Running Over The Head Of My Ex [Rebirth]

Chapter 60

Chapter 60

The Crescent Garden was not far from the university that He Qingqi attended. As the end of the semester approached, she found herself frequently visiting the school, submitting several final projects, and taking a few exams.

A few days ago, she measured her height and weight, and at 55 kg, He Qingqi stood out as the heaviest among the seven-member girl group.

Moreover, Lin Xi, being strict and fearless, ordered her to lose weight and get under 50 kg within a month upon discovering He Qingqi’s weight. With dieting, exercising, and juggling both her studies and work, He Qingqi was nearly starving and miserable.

In fact, Lin Xi was prepared for He Qingqi to throw a tantrum, considering the incident with “Oushi” (Occasionally). Although it wasn’t entirely He Qingqi’s fault, people tend to sympathize with the weaker party, making the other seem more domineering.

To Lin Xi’s surprise, He Qingqi obediently started losing weight, which astonished her.

Within less than two weeks, He Qingqi had lost seven pounds, and her abdominal muscles became more defined.

On Weibo, a marketing account released a set of photos along with a video, taken not far from the campus.

He Qingqi was dressed simply in a white T-shirt and jeans, her hair dyed back to black. With her head slightly lowered, she swept her hair back, furrowing her brows and pursing her lips as she walked with a strong, unapproachable aura.

Fans quickly flocked to the post.

“Ahhh!! My little He is so cool; my heart can’t take it!!”

“A mother fan turning into a girlfriend fan on the spot—sister, I’m in!!”

“That waist and those legs are absolutely stunning!”

Meanwhile, CP fans quietly reposted it in their super topics.

“With that face, height, and aura, whoever said Xi Xi was a bottom, come out and take a beating!”

Someone supporting He Qingqi as a bottom quickly threw out a photo of her in London, looking obedient with her brows furrowed, and asked, “Who’s taking the beating now?”

Recently, the first episode of “Miracle Journey” aired, gaining some popularity thanks to the success of “偶时”. The Qingwei CP fanbase continued to grow.

“When two tops meet, one must yield. Don’t be fooled by Xi Xi’s badass exterior; at home, she’s definitely under Weiwei’s control.”

“Upstairs, you might not know about the ‘puppy top’—a cute yet dominant type.”

“To be honest, I’ve never heard of that.”

“Why must there be a top and bottom? Why not both?”

The Qingwei CP fans once again fiercely debated who was at the top and who was at the bottom, analyzing every clue, but in the end, they couldn’t decide. The only conclusion was:

Qingwei is real!

As the sun slowly set, the car cruised towards the well-secured Crescent Garden. He Qingqi wasn’t fond of the cold air blowing from the AC, so she rolled down the window.

The stifling heat from the school campus gradually dissipated, carried away by the sea breeze, ruffling the strands of hair around He Qingqi’s ears.

Tucking her hair back, she half-closed her eyes and remarked, “This place isn’t bad.”

Lin Fan, smiling, glanced at her through the rearview mirror and agreed, “Yes, being by the sea is indeed cooler.”

He Qingqi tilted her chin up, closed her eyes, and smiled contentedly, exuding a serene tranquility. “You’ve been a big help these days. I’ll give you a red envelope later.”

“You must be exhausted,” Lin Fan laughed. “Fortunately, today was the last exam.”

“Yes.” He Qingqi sighed deeply, stretching lazily. “It’s finally over. Unfortunately, I won’t have much time to relax before Lin Xi starts giving me more work.”

Because of He Qingqi’s busy academic schedule, Lin Xi has mercifully let her off the hook for the past few days. In fact, Tao Jinghan and Zhuo Zhiwei had been busy with their own schedules, barely having time to rest, while He Qingqi had the luxury of staying in her dorm.

Sure enough, as soon as He Qingqi returned to her dorm, she received her new work assignment.

“An interview?”

Lin Xi, sitting on the sofa opposite He Qingqi, crossed her legs and asked, “You’ll be with Jinghan and Zhiwei. Shouldn’t be a problem, right?”

He Qingqi nodded. “No problem. My exams are over anyway.”

