Running Over The Head Of My Ex [Rebirth]

Chapter 58

Chapter 58

Wonders’ new dormitory was located in Crescent Garden, a seaside residence in City B. It was on the top floor, offering a broad view and a high level of privacy.

There were four bedrooms: three with double beds and one single room, just like the setup they had in London.

This time, there was no need to draw lots; Tao Jinghan volunteered to take the single room, but not without casting a glare at He Qingqi, who tried hard to suppress her smile.

Hypocrite!

Tao Jinghan was thoroughly disgusted with her.

Had she forgotten her previous gentlemanly behavior? Who was she pretending to be?

The other three rooms were almost identical, so there wasn’t much to choose from. He Qingqi, never one to stand on ceremony, quickly chose a sunlit bedroom.

She pulled her suitcase into the room, neatly arranged her clothes and cosmetics, and tidied up the space.

The room was spacious, with a large 1.8-meter bed. The bedding was newly bought by Yunshu Entertainment, and the room featured a large wardrobe, a bathroom, and even an LCD TV mounted on the wall.

The bathroom had a toilet with a cushion, and the sink was already stocked with toiletries.

It felt less like a dormitory and more like a hotel.

He Qingqi hung up her towel and picked up the shampoo, chuckling as she recognized it as their endorsed product.

The body wash was, too.

After checking out the bathroom and adjusting to the indoor temperature, He Qingqi frowned for a moment, walked over to the window, opened it for ventilation, and turned off the air conditioner.

She still remembered that Zhuo Zhiwei was sensitive to the cold.

Smiling softly, she leaned against the window and gazed at Zhuo Zhiwei’s slender back, finding even the back view captivating.

Zhuo Zhiwei, busy and sweating, suddenly straightened up, puzzled by the turned-off air conditioner.

She frowned and glanced back at He Qingqi.

Their eyes met, and that person’s excessively bright smile made Zhuo Zhiwei’s heart flutter unexpectedly. She froze for a moment, then smiled faintly, with a hint of indulgence.

Forget it.

Let her do as she pleases.

At worst, she’d just be a bit warm.

So, she bent down again to continue unpacking.

Having received a faint smile from the cool beauty, He Qingqi felt even more giddy.

Well done! She praised herself inwardly.

By now, it was nearing evening, and after Yang Pei ordered takeout for them, she left.

After a long day of traveling, the seven of them had little desire for fun. After dinner and a shower, they collapsed on their respective beds like dead fish, either reading, watching TV, or playing on their phones.

Only Zhuo Zhiwei, ever-disciplined, was still running in the gym.

He Qingqi stared at the TV, which was playing the tenth version of *The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber, just as the scene between Zhao Min and Zhou Zhiruo on Spirit Snake Island was unfolding. She smacked her lips, feeling rather uninterested.

Both girls were incredibly beautiful and exceptionally intelligent. Why fight so fiercely over the indecisive Zhang Wuji?

If she had to pick someone to spend her life with, He Qingqi thought they would make a perfect pair.

One was as radiant as a rose, the other as elegant as an orchid.

Yet they ended up being rivals.

What a pity.

He Qingqi clicked her tongue twice and shook her head.

She turned off the TV, lay on the bed, her blue-black hair spilling over the covers, and stared silently at the ceiling.

After a moment, she took out her phone from under the pillow and absentmindedly searched for “MinRuo” on Weibo.

Sure enough, there were many fellow fans.

She clicked into the Super Topic and watched a few fan-edited videos, unexpectedly finding them quite interesting.

He Qingqi unconsciously curled her lips, kicking her legs in the air, smiling like a fool.

Suddenly, her laughter stopped, and she seemed to remember something, freezing in place.

Her eyes flickered as she licked her lips, a slight blush creeping onto her face.

Like a thief, she glanced at the door, then buried herself and her phone under the blanket, clicking into the CP Super Topic.

The top-ranked topic was unmistakably familiar: QingWei.

Qing for He Qingqi, and Wei for Zhuo Zhiwei.

