Reversed Fate in the 70s: Marrying the Factory Director rather than Rough Man

Chapter 116

Chapter 116 : Buying a House

The washed clothes had a faint scent of soap, just like the one Sun Yulian wore. Yu Qianjin’s gaze returned to Sun Yulian, examining her from head to toe.

Although Sun Yulian wasn’t as beautiful as the woman he had just seen, she was gentle, considerate, virtuous, and always attentive to him.

He moved closer and gently rubbed Sun Yulian’s hand. It was late, yet she had found an excuse to meet him. He knew exactly what she was thinking. “Yulian, don’t go back tonight.”

Sun Yulian suppressed her discomfort and nausea, pretending to be shy. She pulled her hand away and quietly distanced herself.

She had a child, and before getting married, she absolutely couldn’t let Yu Qianjin get too close. “The dormitory needs to be checked at night, and I have to go back.”

“The people in my dormitory have some issues with me. They…”

Sun Yulian pretended to be sad and shed a few tears. Yu Qianjin’s anger flared. “What’s wrong? Did someone in your dormitory bully you? Tell me who it is, and I’ll deal with them.”

“No, there’s no need. We all live in the same dorm. It won’t be good if things get awkward. They just said a few sour things because they’re unhappy with my good grades and me being in front of the teacher. It’s nothing.”

“Yulian, you’re too soft-hearted. You always want to be considerate of others and suffer injustice yourself.”

Yu Qianjin hugged Sun Yulian and leaned in to kiss her. Sun Yulian closed her eyes and accepted it patiently.

After the kiss, Yu Qianjin, moved, said, “Yulian, be my partner. After graduation, we’ll get married. My dad will arrange a job for you, and we can stay in Haicheng and work together.”

Sun Yulian nodded shyly and snuggled into his arms. Yes, what did a lover mean? What did a child mean? What did true love mean? Only a future, power, wealth, and a respected status mattered to her.

That’s all she needed.

Qi Shaoqiang came to pick up Jiang Li after class. “Why are you staring at that girl? Do you know her?”

“My roommate. You can see how small this world is. Her old lover used to work at the Dashuping queue. I wonder if you remember him. His name is Chang Jinguang.”

“Is he the one who married the niece of Accountant Ding from your brigade?” Qi Shaoqiang asked quickly.

“Yes.” Jiang Li told Qi Shaoqiang everything, which made him unhappy. “Sun Yulian is really corrupt. She’s been sucking up to both sides. I bet her husband doesn’t know about this.”

“I don’t know.”

“By the way, Xiaoting invited me to her house for dinner tomorrow. Let’s buy clothes for the two kids.”

When the baby turned one month old, Jiang Li gave each of them a silver safety lock and bracelet. The two children were so heavy and cute that Jiang Li really liked them and visited every couple of days.

“Oh, there’s some good news. Wei Qi said today that he found a suitable house for us. We can go see it anytime.”

“That’s great. After we eat, let’s go and take a look this afternoon.”

Wei Qi, well-connected and thoughtful, found a house less than a 20-minute walk from the school. It was a two-story blue-brick house with a small courtyard, and the bricks on the courtyard wall were all carved.

The house had seven rooms across two floors. The first floor had three rooms and a kitchen that spanned from north to south, along with a separate bathroom in the yard. The three rooms on the second floor were connected, with balconies in the front and back.

The flower beds in the yard were lush with flowers and leaves. A swing hung under the grape trellis, and a horizontal line was carved in chalk on the quaint wooden door, reading, “Youyou is 93 cm at three years old, and 110 cm at five years old.” It was clearly a place where adults recorded their children’s growth.

The corners of the courtyard wall were filled with cute childlike graffiti. The wind chimes on the second floor rang with the wind, producing crisp sounds.

The moment she saw this yard, Jiang Li decided to buy it.

The seller was an elegant lady in her forties, wearing a cheongsam with golden piping. She pushed her glasses up on her nose from time to time while speaking, her eyes filled with nostalgia as she gazed at the yard.

Jiang Li couldn’t help but feel curious. Was the Youyou on the wooden door the lady’s child?

When signing the contract, Jiang Li saw the name Yun Lanyou.

“I always sell houses based on my personal preference. I can’t bear to hand this house over to the wrong person, for fear it will be ruined.”

“This house is really beautiful. Don’t worry, we will take good care of it.”

Ms. Yun smiled and said, “I am going to Hong Kong with my husband and will never come back. If not for this, I would never sell it. This house is handed over to you, and I hope you will cherish it.” She placed the two sets of keys into Jiang Li’s hands.

The car parked at the entrance of the alley flashed its lights. Jiang Li and Qi Shaoqiang sent Ms. Yun out. A silver-haired man in a suit got out of the car. He had a high nose and deep-set eyes, with dark blue pupils. He was a foreigner.

Yun Lanyou’s husband opened the car door for her, saw them, and waved.

The car window slowly rolled up, and Jiang Li held the keys in her hand. Only then did she feel the reality of having bought a house.

The house cost two thousand eight hundred yuan, which almost emptied Jiang Li’s cash, leaving only a little over two hundred yuan in liquid funds.

Fortunately, Jiang Li had already started setting up a stall, and Qi Shaoqiang also had a job. If they saved slowly, they would be able to recover the money.

“Write to Mom and Grandma and ask them to buy the tickets.”

As soon as Jiang Li settled down, she missed her mother-in-law and wished that Chen Xianyun and the old lady would arrive tomorrow.

Qi Shaoqiang was putting on an apron and cleaning. Although the courtyard looked nice, it had obviously not been occupied for some time. If anyone wanted to move in, they would have to clean it thoroughly.

“Don’t worry, let’s go back when you have a holiday. Mom and Grandma have never traveled far, so if we want to take the train, we’ll need someone to accompany them. A lot of the furniture in the house is new, and it would be a pity to leave it in the countryside, so we’ll need to find a car to move it all up. And the chickens and ducks we raise, and the vegetables we grow, all need to be taken care of.”

After hearing what Qi Shaoqiang said, Jiang Li agreed that it made sense. “Then I’ll write a letter to mother now to tell them that we bought a house and make them happy.”

Qi Shaoqiang smiled and nodded. “Then you go ahead and write, I’ll sweep the dust here, don’t let it get on you.”

Because cleaning was tiring, they simply had some noodles for dinner. Jiang Li and Qi Shaoqiang’s rooms were arranged in the two rooms on the left side of the first floor.

After moving into their new home, Jiang Li thought she might not be able to adapt, but sleeping next to Qi Shaoqiang, she actually slept until dawn without even dreaming.

After everything was in place and the necessary preparations made, Jiang Li invited Qin Xiaoting’s family to a housewarming party. Having not seen Liu Lixin for several months, he looked visibly haggard.

Seeing Jiang Li looking at him, Liu Lixin felt a little embarrassed. “Nannan was making a fuss last night, so I didn’t sleep well.”