Lin Xi smiled with satisfaction.

She then remembered He Qingqi’s privileged background and continued, with some patience, “Although domestic music programs are in production, as far as I know, the He family seems to be planning something too.”

He Qingqi thought for a moment. Her grandmother had indeed mentioned it to her—something proposed by He Qingzhou. They had even set up a charity foundation where she would deposit twice the amount of any income she earned. She nodded in confirmation.

Lin Xi continued, “However, it’s not particularly mature yet. So besides continuing with singing and dancing, you’ll inevitably have to pursue individual schedules, like participating in variety shows.”

“I understand,” He Qingqi blinked. In truth, she was tired of Lin Xi’s overly cautious demeanor.

After a brief pause, she said, “Actually, Sister Xi, you don’t have to worry so much about my feelings. Just treat me like any other member; there is no need for any special considerations.”

“I’m not a man-eating tiger,” He Qingqi laughed lightly.

“You all have a tough job, and as long as there are no issues of principle, like…” He Qingqi hesitated and made a vague gesture: “Those kinds of things, I’m not unreasonable.”

“Even if you don’t trust me, I think the name He Dongche still holds some credibility. He wouldn’t let me mess around.”

Lin Xi paused for a few seconds, then let out a sigh of relief. “Hearing that from you puts me at ease.”

Whether she truly felt relieved or not wasn’t He Qingqi’s concern.

In any case, she had said what needed to be said. How to proceed was up to Lin Xi.

The next day’s interview was scheduled for 2 p.m. In the dressing room, the Wonders team was busy applying makeup to the three of them.

Soon after, the staff led them into the interview room to begin.

Today, Tao Jinghan wore orange eyeshadow, which was both exquisite and graceful, almost as if she had stepped out of a galaxy.

The moment He Qingqi saw her, something came to mind, and she couldn’t help but suppress a laugh all the way, sneaking glances at Tao Jinghan.

If she didn’t know Tao Jinghan liked Zhuo Zhiwei, Tao Jinghan might have thought He Qingqi had a crush on her.

But being stared at like that wasn’t pleasant, especially with such a strange look in her eyes. Tao Jinghan asked He Qingqi a few times what was going on, but she just shook her head, chuckling without saying anything.

Those few days of thinking He Qingqi was likable? Definitely her own poor judgment.

Tao Jinghan’s teeth ground with irritation.

Just as she was about to sit on the sofa, Tao Jinghan grabbed He Qingqi’s elbow, leaned close, and hissed in her ear, “What exactly are you laughing about?”

He Qingqi first let out a snicker, then suppressed it, cleared her throat, and tried to keep a straight face. “Nothing.”

As if.

Zhuo Zhiwei had already taken her seat on the far right and was looking at them with a bit of confusion.

He Qingqi quickly grinned sheepishly at her.

When intimidation didn’t work, Tao Jinghan switched to temptation. She leaned closer to He Qingqi’s ear, chuckling softly. “Tell me, and I’ll let you sit in my spot.”

“!!!” He Qingqi suddenly became serious, her eyes sparkling.

Clearly, she was tempted.

He Qingqi pursed her lips and, weighing her options between risking her life and sitting next to Zhuo Zhiwei, chose the latter without hesitation.

She rolled her eyes. “Have you ever watched Naruto?”

Tao Jinghan didn’t understand the relevance but answered honestly, “I have.”

“Then do you know what Sage Mode is?”

As soon as she finished speaking, He Qingqi couldn’t hold back any longer, bursting into laughter. As if afraid Tao Jinghan might change her mind, she immediately plopped down next to Zhuo Zhiwei.

Zhuo Zhiwei looked from He Qingqi to Tao Jinghan and blinked, as if they had struck some kind of secret deal behind her back.

Tao Jinghan was momentarily stunned, then her face turned from pale to flushed with anger. She glared at He Qingqi with eyes practically shooting flames, so furious she almost rolled her eyes.

She rolled up her sleeves, then looked around, remembering that family matters shouldn’t be aired in public, and pulled her sleeves back down.