She pressed her lips together, the corners of her mouth curving slightly.

Although she had heard this CP name from Chai Xu and Tao Jinghan before, seeing it with her own eyes was a completely different feeling.

A bit… shy.

He Qingqi, who feared nothing outside, blushed at just two characters, turning into a meek little lion.

But her curiosity got the better of her, and she nervously clicked in.

After a moment’s thought, she locked her phone, got out of bed, put on her slippers, and walked to the door of the only single room in the house, knocking softly.

“Who is it?” Tao Jinghan asked cautiously.

“It’s me.”

Tao Jinghan opened the door and rolled her eyes dramatically, her tone not exactly friendly. “What do you want?”

She even sounded a bit disdainful.

He Qingqi pretended to be curious, peering into her room before slowly studying her face. “No golden house hiding a beauty? Why so wary?”

“Not wary,” Tao Jinghan stepped aside, indicating that He Qingqi could enter, but she didn’t spare her any harsh words. “Just not very welcoming.”

Once the door was closed, she added, “Why aren’t you in your room keeping an eye on your dear Weiwei? What brings you here?”

He Qingqi wasn’t about to admit her real reason for coming, so she averted her gaze and licked her lips. “Just here to check on a lonely old lady; is that not allowed?”

“Who are you calling a lonely old lady?” Tao Jinghan glared at her and said, “Out, out, get out.”

As she spoke, she began pushing He Qingqi toward the door.

“Hey…” He Qingqi resisted while grinning sheepishly, “Alright, alright, I was wrong.”

“I was wrong, Captain.”

Tao Jinghan hit her a few more times before letting her sit down.

Then she straightened herself up on the bed and started typing on her phone.

“What are you doing?” He Qingqi suddenly became curious, craning her neck to look.

Tao Jinghan wasn’t secretive, showing her screen openly, “The W.S. group chat.”

“You guys have a group chat?” He Qingqi’s eyes lit up with interest as she noticed the chat interface. “Do they have WeChat too?”

“Yeah,” Tao Jinghan answered absentmindedly, her white fingers flying across the screen. “But it’s not as commonly used there as it is here.”

He Qingqi gave her a teasing glance, her eyes sparkling mischievously as she teased, “So… they downloaded it for you?”

Tao Jinghan thought for a moment and didn’t see any reason to deny it, replying frankly, “More or less; after all, we lived and ate together for more than three years.”

“It’s normal to have some feelings.”

Seeing her calm expression, He Qingqi pouted, suddenly losing interest. Moreover, asking further felt like poking at someone’s sore spot, so she sensibly kept quiet.

Noticing that Tao Jinghan was too engrossed in the chat to pay attention to her, she smirked and discreetly pulled out her phone, fiddling with it sneakily.

In truth, Bian Sui had not spoken to Tao Jinghan since they parted ways the day before, and now she was only bantering with other members.

Tao Jinghan’s eyes grew distant, and she sighed. It was easier said than done—when she had declared that no one could make her wait in vain, it had been nothing more than bravado.

Call her foolish or pathetic, but even after Bian Sui had trampled on her feelings so thoroughly that day, she couldn’t stop herself from wanting to keep an eye on her movements.

So, she was in the group chat, using words that felt increasingly foreign to her, bantering with her former teammates, trying to catch Bian Sui’s attention.

Tao Jinghan lowered her gaze, letting out a self-mocking chuckle as she tossed her phone aside.

Suddenly remembering that He Qingqi was still sitting in her room, she felt a bit guilty for neglecting her. After a moment of calm, she asked, “Did you need something?”

Her expression was quite serious.

He Qingqi, startled by the sudden question, quickly stuffed her phone into her pajama pocket and said, “Just… just sitting here.” Her eyes darted around, and she stammered.

Guilty as charged.

Tao Jinghan raised an eyebrow, suddenly intrigued. Was she… hiding something?

A glimmer of amusement flashed in her eyes as she discreetly glanced at He Qingqi’s pajamas, clearly not planning to let them slide.

“Really?”

