Chapter 1540: Legacy Era Part 10
Chapter 1540: Legacy Era Part 10
Twilight Glades Inner Layer
"Just a bit more and we’ll exit the inner layer!"
"Let’s go!"
It was common knowledge that the inner layer and center layer operated differently.
The monsters that resided in the center layer weren’t many, but that didn’t mean it was any less dangerous. In fact, the center layer was considered more dangerous because each monster they would encounter was of a mini-boss level or above.
However, that was actually beneficial to their large group because they no longer had to be concerned about being surrounded anymore.
Even if it was a mini-boss level monster that they encountered, they could still deal with it more easily than a large group of monsters that come from all sorts of directions.
And with that in mind, the group was excited as they rushed toward the center layer.
In the meantime, the elite teams had regrouped and gathered around OneManMedia.
"Okay, please pick a number between 1 and 100." OneManMedia glanced at the three elite team leaders and said.
"Why?" The three asked almost simultaneously.
"To determine who will be getting the spotlight first in the livestream."
Just when he was about to explain the plan to them, a Void Portal suddenly opened.
The group was initially startled, but quickly noticed the familiar pattern in the Void Portal.
Sure enough, their eyes lit up when they realized it was their own Guild Commander.
"Don’t be too happy yet." Carmen raised her hand and interrupted their happy faces.
"I’m only here as a proctor today. I will have my voidlings attached to you as surveillance. If these voidlings had to be activated at any point, you would have failed the test."
"A test??!" Dark Night was startled.
"Oh god... a sudden test. It reminds me of school days."
Lightning Blade nearly stained his pants upon hearing the word test.
"Shut it, cowards." Only Blue Star remained nonchalant about the issue.
Both Lightning Blade and Dark Night glanced at each other in dismay.
Of course, she would be fine.
She was definitely the all-A’s student type.
"No need to be stressed by the test. Even if you fail, there’s no penalty, except that we would just lower our expectations of you in the future." Carmen smiled sweetly.
"..."
Indeed, there was no penalty, alright. But failing the test was no different than saying they were incompetent.
"That Benson better not screw me over." Dark Night bit his lips in frustration.
"Haha, good luck with Benson~" Lightning Blade smirked coldly. If anyone would fail, it would definitely be his Dark Team.
"You want to die?" Dark Night gritted his teeth. Out of all the elite teams, only he was stuck with Benson.
Although Benson had indeed done a lot of redemption, it was hard to tell if history would repeat itself.
That was the cruel reality for those people who committed wrong. The past would often come back to bite you, no matter how much you change.
"You shouldn’t be that harsh on Benson, Night." At this moment, Lightning Blade flashed a solemn expression.
"I don’t like to speak of this past of mine. But before you joined the guild, I was implicated by a cousin of mine. That cousin used my name and the guild reputation to flaunt around in the beginner towns to bully others."
Dark Night was silent. It would be a lie to say that he hadn’t heard about Lightning Blade’s plight.
The only difference was that many sympathized with Lightning Blade because it wasn’t even him doing the bullying. Instead, it was having a useless relative who used his fame to do bad deeds.
And nobody would file a complaint at Lightning Blade when he worked the hardest to get to his current position.
A few seconds later, Dark Night exhaled softly. "Very well, I would wipe out the prejudice I have on Benson and give him a clean slate."
"Much appreciated!" Lightning Blade flashed a big smile, with his teeth shining brightly, almost as if a god had descended.
"..."
While the group was chatting, another person arrived.
Almost immediately, Blue Star wielded her staff, seemingly ready to strike at them.
"Wait, it’s me!" The newcomer sensed the danger and hurriedly revealed themselves.
"It’s you?" Blue Star raised an eyebrow and looked at them awkwardly.
"What are you doing here, PotionHoarder?" She questioned.
This person used to be their Vanguard enemy, but for some reason, he defected from his own guild and joined theirs.
Of course, the reason was soon revealed when PotionHoarder voluntarily became a slave for Jeanette, the inventor of their guild.
Needless to say, PotionHoarder wasn’t after Jeanette for her look, but rather for her skills and amazing ability to concoct numerous types of potions.
Since it was obvious how obsessed PotionHoarder was with all types of potions, Jeanette, who could invent new potions, was like the treasure chest he always wished for.
Therefore, he became the number one slave for Jeanette in all sorts of bidding... even if it meant selling his old guild information and other affiliated guilds.
Xu Feng initially had no plans to accept a backstabber, but decided to give him a shot at how despicable he could be.
After all, only a despicable tool could be used when things needed to get dirty.
Sounds evil?
They were willing, and truth be told, Xu Feng was being generous to give a former enemy a chance to join them. The Inventor Jeanette was an exception because her talent superseded the previous farce.
"My Master told me to deliver these potions to you," PotionHoarder explained and retrieved stacks of potions.
"They are prototypes and not the complete state, but Master wants to see the data of it to see where she needs to modify."
"Yes, we get it." Blue Star frowned and stared at him. "Can you let go of the potions now?"
He was still clutching them tightly and refusing to let his hands go.
"..."
PotionHoarder smiled bitterly and finally released his hands.
"Make sure to test them properly." He said with extreme reluctance. He couldn’t and wouldn’t dare to secretly stash one of the prototypes in his inventory, lest it might anger Jeanette.
However, she never mentioned that the others who received it couldn’t give him one in return.
