Shut Up, Malevolent Dragon! I Don’t Want to Have Any More Children With You

Vol 9. Chapter 26: Keep Being Haunted by Me

Vol 9. Chapter 26: Keep Being Haunted by Me

After joking a few times, Leon smiled and shook his head, let out a long breath, and then said:

“But... if the only way to go to Valhalla is to die, that still needs verification. After all, we can’t really risk our lives to run an experiment.”

Constantine replied in a low voice:

“Mhm. In any case, given the current situation, we don’t know much about Valhalla. Later we’ll keep gathering more intelligence about it and hope it can help with fighting the Void.”

Leon nodded.

“I’ll also find time later to make a trip to the Golden Thunder Clan and ask my mother—oh, that is, Hera. She should know some things too. And I’ll investigate Mevis as well.”

After the homecoming ceremony ended, the next few things Leon and the others needed to do were:

  • Figure out the method of reaching Valhalla, so Leon could inherit the complete power of Zeus;
  • Investigate and awaken the god Mevis—she might be the only primordial god still alive today;
  • Find the demonic sword eyeball Atos left behind—that might be the key to defeating an immortal body.

With their later goals set, their normally dull life finally had new motivation.

Leon looked ahead at the white spring. The waterflow was quiet, the vents beneath sank again, and under the sunlight, rainbows crossed and reflected one another—brilliant and crystal-clear.

An image flashed before Leon’s eyes—those images related to Atos.

This enemy, the greatest threat in history to Samael, and to his family:

“Sooner or later, I will defeat you with my own hands.”

    ...

A few days later, the Melkvey family and the newly minted lovers, Old Can and Orion, were about to leave Sky City.

Before they left, Kaizer came to the exit of Sky City to see them off, as required by the work manual.

The two of them kept hugging and trying to lean closer to each other, but they seemed a little embarrassed because people were watching nearby.

Seeing that, Leon very tactfully grabbed Rosvisser’s hand and motioned Constantine and Orion to walk a little farther away.

He left Isha and Kaizer some private time to say goodbye.

Isha held her hands as if she were holding some round object, and she smiled as she looked at Kaizer, tilting her head slightly.

“If it weren’t to pick a gift for Valendna, I probably wouldn’t come to Sky City again for a few months.”

Kaizer tugged at the corner of his mouth, lifted his eyes to glance at Isha, then quickly looked away. He didn’t say anything, only stared blankly at the ground.

Isha gave a soft hum of laughter.

“What I mean is, if you want to see me next time, it’ll be a few months from now~ You will...”

Isha lowered her hands and leaned closer to Kaizer as if she didn’t care, then also turned her gaze away, looking elsewhere.

“Mm. You will... you will miss me, won’t you.”

But Kaizer still didn’t say a single word.

Isha froze, thinking: Had she teased this socially anxious, pure big boy too much these past few days, to the point he was sick of it? To the point he couldn’t even speak?

Even the most wooden, most introverted person should respond to a question this direct from Isha.

As she thought, Isha put away her slightly coy manner and asked seriously:

“What’s wrong? Are you dissatisfied with me somewhere? Or... do you prefer a more serious, more sad kind of farewell?”

And this time, Kaizer finally responded.

“Miss Isha, I... I just don’t really understand.”

    “Don’t understand what?”

Kaizer didn’t answer right away. He looked toward Constantine and Orion not far away.

Even though the two of them usually wore icy faces, after confirming their relationship, the occasional princess-spoiling smile that slipped out was filled with beauty and happiness.

Kaizer’s action was caught keenly by Isha.

She noticed that when Kaizer looked at Constantine and Orion, the look in his eyes

was envy he was desperately suppressing.

Isha’s gaze shifted. She thought she probably understood why Kaizer was acting off.

“I don’t understand... what kind of person I am to you, Miss Isha.”

Kaizer lowered his eyes and continued, tangled up inside.

“I know my expression is a bit inadequate, but you should understand what I mean.”

    Of course Isha understood.

This was the classic “pure boy asks the mature older sister, ‘What are we now?’” segment.

Many people said that once you asked this, you had already lost.

Because you’d been together so long, and you still didn’t even know what place you held in the other person’s heart—that meant the romance was already finished.

And usually, a mature, reliable master of the dating battlefield older sister would say:

“We’re just friends,” thereby officially declaring the circus had performed a classic show.

But unfortunately, Isha wasn’t some master of romance, and she wasn’t the ringmaster of any circus.

And she definitely wasn’t some trashy woman who took pleasure in toying with boys’ feelings.

“These past few days, we really have had a lot of contact, Miss Isha, but the feeling you give me is... very... very distant and close at once.”

It was rare for Kaizer to say this much in one go, so Isha listened very seriously, without saying a single “You’re overthinking it,” or “You misunderstood.”

“You’re like a very, very light feather. Every time you’re about to fall into my hand, you get blown away by the wind. I can’t catch you no matter how I try. That kind of feeling... is really awful. Miss Isha, I just want to say—if you’re only bored and want to find someone to joke around with casually, to chat up and cool down some feelings, then please don’t look for me. I... I—”

Spilling out that much in one breath wasn’t easy for Kaizer.

And his language system was already struggling to hold up at this point.

After listening, Isha sniffed, lowered her head, and let out a snort of laughter.

“I didn’t think you could be embarrassed and annoyed, and still be this serious... Really didn’t think you could be this serious, kid...”

Seeing Isha still acting so frivolous, Kaizer’s heart tightened, and then came a faint surge of disappointment.

He drooped his shoulders, shoved both hands into his pockets, and no longer looked at Isha.

He only said in a low voice:

“My work is done, Miss Isha. You’re welcome to come to Sky City again. I wish you a smooth journey.”

After saying that, Kaizer turned around and took a step, about to walk back into the city.

But before he’d gone more than a few steps, Isha’s voice came from behind him.

“To me, you’re a very important person, Kaizer.”

Kaizer froze. With disbelief, he slowly turned back.

“That question you asked me—what kind of person you are to me.”

Isha looked back at Kaizer and said slowly:

“You’re a very important person. That is my answer. As for all those little thoughts in your heart—like why my attitude toward you is distant and close at once, why I can’t give you a straightforward answer... I don’t really want to answer those things for now. I know you might not trust me, think I’m toying with you, and that my refusal to answer these kinds of questions will make you feel even less secure, so...”

As she spoke, Isha raised her hands behind her head and slowly tied up the long red ribbon, gathering her hair into a ponytail.

In the end, she walked slowly to Kaizer’s side and looked into those violet eyes of his.

After waiting a moment, Isha turned her head to glance toward Leon and the others, who were watching the show very seriously not far away.

The instant Isha noticed them, Leon and the others immediately looked away, pretending nothing had happened.

Isha gave a soft snort, pulled her gaze back to meet Kaizer’s eyes again, and said:

“So, to give you enough security, I’ve decided—”

Isha rose onto her toes, cupped the side of Kaizer’s face with one hand, then lightly kissed the corner of his mouth.

Under Kaizer’s shocked gaze, Isha slowly pulled back.

Then she revealed that signature wicked smile. Her hand still didn’t leave Kaizer’s face.

Feeling his burning cheek, Isha lightly pressed a finger to Kaizer’s lips and said softly:

“Keep being haunted by me, alright?”
