Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 428: Brainless Barbarian and Pretentious Gunner

Chapter 428: Brainless Barbarian and Pretentious Gunner

Having set up the stage for this long, the only thing Xu Feng worried about was the time it would take Carmen to complete her advancement.

"The best I can do is stall for another 1-2 days." He furrowed his brows.

The hype of the Elemental Warrior Set would definitely keep those slot winners busy for a while.

Added to the excuse that he could use that the utilities and items required for the raid were taking a while to prepare.

There was nothing else left he could do to stall them.

Just at this moment, the door was being knocked outside.

"Who is it?" Xu Feng called out, unsure of who would bother him when he specifically said not to.

"It's me, Boss," Tracy responded from outside.

"Tracy?" Startled, Xu Feng walked toward the door and opened it. "Did something major happen at the hotel?"

Tracy was his competent NPC manager, and he doubted she would be the one to interrupt him unless something happened.

"Yes, there are two people who claimed that you had hired them in advance, but they have no proof of any sort." Tracy nodded, and a trace of cautiousness appeared in her expression.

From that, Xu Feng could determine the two people were rather strong.

"Do you have their description?" Xu Feng rubbed his chin softly and inquired. Ever since news of a mask-like figure being spotted exiting the Vanguard Hotel, these clever folks knew it was him in the persona of Lin Feng.

Hence, there had been many imposters as of late that lied to wish to meet with him. Due to that, Xu Feng was forced to craft the Clearance Pass to prevent the situation from festering, and now he even made a business deal with Gentle Wind to sell some for her.

"Yes, the first man had a rugged face, framed by wild hair and a thick beard, equivalent to a typical brainless barbarian. The second man was more refined and lean. His eyes were quite sharp, dressed in tactical gear and light armor, the definition of a pretentious gunner." Tracy reported professionally.

"So a brainless barbarian and pretentious gunner?" Amused, Xu Feng let out a chuckle at her description.

"Indeed, and if it weren't for their confidence that they claimed they were invited by you, I would have called for the guards to detain them."

With the popularity of the Vanguard Hotel, it was only natural there would be many powerful guards nearby to detain anyone who dared to cause trouble.

Not to mention, her authority was only second to Xu Feng and she had gotten used to deploying drastic measurements.

"So do you recognize the description I made or is it another sham?" Tracy continued, wanting confirmation to determine her next steps. Read new chapters at empire

"I think I have the gist of who they are by now." Xu Feng smiled and ordered, "Bring them to the employee lounge. But do escort them with our guards. I don't want to look too shabby.'

Tracy understood the implication, bowed her head slightly, and quickly excused herself to get the matter done.

Sometime later, at the employee lounge, multiple figures entered the room.

"Boss, I have brought them over here—"

Before Tracy could complete her speech, she was rudely interrupted.

"Boss, we've met again!" The "brainless barbarian" shouted loudly and rushed toward Xu Feng.

"Indeed a brainless barbarian." Xu Feng mused upon meeting one of his acquaintances, Brutus again. To make things more hilarious, he noticed Tracy was on the verge of commanding the guards to capture the rude man on the spot.

When has she ever been slighted so hard like today?

It would have been fine if it was done by her boss or someone with equivalent authority and higher, but the brainless barbarian?

"Boss, how did you meet such people?" Tracy held a somewhat cold expression as she calmly stood next to Xu Feng, seemingly demonstrating her position to the newcomers.

"Apologies for Brutus' rude remark, Miss." Contrary to Brustus' action, Razor was rather polite and bowed at her.

"A pretentious gunner for sure." Xu Feng softly muttered, snuck a glance at Tracy, who paid no heed to Razor's apology.

"Boss, I still have many other tasks to do. If there's nothing else, I shall return to the task." Tracy turned to Xu Feng and requested her leave.

"Very well, have the guards assist you," Xu Feng permitted and dismissed the guards at the same time. Once they all exited, he turned to them and smiled lightly.

"It appears that in the one month we have not met, your strength has increased." He commented, having noticed their aura was more dense.

"Haha, just some fortuitous encounter!" Brutus laughed merrily.

"Don't listen to his nonsense," Razor smirked and was quick to expose him. "We just fought a lot during the Kobold's invasion and managed to condense our aura with the prolonged fighting."

"Isn't that a fortuitous encounter then?" Brutus rolled his eyes. "Did you think it's frequent for Paradise Plains to be invaded by monsters?"

"I dare you to repeat those words if we return to Paradise Plains."

Instantly, Brutus' body shuddered momentarily.

Repeat those words?

That was equivalent to asking for a fierce beating from those who participated and lost their companions.

The casualties weren't much thanks to the utility support, but in an invasion, there were bound to be some unlucky ones who fell in battle. These people were respected and honored, with pensions given to their families.

However, almost everyone knew what mattered the most was returning to their home alive.

As the atmosphere subtly turned solemn and depressing, Xu Feng was quick to clear his throat and change the topic.

"Anyway, it seems like the two of you aren't faring well to come all the way here despite no news of a Vanguard Training Ground being opened." He mused and struck the cord immediately.

Both Razor and Brutus nearly plopped to the ground upon getting exposed so quickly.

"Ugh, Boss, your foresight is really impeccable." Brutus smiled bitterly and revealed, "Thanks to the Kobold's invasion, every nearby area with monsters was fiercely hunted by the command of the higher-ups. There are legit no more commission tasks available in the Mercenary Association at the moment."
