Chapter 1496: Defense Border Part 11
Xu Feng didn’t allow himself to be tossed around without doing any groundwork in return.
There was always a price to pay if someone wanted to take him down.
The ward that he subtly glanced at was none other than the Soul Rend Ward.
It was part of his Origin Skill Tree, and boosted by the baptized effect, this would be a deadly weapon against Karoos.
The Soul Rend Ward placed a ward in an area.
Any entity healed within its radius takes bonus damage from the caster for the next 10 seconds.
The damage dealt would then be converted to the caster’s health points.
Additionally, any excessive amount would automatically turn into a buff for the caster.
And thanks to Karoos’ violent temper and explosive attack, Xu Feng had achieved both conditions to turn the tide. Moreover, he didn’t just place one singular ward.
Throughout the fight and his stalling, he had been constantly placing the wards.
As for why he didn’t do it from the start, the ward had a duration field limit.
If he had placed them early, then they would have expired by now.
The timing right now was just perfect.
Xu Feng patiently waited for Karoos to get close to him to deliver another deadly attack.
BANG!
He took the hit like a champ while standing still. He didn’t allow himself to be thrown around like before.
After all, he had already completed the placement of the wards.
Why would he purposely get flung around to put more wards?
"Huh?" Meanwhile, Karoos was confused why the latter hadn’t been tossed away. The damage he dealt was even more serious than the previous two counts.
This made no sense to him!
"What’s going on here?" Karoos narrowed his eyes and tried to detect if Xu Feng had activated any protection spells or something of equivalent.
However, he had sensed nothing.
"Don’t just sense me, Demon Lord." Xu Feng smiled sinisterly.
"You really need to pay attention to your surroundings. I warned you that when you were first summoned here, didn’t I?"
"..."
Karoos was silent, but he really listened and expanded his perception. Soon, he discovered there were many ward-looking items scattered across the field.
Each one of them gave him a small sense of dread.
"Ever heard of a famous line? Kaboom!" Xu Feng snickered and activated the ward.
"Not good!" Karoos didn’t understand what the wards did, but he sure as hell wouldn’t stay in the spot.
Unfortunately for him, Xu Feng had long locked the area with sanctuary light boosted by the baptism.
"You bastard!" Karoos was enraged.
How dare a puny ant trap him!
"Alright, it won’t kill you. But as long as I hurt you enough, that’s a bragging tale to tell~" Xu Feng continued to taunt and toy with Karoos as the surrounding wards illuminated brightly.
KABOOOM!
A loud explosion occurred, and their field was quickly consumed by dust, debris, etc. The amount of healing Xu Feng did was converted, and his damage dealt increased exponentially.
Despite being Tier 2, he now emitted a power close to peak Tier 3.
The damage was devastating. By the time the smoke dissipated, Karoos’ wings were burned heavily, his majestic self now stained with dust and dirt.
His face was darkened as he couldn’t have imagined a mere Tier 2 could place him into such a sorry state.
"That bastard Cedric knew you were this despicable and didn’t bother to warn me! What a wastrel he is!" Karoos screeched, immediately putting the blame on Cedric.
...
Meanwhile, a far distance from their battle, Cedric suddenly sneezed loudly as he was duking it out with Kong Ming.
’An opportunity!’ Kong Ming didn’t know what happened to Cedric, but he quickly seized the chance to launch a fierce counterattack.
Without hesitation, he launched a series of spells, multicasting them in succession.
"Crap..." Cedric was alerted and immediately beckoned for his summoned creatures to tank the spells. In the meantime, he began to blink away to a safe distance.
A battle between mages was never about close combat, but how one kept their distance and mana on top.
Alas, what Cedric never accounted for was that another battle from afar would affect them. The earlier explosion was loud, but not large enough to have any aftermath effect on their side.
Moreover, Cedric held the belief that the cause of the explosion was the Demon Lord Karoos.
How could he ever have imagined the culprit to be Xu Feng?
He was just a Tier 2 Immortal and nothing more!
But it was precisely because of this stubborn and fixed mindset that he suffered heavily.
Another heavy explosion occurred, and the impact blast shifted right at the position he had blinked away to.
"You’ve got to be kidding me..." Cedric’s mouth twitched in disbelief.
WHOOSH!
The wind blew him straight back into the very attack that Kong Ming launched.
In the meantime, Kong Ming held no reaction.
"All according to calculation." He muttered. Previously, he had detected the battle effect from afar and realized there should be another shockwave.
Sure enough, his calculation was proven correct when Cedric blinked precisely to the position he wanted him to be at and received the blast impact.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOOM!
Just like that, Cedric was blasted by his multiple spells and crashed straight to the ground.
A large crater was created, and Cedric’s hair became disheveled, with many of his bones shattered from the crash.
"COUGH!"
Cedric struggled to get up, and when he did, he coughed up a mouthful of blood. His blood quickly stained the ground red as he repeated the actions a few more times.
While he was busy coughing up blood, Kong Ming wasn’t generous enough to give him any breathing room.
He continued to bombard the large crater with more high-tier spells.
"Fuck..." Cedric cursed in anger. With his current condition, he would sooner or later die at Kong Ming’s hand.
"You’ve got lucky this time." Cedric glared furiously at Kong Ming, seemingly imprinting his appearance into his mind.
Afterward, he activated summon swap, paying a high price to automatically switch a summon he had placed from afar to switch position with him.