With a gaze filled with warning, she glared wide-eyed at He Qingqi, gritting her teeth. “He Qingqi, just you wait!”

He Qingqi shrugged, draping herself over Zhuo Zhiwei, indifferent. “Fine, I’ll wait.”

After all, she had secured the center seat.

Soon the host arrived, smiling warmly and speaking kindly: “You’ve all seen the script, so there shouldn’t be any problems, right?”

As the leader, Tao Jinghan responded appropriately, “No problem.”

She then discussed the seating arrangement with the host, who had no objections, so they began the interview under the lights.

He Qingqi glanced to the side, thinking to herself, “Back when I was a director, I had to do interviews to promote movies too—equally boring.”

The questions and even the answers were pre-prepared, with a teleprompter in case they forgot anything. It was all so unoriginal.

But since she had entered this industry, she had to play by its rules. Though He Qingqi found it dull, she wasn’t one to defy orders.

Even the most unpredictable element was behaving, so the interview quickly reached its final segment.

The host seemed to be visibly relaxed.

He Qingqi, with her sharp eyes, caught that slight easing of tension and felt unjustly treated. She had been very well-behaved since her rebirth—the most rebellious thing she’d done was pull Tong Ningze into the shot during “Miracle Journey.” Why did everyone treat her like a ticking time bomb?

She pouted and looked away, feeling annoyed.

Zhuo Zhiwei, discreetly observing He Qingqi’s obviously displeased expression, couldn’t help but follow her with her eyes wherever she went.

She is so cute, even her anger is adorable.

With a faint smile, she gently touched He Qingqi’s head.

He Qingqi looked back at her, instantly beaming.

The female host, possibly realizing her earlier actions had been too obvious, flashed a moment of embarrassment but quickly regained her composure, her smile becoming even more professional. Suddenly, an idea struck her, and she asked a question out of the script’s scope:

“If you had to describe each other as an animal, what would it be?”

All three of them froze, clearly caught off guard.

But it wasn’t a live broadcast, so they could always edit it later.

“Let’s start with Qingqi.”

Zhuo Zhiwei blinked, her eyes softening, and she smiled, her voice turning gentle. “A lion, perhaps.”

“Oh?” The host was intrigued, waiting for her to elaborate.

“Because… she’s both domineering and cute.” Zhuo Zhiwei sighed softly. “She would extend her claws to defend her territory and protect her.” Zhuo Zhiwei paused, then rephrased, “Protect the ones she cares about.”

“Being by her side always makes you feel protected.”

Hearing this, He Qingqi’s eyes gradually brightened, and the tips of her ears turned red as if they were blushing. Zhuo Zhiwei was no different; her eyes twinkled like stars.

For a moment, it seemed like pink bubbles were floating in the air.

Here we go again.

Tao Jinghan stared straight ahead, expressionless, mentally rolling her eyes.

Also, isn’t it the male lion that defends the territory? And doesn’t he protect his mate?

Too blatant.

She was the only one actually doing her job.

Oh.

Tao Jinghan’s gaze flickered toward the female host.

And her.

The host seemed to realize she had stumbled upon something big, exchanging a knowing glance with Tao Jinghan and subtly helping them cover up.

“What about you, Jinghan? What do you think Qingqi is like?”

Tao Jinghan pondered for a few seconds: “I think she’s like a fire qilin.”

“Oh?”

“Appearance-wise, it resembles a lion, and Qingqi is a Leo, isn’t she? Plus, the qilin is a mythical creature.” Tao Jinghan smiled, though her smile held a hint of mischief, clearly a subtle jab in response to the earlier ‘Sage Mode’ comment, while also covering for them.

“Symbolizing good fortune?” the host probed.

Tao Jinghan didn’t answer, turning to exchange a wry smile with He Qingqi, understanding passing silently between them.

He Qingqi ground her teeth, her eyes silently sparring with Tao Jinghan’s hidden daggers in their glances.

Zhuo Zhiwei watched the two of them silently, her big eyes twinkling with a secret smile.

The host found their interaction strange. The atmosphere of their gaze was completely different.

Then she remembered her earlier suspicion and had an epiphany.

She really had discovered something big!
