Chapter 1599: Esports Tournament Part 26

A few days went by, and the stadium was filled to the brim.

"It’s finally happening."

"It’s so hard to grab tickets for the tournament. I nearly cursed the crap out of my man for not getting one."

"You don’t say. Even without the ticket scalpers since the movement to eradicate them, it’s still so hard to get one."

Outside the stadium, it was jam-packed with people who were eager to watch the esports tournament.

Although the event would be streamed online, the majority still wished to participate in person for the experience and limited merchandise.

Many people even cosplayed as their favorite character.

Needless to say, the characters they cosplayed weren’t the guild members, but the high rankers.

What were high rankers?

They were players who excelled in their classes and achieved records in personal achievements. They rarely participated in dungeons for the fastest raid time record.

Moreover, the high rankers usually streamed and garnered a large number of fans. Self-sufficient and free from the guild’s restraints.

"I heard TitanBreaker is going to participate solo in the battle royale section. I cannot wait to see him dominate everyone with his long sword."

"Heh, Z3roTrace would slice him into pieces instead."

"Oh, please, you all. It’s obviously going to be Warlord Echo!"

As the crowd discussed among themselves which high rankers would win the solo version battle royale, Xu Feng and the group arrived at the venue.

"Holy smokes, this is like the death sentence for all introverts!" Zhao Kai exclaimed in shock. His body trembled slightly as he still had stage fright.

"Can you stop being so afraid?" His girlfriend, Lynette, facepalmed at his behavior.

"You participated in the city competition before, and you still hadn’t learned to get over that introverted behavior of yours. Look at your best friend over there." She then pointed at Xu Feng.

"Hah, you mean his frozen state?" Zhao Kai turned in Xu Feng’s direction and rolled his eyes.

"Eh?" Lynette tilted her head in confusion. She narrowed her eyes and inspected more closely.

Sure enough, Xu Feng was standing perfectly still, whereas Carmen was looking at him in concern.

"Um, you’re not having stage fright, are you?" Carmen raised an eyebrow. He was someone who had trolled so many people in the Divine World and even starred in a few short dramas already.

There was no way he would be shocked by the large crowd, right?

"I have trouble breathing when dealing with such a big crowd." Xu Feng smiled bitterly. Truth be told, all those antics he had been doing were done behind the gaming capsule. Even the short dramas he starred in were filmed in an enclosed space.

The film festival was large, but the scale wasn’t as large as today’s.

"Kai, should we return here at a later time?" Xu Feng turned to Zhao Kai and asked.

"That’s a good idea." Zhao Kai clasped his hands and nodded. "I’ve seen some BBQ restaurants nearby where you can eat. Shall we make our money worth it and eat all the meat?"

"We really should try some." Xu Feng nodded with a serious expression. The two of them hadn’t gotten to eat together and hang out often because of how busy they had been.

Adulthood truly sucks when compared to youth, when time was everywhere.

Unfortunately, the two didn’t even get to walk far when their clothes were held back by their significant others.

"Where do you think you’re going?" Both Carmen and Lynette asked in a friendly tone. Their faces were filled with smiles, but it was the kind that poisoned you deeply.

"T-To eat?" Zhao Kai shrank his neck and said.

Almost immediately, Zhao Kai received a twist to the ear from Lynette.

"Eat, eat, eat, all you know is eat!" Lynette gritted her teeth and twisted his ear thoroughly.

"I’m a bit hungry." Xu Feng was more composed and explained his reason.

’Hmph, Feng, don’t you see my ear being twisted like a pig’s ear?’ Zhao Kai watched Xu Feng in anticipation. He couldn’t wait to see his fellow brother suffer the same fate.

But to his astonishment, Carmen suddenly placed her hand on his stomach.

"I told you to eat a bit more before coming out." She pouted and blamed him for not eating much. "You’re an Energy Fighter too, so your intake needs to be a lot."

"Mhmm, my fault."

"Sigh, you want to eat at the BBQ restaurant, right? Let’s just go. The event is just opening and not yet starting."

As Carmen held Xu Feng’s head to head toward the BBQ restaurant, Zhao Kai’s eyes widened in disbelief.

"Fuck, how is Feng so lucky?" He twitched his mouth. He was forced to receive an ear-twisting punishment, but Xu Feng got concern and sweet treatment.

How could there be such a disparity?

Where was the justice?

Why did he have to suffer like this?

"Hmm, you seem pretty envious of your buddy there. Want to swap a girlfriend then?" Lynette asked sweetly.

"What nonsense!" Zhao Kai instantly stood up straight.

"He’s going to be spoiled at this rate. I’m lucky to have you to manage me so I don’t step out of line." He continued, sounding very righteous.

"Is that so?" Lynette narrowed her eyes. She refused to believe him and proceeded to drag him while twisting his ear.

"I was wrong. I was wrong!" Zhao Kai cried aloud.

The worst part about this issue was that she was still more technical and experienced in combat than he was. He couldn’t even do anything against her.

Sometime later, the four of them arrived at a BBQ restaurant and began ordering a large amount of food.

"Wow, there are a lot of people here." Zhao Kai exclaimed in shock at the crowd.

"Mhmm, it seems like they all have the same idea. The stadium food prices are too high, so they decided to fill their belly here first." Xu Feng chuckled.

"Agreed. We ain’t going to get scammed by them." Zhao Kai snickered.

"I reckoned this must be their real reason." Carmen shook her head and told Lynette.
