Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 1577: Esports Tournament Part 4

Chapter 1577: Esports Tournament Part 4

At a bustling restaurant, the two were seated at a quiet place as suggested.

"When you’re ready to order, please press the button on the tablet." The waiter said politely and excused themselves.

They were being treated politely because Zhang Jingyi was a VIP member.

Not to mention, her influence and reputation in the Azure District weren’t to be trifled with.

"A VIP member sure is nice. A reserved table despite the restaurant being overbooked." Xu Feng commented lightly. He could see a lot of people still waiting outside, but they were able to just skip the lines.

No reservation was even made either. They just waltzed right in, and the waiters automatically brought them to a nice table.

"Are you trying to call me spoiled?" Zhang Jingyi cleared her throat.

"Not at all." He shook his head. "It’s just that life is really quite funny. We all breathe the same air, but everyone experiences different treatment. I’d probably be the same as those outside waiting for a table if I didn’t hug your thigh."

"Right, you weren’t dressed this well when we first met." She recalled their first meeting. Truthfully, she also chose him at that time because he was at least not pretentious like the others.

She had spotted too many fakes wearing suits in the Azure District trying to strike it rich.

"The Azure District is considered a wealthy area, so there’s bound to be some employees who look down on those who dress poorly. But I’ve already scolded them and told them to never behave haughtily." She continued, hoping to address the issue back at the store.

"Haha, that was a long time ago."

He had long forgotten about the incident regarding the sales employee who called him a poor bumpkin.

They said to never judge a book by its cover, but he knew very well that it was just a stupid quote. Everyone judges by your appearance no matter where or when.

The only way you won’t be judged is if you’re famous and rich enough that the majority of the world knows who you are.

"Should we open the packs now?" He then asked. Since these cards were rather pricey, he didn’t want to have grease over them.

After all, once they ordered and the food arrived, the cards would be stained.

"Who will tank first?" Zhang Jingyi questioned. The meaning of tank here meant whoever opened first would have to take the bad luck hit.

"I’ll tank it." Xu Feng wasn’t that invested in the trading card games. Not to mention, he could easily request a few copies if he desired it.

However, the joy would have been lost if he made that kind of move.

He was also a kid before. And as a kid, the joy of opening up packs and pulling something amazing was a golden moment.

"Wait, let me see closer." Zhang Jingyi immediately moved her chair closer to him. Her excitement was palpable.

Even Xu Feng was a bit taken aback by her enthusiasm.

"Do you want to open it for me?" He asked and extended his pack to her. "It’s my first time, so I’m not sure what the trick to opening was."

"No, I can’t..." She hesitated and shook her head. "I can just tell you the trick."

"Are you sure?" He could tell that she had a gambling addiction. They were fidgeting nonstop, which showed that she had a pulling addiction.

"Yes, I’m sure." She showed a stern expression after a few seconds.

Since she said so, Xu Feng no longer insisted and began doing the trick as instructed. He placed two cards from the back and moved them to the front.

By doing so, the highest rare card would now be the last.

"Let’s see what I get." He mused and opened the first card. His expression quickly went from anticipation to disappointment.

"Seriously... this is the pose they used for OneManMedia?" He twitched his mouth when the first card he got was a common rarity with OneManMedia holding his camera up in a ridiculous manner.

"Yeah, this is the least valuable card." Zhang Jingyi’s smile also disappeared when she saw the card. Out of every Vanguard Member that people knew, he was the least popular. It wasn’t that people weren’t interested in him, but rather he always streamed or appeared in interviews.

They were too used to his face.

The common sales tactic in which scarcity meant high value was an ironclad law.

Why would anyone want a card that was literally pasted everywhere?

"Next one." Xu Feng swiped for the next card and was once again disappointed. "Another OneManMedia but in a different pose??!"

"Just how many did your guild submit?" Zhang Jingyi frowned.

If OneManMedia was present at this time, he would probably feel like his heart had been shot by an arrow multiple times.

The amount of disgust and disdain he received was probably spread far and wide. It wasn’t limited to this table, but everyone else who had purchased the Vanguard edition Divine World trading card game would probably curse at him.

After all, everyone wanted to pull the god card or the most coveted one.

As he continued to pull, the second-to-last card was actually Lightning Blade.

"Ohh, this is a good sign." Zhang Jingyi exclaimed. "If you pull a semi-decent card, the last one is usually the best."

"Is that so?" Xu Feng was quite nonchalant as he slowly pulled the last card.

Truth be told, he wanted to get it over with, but someone next to him made sure he had to do it very slowly. Her hand clutched tightly on his shoulder, seemingly tightening each time his motion was a bit too fast.

"Slowly..." She hissed.

Gradually, a little bit of shiny color in the bottom could be seen.

"Holy shit! A full art version!"

As she got excited, Xu Feng accidentally pulled the card right away.

Demoness!

A full-art card of Carmen emerging from the Void Portal with her voidlings.

"You got one of the Demoness god cards!!!" She exclaimed loudly.
