Chapter 1589: Esports Tournament Part 16
"We should head to the Training Hall and work on our synergy," Carmen suggested.
"We can set our opponents to be people from the Super Guild. For example, that swordsman player from Paragon."
Xu Feng’s brows twitched slightly.
Was she really trying to battle Zhang Jingyi for the sake of training or for some grudges?
His testing of wire fu with Zhang Jingyi was a few days ago.
Although Carmen never mentioned anything about it, he was positive that she learned of the news.
’Is this a woman’s jealousy?’ He wondered silently.
Despite the curiosity, Xu Feng knew better than to raise any question or concern about it.
Curiosity kills the cat, and he had no intention of being the dead cat.
"We can do that." He agreed to the suggestion without any complaint. "But who will team up with her?"
"Hmm, she’s a swordsman, so maybe a healer?" Carmen thought aloud.
"A healer wouldn’t work well with a swordsman in a 2 versus 2 duel." Xu Feng said calmly.
If it was the battle royale setting, then there wasn’t a need to practice much.
After all, battle royale never required players to get the most kills. Instead, it was about who survived till the end.
Of course, it would be a major accomplishment and bragging rights if they not only survived till the end, but also got the highest kill count. But that was usually reserved for rankers or those who sought thrills.
The esports tournament was basically the time for rankers who had kept themselves hidden to finally reveal their strength.
Rankers had a certain amount of pride within them, and many guilds usually avoided confronting them.
Nothing good ever comes out for guilds whenever they mess with a high ranker for no reason. High rankers were individual players who kept to themselves and wouldn’t steal the necessary resources that a large guild required.
It was essentially an unspoken rule for high rankers and guilds to never trespass into each other’s domain.
Once trespassed, the outcome usually resulted in disastrous events.
"If a healer can’t work, then how about a Knight Lancer player?" Carmen said. She wanted to duel them at the greatest difficulty.
"A Knight Lancer, huh." Xu Feng murmured and nodded in agreement.
Knight Lancer would take the frontline and create a chance for the swordsman player to swoop in.
This was a common lineup for 2v2 duels.
However, just because it was common didn’t mean it was easy to deal with.
Oftentimes, the most simplistic strategy or lineup tends to be the most difficult to tackle.
"Is that not good either?" Carmen asked when she saw he had no response.
"No, it’s good. We can take this chance to work on how to deal with players who know how to taunt."
"Okay!"
Soon, the two of them activated an item to immediately teleport inside the private simulation at the Training Hall.
Since the city was currently open to the public, it was obvious that the majority of them rushed to the Training Hall to register and become a member.
Those kinds of logistical and administrative tasks were naturally delegated to the other Vanguard Guild members to do.
They were basically the higher-ups, so such tedious tasks never required them to work on them.
As the two immersed themselves in the training at the private simulation, outside the simulation was chaotic.
"Why can’t I use the simulation?"
"Isn’t this discriminating against us poor players?"
"This is a false advertisement!"
The players were agitated that they weren’t able to access the new simulation feature. Instead, they were told they could only do the previous simulation practice.
"I don’t recall our guild doing any advertisement." Amidst the chaos, a female voice suddenly echoed.
The crowd was initially disgruntled and wanted to curse them out. But as soon as they realized the speaker was none other than Kailey, they all kept quiet.
Kailey was a face that the majority of them recognized. She might not have much of a high rank in the Vanguard Guild, but her influence was no joke.
With a mighty presence, Kailey stepped forward and gestured for the other elite Vanguard members to move aside.
The elite members were relieved that they were saved by Kailey. They preferred to fight others over trying to pacify an agitated crowd—especially when the crowd was technically customers of the Vanguard Guild.
Everyone who made it to this stage meant they had passed verification for being neutral or affiliated with the Vanguard Guild in some way.
Violence was definitely not the answer.
As they stepped aside, Kailey glanced at the agitated crowd.
"I know it’s probably hard to conceal information, but I reckoned everyone here had heard about the new training hall simulation, right?" Kailey mused.
The crowd nearly went numb and crazy.
How could they not hear about it when their own Vanguard Guild member, OneManMedia, leaked to the viewers that the Demoness learned her leading ability in the simulation?
But to play along, they had to nod their head and smile brightly.
"When can we access the new training hall simulation, Miss Kailey?"
"We came all the way here for the new simulation. Time is of the essence when there’s less than 3 days for the registration to open for the esports tournament."
"Mhmm, we’re all willing to pay a high price to access them."
Kailey clapped her hands to get everyone’s attention.
Once the crowd quieted down, she began to explain. "Did you all see the city’s contribution points? As long as one reaches an accumulation of 5,000 city contribution points, they are eligible to purchase the membership for the new simulation."
"5,000 city contribution points?"
Many of them were stupefied by the astonishingly high contribution points.
Were they supposed to wait until the esports tournament was completely over to be eligible?
What would be the point by then?
"As expected of you all." Kailey remained calm and collected. She knew these people definitely skipped the explanation and guide listed in the prompt.
"I don’t like to waste my breath, so everyone can head to the bulletin board to see how to earn points. It shouldn’t take more than 2 hours if one is diligent."
