Chapter 1576: Esports Tournament Part 3
Chapter 1576: Esports Tournament Part 3
Azure District
"After so long, I’m back here again." Xu Feng glanced at the bustling Azure District and smiled awkwardly.
With the Divine World’s popularity boosted, the majority of the attractions in the Azure District had shifted to include many Divine World merchandise.
To survive and maintain high traffic, this much was needed. If their catering wasn’t to the trend or what people enjoy, then it was bound to become a ghost district.
"Mom, I want to get that figurine. She’s the cool Demoness!"
"Demoness? That just looks like a regular woman in some armor though."
"You don’t get it, Mom! Her nickname is the Demoness, and all my classmates have her figurine to show off during lunch break. Please buy it for me."
"Okay, okay..."
From nearby, Xu Feng overheard a child telling their mother to purchase him a figurine.
Needless to say, the figurine resembled Carmen’s character appearance.
And of course, the reason why there were figurines of Carmen’s character in the stores was that the Vanguard Group permitted the distribution with a share percentage.
For every figurine sold, they would receive a whopping 40% of the profit.
How could Xu Feng refuse this kind of free money?
To make things even greater, there was even a mystery box in which multiple styles of Carmen’s character poses were included.
As if that wasn’t enough, there was even a trading card game that revolved around the Divine World.
The trading card game was published by the very same mystery developer of the Divine World. Submissions of characters to be introduced as playing cards could be sent in their email.
Needless to say, to be inducted as playing cards required multiple requirements. Otherwise, the game would be overloaded with too many unknown characters.
’Ahh, if I sold the collections I own by scalping, just how much would I earn?’ Xu Feng wondered.
Of course, it was just a fleeting thought process.
He absolutely despised scalpers and refused to give them any chance, from buying them to reselling them at high prices.
There should be a limit to profit, and Xu Feng wouldn’t hesitate to cut off anyone who enabled scalpers or created a situation where regular buyers couldn’t get a single box.
To have some fun, Xu Feng also decided to enter a store that sells the Divine World trading card game.
It was crowded, and many customers could be seen waiting for the packs to be displayed.
"Everyone, you can only purchase a maximum of 2 packs. The packs would also be opened immediately upon purchase to prevent scalping." One of the store employees announced loudly.
They even made sure to emphasize that certain packs couldn’t be concealed and would be opened up.
They could keep the package, but no scalpers would prefer this kind of action because once a pack was opened, it lost a lot of its value.
Just when Xu Feng was about to line up for the pack that had the Vanguard edition, someone greeted him.
"Hmm, I didn’t expect to see you here."
"Huh?"
Xu Feng was alarmed. He turned around and spotted Zhang Jingyi.
"You collect trading card games?" He asked.
Zhang Jingyi’s face quickly flashed a slight frown.
"What do you mean by that? I can’t have a hobby?" She placed her hands on her hips and appeared to be angry.
"That was not my intention." Xu Feng raised his hands up and quickly corrected himself. "What I meant was that I didn’t expect you to be here instead of the meeting place."
"I was going to wait there, but then there was a new batch of cards coming out." Zhang Jingyi wasn’t petty enough to brood over the matter and explained the situation.
"You should know about the upcoming esports tournament, right? The organizers decided to include trading card games and even set up vendor shops for Divine World cards to enhance the popularity and engagement further."
"Whoa, that’s indeed something else." Xu Feng never anticipated the organizers to come up with this strategy.
In the past timeline, there weren’t many prominent characters available to be printed, so the vendor’s aspect wasn’t in discussion.
However, with so many major events occurring and the massive popularity one could gain through livestream, there were many available to be printed as trading cards.
While he was dazed, Zhang Jingyi pulled his arm closer to line up.
She then whispered, "By the way, your player card is also in the print. It seems to have a god card."
"A god card?" Xu Feng’s body tensed up. To think his character could receive a god card rating meant that the people valued him high enough to be worthy of collectibles.
"Mhmm, but then it’s still not as good as your Guild Leader or the mysterious boss, Eclipse Nova. From what I’ve heard, all collectors and scalpers wanted to get their hands on them." Zhang Jingyi teased, unaware that all three of them were essentially Xu Feng.
Sometime later, the store employees began to sell the cards one at a time.
Everyone lined up cordially, with none daring to make a scene. There was an Energy Fighter employed as a security guard, and this particular Energy Fighter wasn’t an easy opponent.
Moreover, the security in Azure District was no joke. Even if they fled the store, they would probably get caught in a matter of seconds without being able to leave the district.
In the blink of an eye, the two of them successfully purchased two packs of Vanguard Edition.
"Should we open them at the restaurant?" Zhang Jingyi suggested. The packs were cut open as said before, but she didn’t want to pull them out immediately.
"We could." He nodded, feeling a bit hungry as well.
Soon, the two exited the store, and Xu Feng recognized a few personnel already.
They were the people whom Zhang Jingyi escaped from when they first met.
"We won’t be needing to act this time, right?" He decided to tease her, returning the favor from earlier.
"The times have changed. I’m no longer restricted to that dumb marriage alliance crap." She rolled her eyes and gave him a light smack in the arm.
