Chapter 1582: Esports Tournament Part 9
"You made me treat dinner, and now you also want me to pay?" Zhang Jingyi twitched her mouth in disbelief.
Xu Feng put on a difficult expression and emptied his pockets.
"Look at how poor I am." He cried bitterly.
THUD!
Suddenly, one of his hidden pockets dropped a fat envelope. The envelope was filled with cash. It was money intended as a bonus for his guild members and employees.
"Uhh, can we rewind a little bit?" He laughed awkwardly. He quickly picked up the envelope and stuffed it back into his pocket.
"Rewind a little bit?" She was rendered speechless by his shameless behavior. He got caught red-handed for trying to pretend to be poor when he got such a big stack of cash lying around.
However, that wasn’t the worst part.
He wanted to play innocent and have her play along so that she didn’t see it.
"Yes, let’s rewind that, shall we?" Xu Feng smiled cheekily.
"Sure, then we’ll rewind to the part where I want to become like an Immortal." Zhang Jingyi clasped her hands sweetly.
In the next moment, she narrowed her eyes and asked, "It’ll be for free, right?"
’Hidden pockets are a scam. What’s the point of being hidden if it doesn’t hold the content well?’ He pursed his lips.
The wire fu wasn’t some cheap device. It required a lot of manpower and effort to complete.
After all, they were hidden wires designed to lift a person up to make them seem like they were flying.
How heavy was a person?
Even if they were extremely skinny, it still takes a ton to carry.
Of course, that was just an exaggeration given the technology and equipment they have today.
He merely found it a hassle to attach wire fu to her and teach her the basics.
"Do you have any athletic or aerobatic experience?" He asked skeptically.
"Who are you looking down on?" She instantly snapped.
To prove a point, she started doing backflips and then a series of aerobatic movements.
Some of the movements were very delicate and created an illusion of wielding a sword.
’Right, she’s a swordsman.’
Xu Feng nearly forgot about this important detail. Almost all swordsman players were fanatics and trained like crazy.
He never chose this class because of the physical demands one needed to meet if they wanted to become top swordsman players.
’Healer is much better. I just stand still and cast spells from afar.’ He once again felt like he made the correct decision.
"Oy, did you get mesmerized by my movement?" Zhang Jingyi shouted when she heard no response from him. Usually, there would have been cheers or people clamoring for an encore when they watched her actions.
Yet he had little to zero reaction.
In fact, he even seemed a little self-satisfied.
And no, it wasn’t the dirty kind. It was more aligned with the kind that you just wanted to give them a slap for narcissism.
"Give me a few seconds." Xu Feng had a feeling that she wanted to slap him, so he hurriedly contacted the production team.
As soon as the message was sent, the production team that was working in another area nearly got a fright.
"Everyone in the stunt team gathers around!" One of the producers shouted loudly.
In the blink of an eye, the stunt team members gathered with a nervous expression. They were afraid that something had gone wrong and the producers got mad.
After all, that shout was a tone of urgency, and not the usual kind they heard.
"We have all gathered here, Producer Danny." The leader of the stunt team, Jacky, said nervously.
Producer Danny nodded his head. "The Boss has a guest today. They want to test some wire fu. I’m sure I don’t need to elaborate further, right?"
Indeed, there was no need for any elaboration.
’Boss? Doesn’t that just mean Xu Feng?’ Jacky sweated profusely.
They usually referred to Ning Yi as Yi Brother and never Boss because the former always told them that the real Boss was Xu Feng. He was just a temporary figurehead and any major decision must go through Xu Feng’s approval.
For someone who was known as the hardest person to deal with in the industry to look up to someone else so highly meant that the person was no simple character.
Hence, any news related to the "Boss" had to be taken as the highest priority.
’Just who is this guest?’ Jacky didn’t dare to think further, lest he might lose this great job.
"I’ll get to it." Jacky cupped his fist and excused himself.
"Good." Danny gestured to him to leave while informing the rest of the crew to take a break. Normally, their schedule was jam-packed and had barely any windows to really take a break. Even though they weren’t forced to complete everything, the desire to finish stemmed from their pride and motivation.
Despite the boom of artificial intelligence and many productions resorting to using AI over actual people, Vanguard adamantly refused the intervention of AI replacing actors.
AI could be used as resources, but Xu Feng had made it clear that it could never replace real humans. It was this kind of attitude that many respected him even if they never got to meet him.
While the crews got to relax, Jacky had finally made his way to Xu Feng.
"Greetings, Boss!" He immediately walked forward and greeted Xu Feng.
His picture was plastered all over the building, so only a real buffoon wouldn’t be able to recognize him.
"You’re the stunt team leader Jacky, right?" Xu Feng smiled lightly. He remembered him because Jacky also worked on the first short drama that he starred in.
"That is correct." Jacky was surprised that the boss remembered his name.
But what really shocked him deeply was that the guest was actually a beautiful woman.
’Oh crap, this better not be an affair that I stumbled across.’ Jacky became petrified.
Who didn’t know their Boss was dating the Director Carmen?