“Then go ahead.” She motioned towards He Qingqi’s phone with a nod, crossing her arms as if she intended to keep watching.

He Qingqi had come here because she feared that Zhuo Zhiwei might discover what she was doing in her room and thought Tao Jinghan’s place would be safer.

Besides, Tao Jinghan had done similar things before.

She suddenly felt calm, straightening up and deciding not to hide it anymore.

But she couldn’t lose her momentum, so she still glared at Tao Jinghan, impatiently waving her hand. “Alright, alright, I wasn’t planning to hide it from you.”

With that, she pulled out her phone, resigned to her fate.

Tao Jinghan leaned in and saw the words “QingWei Super Topic” shining brightly on Weibo.

She couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

This laughter made He Qingqi blush furiously, her ears turning almost transparent, and she glared at Tao Jinghan in embarrassment.

Tao Jinghan quickly lowered her overly high-spirited smile, trying to appear serious. “Alright, I won’t laugh.”

But she couldn’t hold it in for long, bursting into laughter again. “Haha, sorry, I can’t help it, hahaha.”

“If your CP fans found out about this, they’d be over the moon!”

He Qingqi was so furious that steam seemed to be coming out of her head, and she snapped back, “Haven’t you ever seen this before?”

Tao Jinghan, struggling to keep a straight face, quickly nodded. “Seen it, seen it.”

“I won’t laugh.” Tao Jinghan cleared her throat, pretending to be serious, and raised her hands in surrender.

Then she leaned in closer to He Qingqi.

But this time, He Qingqi didn’t let her see, covering her phone and glaring at her. “Don’t you have your own phone?”

Tao Jinghan blinked innocently. “I do, but how could looking at my own phone compare to the joy of watching with the person involved?”

“You still can’t see.” He Qingqi turned her back on her.

Apparently, their CP moment that morning had been a great success, as the QingWei Super Topic was in full celebration mode, with countless reposts of Zhuo Zhiwei holding onto her arm from different angles.

It seemed like their fans were practically high on sugar.

He Qingqi’s eyes landed on a particular Weibo post:

“When I saw the two of them being all lovey-dovey today, I couldn’t help but scream, ‘QingWei is real!’ I was expecting to get into a fight with the solo fans tonight, but to my surprise, there was none!

Weiwei even smiled at me. OMG! Let me say it three times: Weiwei smiled at me, Weiwei smiled at me, Weiwei smiled at me! QingWei is real!”

Though she knew it was probably just CP fans reading too much into things, He Qingqi couldn’t help but pound the bed, her face flushing as she inwardly freaked out.

She kept scrolling until she came across a video, not sure which genius had edited it. It combined all their expressions and movements during their time together, creating an entirely new story.

The story started with their first stage performance.

Her arrogant and dramatic point: “I choose Zhuo Zhiwei.” And so, the curtain rose, followed by the subtle tension in their duet, and finally, the fleeting smile Zhuo Zhiwei gave during “Journey.”

The flicker of her eyes and the hint of red at the corner seemed to speak of countless unsaid feelings.

He Qingqi was utterly engrossed, wanting to applaud the video.

As the progress bar reached the final second, He Qingqi suddenly slapped her knee, her cheeks flushing as she quietly declared, “QingWei is real!!”

Sitting beside her, Tao Jinghan observed her in silence for a moment, as if watching an idiot.

He Qingqi glared back. “What are you staring at? Never seen this before?”

Tao Jinghan’s gaze was sincere, and she nodded. “You’re right, I’ve never seen this before.”

“I’ve never seen someone ship their own CP and get so emotionally invested.”

He Qingqi gave her a suspicious look, clearly not buying it, and mimicked the CP fans outside, “JingTong is real!!”

Tao Jinghan remained unmoved, her face expressionless.

“Fake,” she said.

Those two words were spoken with more sincerity than even the solo fans could muster.

He Qingqi was successfully silenced, rubbing her nose as she squeezed out two words: “You win.”

Tao Jinghan glanced at her but didn’t wait for her to speak again when her phone rang.

It was a video call invitation.
