Shut Up, Malevolent Dragon! I Don’t Want to Have Any More Children With You

Vol 9. Chapter 38: Memory Nightmare

Vol 9. Chapter 38: Memory Nightmare

Inside the recovery room, Poseidon sat on the bed, having just finished drinking the bowl of medicinal soup Charlotte had prepared for him.

“Do you feel better, Father?” Charlotte gently patted Poseidon’s back.

Poseidon nodded and handed the empty bowl back to his daughter.

“Much better. Thank you for the trouble, Charlotte... and also...”

As he spoke, he raised his head and looked toward the four people who had just entered through the door.

“And also you, Prince Consort, Silver Dragon King. I’ve caused you trouble as well.”

Leon and Rosvisser nodded and exchanged a few brief courtesies with Poseidon.

Tiger, meanwhile, stood silently by the doorway with his arms crossed.

The relationship between him and Poseidon was not truly hostile.

Of course, if Charlotte were to thank him, he would accept it.

After all, Poseidon had not approved of his relationship with Charlotte back then.

Over the years of living among the Sea Dragon Clan, their relationship had improved slightly, but not to the point where they would actively exchange pleasantries.

So Tiger did not step forward immediately to greet Poseidon, instead leaving the space to his disciple, his daughter-in-law, and his elder sister-in-law.

Claudia walked up, took hold of Poseidon’s wrist, and placed three fingers over his pulse.

After checking it, she said:

“Your body is still very weak. You’ll need to rest quietly for a long time.”

“Alright, I understand...”

Poseidon lowered his eyes. After a brief silence, he lifted his head again. His gaze passed over the others and finally landed on Tiger at the doorway.

After hesitating for a moment, he spoke slowly:

“This time... thank you as well, Tiger. If it weren’t for you, I might already have been seriously injured.”

Tiger froze for a moment, clearly not expecting the old Dragon King to thank him first.

He had thought that at most, he would give a token acknowledgment in private after everyone had left.

He hadn’t expected Poseidon to thank him outright in front of everyone.

Fortunately, Tiger wasn’t that cold of a man. Since his elder was giving him a way out, he wasn’t about to refuse the courtesy.

“Mhm. It’s nothing. I’ll always protect Charlotte.”

Hearing that, Poseidon smiled faintly, withdrew his gaze, and murmured in a low voice:

“Yes... you’ve always protected her very well.”

After a few simple exchanges, the conversation returned to the Demon Eye.

Leon stepped to the ice bed and asked:

“Senior, from what you said earlier, during the time you were possessed by the Demon Eye, you were aware of what you were doing. Is that correct?”

Poseidon nodded.

“Yes.”

“Then was it... a struggle for control of the body with the Demon Eye, or something else? Could you describe it in detail? This might help us deal with the Demon Eye in the future.”

Poseidon thought for a moment, then spoke slowly:

“It felt like it locked my consciousness inside a cage. I could feel everything it felt, and see everything it saw. But I couldn’t take any action at all. I could only stay inside that prison of consciousness, watching everything it did.”

That was more or less what Leon had guessed.

Since it was a parasitic eyeball with its own consciousness, it was very likely that the eye housed the soul of a former Void sovereign, or something similar.

After possessing a body, while drawing on that body’s power, it would also take full control, forcing the original soul or consciousness aside—just as Poseidon described: imprisoning the consciousness.

“And after imprisoning your consciousness, did the Demon Eye have any other intentions?” Leon asked.

Poseidon let out a heavy:

“Mm. During the time my consciousness was imprisoned, I could feel it gradually becoming blurred and scattered. The Demon Eye wasn’t just controlling it. It was trying to erase it bit by bit. That way, it could completely seize my body and my power. And the entire process of that consciousness dispersing—I could feel every bit of it clearly.”

This was as close to death as an experience could get.

As consciousness gradually dissipated, the helplessness and the sensation of falling—people who had never experienced it truly couldn’t imagine it.

Leon pressed his lips together and patted Poseidon’s shoulder.

“You’ve suffered... it really is just like what you said on the island. A very terrifying nightmare.”

Nightmare.

When he heard that word, Poseidon’s dragon pupils suddenly trembled, and his body shuddered involuntarily.

Seeing this, Claudia immediately stepped forward.

“What’s wrong, Father? Are you feeling unwell somewhere? Or...”

Poseidon raised a hand.

“No. It’s just that the Prince Consort mentioned nightmares just now.”

...

As he spoke, he let out a long breath and closed his eyes. A chill rose uncontrollably in his heart.

Forcing down the fear and cold inside him, Poseidon swallowed, then slowly opened his eyes again and looked back at Leon.

“The nightmare I mentioned actually has nothing to do with my consciousness dissipating...”

Leon raised an eyebrow.

“Then what was it?”

“It’s strange to say, but while I was possessed by the Demon Eye, I could vaguely see its past memories as well.”

As soon as he said that, Leon and the others all became visibly more serious.

Rosvisser stepped forward and asked in a slightly hurried tone:

“Senior, are you saying you saw the Demon Eye’s memories?”

“Yes.”

Poseidon nodded.

“But only fragments. Very scattered, like shards of glass. Some scenes I couldn’t even see clearly.”

“Then why do you say those memories were nightmares?” Claudia asked.

Poseidon sighed and continued:

“Because even in those fragmented memories, what they showed... ...was an evil and violence that ordinary people simply cannot imagine. Just from those memories alone, I already felt... felt chilled to the bone. Believe me, Prince Consort, Silver Dragon King. That was the most chaotic, most disorderly thing I’ve seen in my entire life.”

The Void itself was a world of chaos and disorder.

Leon and Rosvisser still remembered clearly that long ago, one of Atos’s lackeys—the deranged one who wielded a scythe—had been able to temporarily break through the layer between space and the world of Samael with that scythe.

Leon and Rosvisser had both briefly experienced it through that breach—they had even extended their hands into the Void itself.

Even so, they had only suffered eighty percent of its gloom and chill.

It was an evil world they could not comprehend.

One look was enough to drive an ordinary person mad and broken.

Let alone Poseidon directly witnessing the Demon Eye’s memories.

“That really is a terrifying nightmare,” Leon murmured.

At the same time, he quietly felt fortunate that back then, he, Rosvisser, and their allies had successfully stopped Atos’s invasion.

Otherwise, Samael might long since have fallen into a hell on earth like the Void.

He had wanted to ask more questions, but seeing Poseidon’s current condition, Leon and the others chose not to press further.

“Then please rest well, Senior. We won’t disturb you.”

“Alright.”

“I’ll stay with Father. After twelve hours, you come relieve me, Claudia,” Charlotte said.

“Okay, Sis.”

After saying their goodbyes, Leon took Rosvisser’s hand and, together with his master and the others, walked toward the recovery room door.

Everyone left one after another.

But just as Leon was about to step out of the room, Poseidon suddenly called out to him.

“Wait, Prince Consort!”

Leon stopped and turned back.

“What is it, Senior?”

Poseidon covered his forehead, his expression pained.

“At the time... in those memories I saw, there seemed to also be—the scene of it being defeated by Atos.”
