Chapter 1588: Esports Tournament Part 15

Lightning Blade wasn’t omnipotent or keen-eyed. It was simply that the person holding the advanced slot was part of the list.

What was that list about?

The person who was identified as being affiliated with the Bombering Guild wasn’t a mere coincidence. They were chosen as one of the few whom Xu Feng had instructed to sell the advanced slot to.

That way, they could show a stern warning to others who thought they were slick enough to bypass the city’s security.

Although they couldn’t exactly pinpoint which buyer would arrive first, Lightning Blade did memorize these few people.

They couldn’t escape either because the advanced slots sold to them were identifiable by an item. It remained invisible to others, but Lightning Blade could practically see them glowing in the large crowd.

With such an easy way to spot them, all Lightning Blade needed to do was search up the buyer’s name and call them out on the spot.

After all, the buyer needed to show their identification when purchasing from one of their planted scalpers.

"Okay, step into the formation, and you can explore the city on your own later on." Lightning Blade exclaimed.

Soon, the players hesitated briefly before rushing into the formation in the stream. They realized if Vanguard Guild truly pulled such a stunt to steal their data, then the Vanguard would be in ruin without a doubt.

This remained true even for the Super Guilds. They weren’t going to openly steal their data in such a manner.

There was a limit to their actions.

’As expected of the Guild Leader.’ When the crowd gradually quieted down, with the majority willing to line up, Lightning Blade was amazed. He had also thought things would go south when he brought it up, but Xu Feng simply said humans were simple creatures.

As long as you sounded confident and gave them enough reason that their actions wouldn’t cause them harm, they were bound to obey.

Humans only retaliate with violence when their interests or someone they cared about was compromised.

With everything going smoothly, Lightning Blade sent a message in the guild chat about the progress.

Haven Wind City, City Hall

"Looks like Blade got everything in order," Carmen commented when she read the message Lightning Blade sent.

"Your scalping plans work too well. The spies we planted in the guilds started to investigate why they have a sudden influx of players leaving them."

Xu Feng chuckled heartily from his seat. "Next up, we should give non-guild players some benefits."

"You’re poaching them directly?" Carmen was alarmed. She wasn’t naive enough to believe he was really giving them benefits.

There had to be a twist, and the most likely scenario was Xu Feng poaching them.

Of course, the poaching wasn’t necessarily about joining the guild. Instead, it could be other things that benefited the guild.

He was always someone who knew how to use people and put them in their forte. It wasn’t an exaggeration to say that any company that hired Xu Feng would place him directly in charge of the human resources department.

"I’m not poaching them." Xu Feng shook his head. "I’m investing in them. The esports tournament is very big, and everyone could apply. I can just invest in a few, and whatever ranking they get, we’ll benefit too."

"Oh, like a secret sponsor type?"

"That’s right!"

"Kind of like how you deceive me and then proceed to swindle my body."

"..."

Never did he anticipate Carmen pulling such a dirty joke out of the blue.

He cleared his throat and pretended not to hear her comment. "Anyway, the registration will begin in 3 days. Have you thought of which category you will compete in?"

The esports tournament was categorized into three sections.

The first section was an event that was a battle royale set in the designated battlefield stage within the Divine World.

In the battle royale, people could apply to play solo, duo, trio, or a squad.

The goal in the battle royale was to place in the top 20 in each category to advance to the second round.

The second section was a dueling event in which people could apply as solo or duo to fight another. It was a straightforward competition where the participant would fight it out on a small open stage.

The last section was possibly the most exciting event. There would be no individual applications since it was considered to be more of a guild event.

A maximum of 20 people could participate in the event, which consisted of a fortress siege war.

And yes, it was identical to the battle simulation that Xu Feng had trained Carmen in.

"Hmm, I want to participate in all of them." Carmen scratched her head and smiled mysteriously.

"Why are you smiling like that?" Xu Feng hurriedly leaned back and covered his chest.

That was the kind of smile she used when they got intimate. He would be drained so badly at night.

Had it not been for his great physique, he wouldn’t have even been able to get out of bed.

"Let’s be a duo for the first two sections." She clasped her hands and suggested.

"I don’t want to—"

Before Xu Feng could finish his words, he quickly stopped himself.

"Hmm, what did you just say?" Carmen placed a hand beside her ear and asked sweetly.

’I ain’t no simp!’

That was what Xu Feng would say if it wasn’t for the fact that he really enjoyed each night.

Moreover, they hadn’t really done many adventures together. They tried to do it again, but it got interrupted.

"Fine, let’s sign up as a duo." Xu Feng gave in and said.

"Yay!" Carmen cheered and pounced on him. "Oh, make sure you sign up as Cool Wind and not your Guild Leader alias."

"Got it." Xu Feng naturally knew he couldn’t participate in the first two sections with his Guild Leader alias. Only the last section required him to do it, but he would delegate that responsibility to Zhao Kai.
