard’s smile became wider when he received the small pouch and gave it a quick scan.
A whopping 50 silver coins!
That was enough for him to no longer need to worry about his family’s survival for at least 2 months.
"The Vanguard Guild really is a pillar of support for the Aetheria Empire." The Tier 3 guard muttered as he watched Zhao Kai and the rest enter the Military Headquarters.
Sometime later, Lightning Blade sneakily approached Zhao Kai and whispered.
"Guild Commander, can you spare some silver coins for me, too?" Lightning Blade rubbed his hands mischievously. "I spent quite a bit upgrading gears and the sockets as well."
"Shoo!" Zhao Kai rolled his eyes and waved his hand annoyingly. "This money is the guild funds and will be recorded. If I give it to you, then you need to offer up your GMP."
As soon as the term GMP was brought up, Lightning Blade quickly shrank back.
Using GMP to exchange for some coins?
HELL NO!
Every Vanguard Guild member knows how precious GMP was. Without GMP, you can’t even use the Training Hall, much less have access to other benefits.
Compared to that, silver coins were absolutely useless.
"Forget it, Guild Commander." Lightning Blade stepped back. "I still have some spare change."
"Are you sure?" Zhao Kai chuckled and retrieved another hefty pouch.
"This one contains at least 30 gold coins. For 3,000 GMP, you can have it."
"No thanks!"
"What about the two of you?" Seeing how Lightning Blade was close to avoiding him like plague, Zhao Kai turned his attention to Skyfire Mist and FreeLancer.
Sure enough, without any surprises, the two of them glanced elsewhere. They completely avoided eye contact with Zhao Kai.
Ruthless!
Too ruthless!
3,000 GMP was enough for them to be in the Training Hall for at least a week if they bought the bundle package.
As if they would be willing to use it to trade for 30 gold coins.
Could coins improve their combat score?
Could coins make them more powerful and kill higher enemies?
This Guild Commander was really too scammy!!
’What a pity.’ Zhao Kai could only shake his head. These gold coins were technically his shares, so he planned to sell them to them in exchange for GMP.
Alas, the Hex Team and other Vanguard Guild members treated GMP like the highest currency. No amount of luxury or allure could convince them to exchange their GMP.
Sometime later, the four men arrived at the center stage. And at that instant, the pressure suddenly increased by multiple folds.
"What is this?" Zhao Kai felt a powerful presence pressing on top of him. The same goes for the Hex Team, who clearly displayed signs of struggling.
"This shouldn’t be the case..." He murmured. Based on the information, the military shouldn’t be hostile toward them.
’Could it be a test?’ Zhao Kai remembered Xu Feng’s earlier teaching regarding the intelligence of NPCs. If this powerful pressure was emitted by a higher-tier NPC, then their intelligence couldn’t be underestimated.
’Yes, this definitely has to be a test. Curse that Feng for giving me this kind of difficult mission. I bet he’s enjoying his leisure time with Carmen.’ He clicked his tongue and communicated with the rest of the Hex Team to endure.
"Keep enduring for a brighter future." He said in a low but subtle tone.
The longer they endure, the higher their value might be in the Aetheria Empire.
’We know that, Guild Commander.’ Lightning Blade and the other two found it
