Side Character Transmigrations: The Final Boss is No Joke

Chapter 836: Scam Artists are Not Cute! (4)

A truck emerged from nowhere and collided with the bus, sending it skidding a considerable distance. The impact was so severe that it warped and twisted the metal of the bus frame.

After several moments of eerie silence, the scene resumed its chaos, and many of the braver individuals rushed towards the bus… only to discover that the bus doors had inexplicably jammed shut, refusing to open no matter how hard they were pushed. People had no choice but to crawl through the windows in order to rescue those trapped inside.

Inside the bus, Shi Sheng released the child and hastily examined her own arm. A shard of broken glass was embedded in it, continuously oozing fresh blood that quickly stained her clothes crimson.

The assailant lay prostrate on a seat, motionless and with no indication whether they were alive or dead.

Before Shi Sheng could approach him for examination, she was taken out by incoming rescuers.

The police and ambulance arrived late. The woman and thug were both sent to hospital for treatment while Shi Sheng refused medical attention at first but eventually allowed doctors to bandage her wound on site as it wasn’t too deep nor serious enough for further treatment elsewhere.

“Hello…it’s you?” Hong Dui originally came looking for those involved in questioning but upon seeing Shi Sheng again after just leaving police custody earlier that day made him twitch his mouth slightly in confusion.

Shi Sheng lowered her gaze at her wrapped-up arm without looking up at Hong Dui who felt awkward about this situation. He cleared his throat before saying “Miss Bu, I have some questions I hope you can cooperate with.”

“I don’t know the victims, acted bravely when needed, feeling good.” Shi Sheng replied simply without raising her head which left Hong Dui bewildered momentarily until he realized she was answering his questions preemptively like an old pro!

Hong Dui asked a few more perfunctory questions which Shi Sheng answered equally simply yet correctly before finally asking if she could leave contact information so they can reach out if necessary later on.

Shi Sheng left her predecessor’s phone number and took a few steps before turning back to Hong Dui, “Can you give me a ride home?”

Hong Dui: “…”

He found someone to send Shi Sheng home.

“Hong Dui, look at this.” A police officer hurriedly ran over and handed his notebook to Hong Dui.

The surveillance footage of the bus was playing on the computer. Most passengers had already gotten off when the cute-looking girl walked slowly towards the door as if she was about to leave but then changed her mind upon seeing the injured woman lying on the ground outside.

Then he heard a voice saying ‘go die’.

Immediately after that, a truck collided with the bus.

“Hong Dui, this little girl is quite strange,” the officer said just as they watched in horror as it happened again right before their eyes.

Hong Dui repeatedly reviewed that short video clip and asked quickly, “What happened with that truck?”

The officer replied promptly, “Fatigued driving; when making turns, he mistook the brakes for the accelerator which caused him to crash into us without any doubt.”

If not for that thug being impaled by his own knife during impact which led them straight to him later on due to other cases linked together recently causing public uproar, Shi Sheng would have been considered a suspect too since she was present at both incidents involving death or injury within such close proximity of time and location!

“It’s just coincidence; don’t jump to conclusions.” Hong Dui said while frowning slightly even though he himself wasn’t sure whether it really was just coincidence or something else entirely.

This case ended quickly afterwards. The thug turned out be wanted for multiple murders recently committed so he got life imprisonment sentence while surviving victims were expected to recover well, despite serious injuries sustained from the accident earlier.

Shi Sheng turned off the TV and pondered while stroking her chin.

It seemed that the power of words could not directly take lives, even for those who were extremely wicked.

If she could just open her mouth and cause death, then wouldn’t she be invincible?

Shi Sheng felt that this skill needed to be explored further. ‘Maybe I could become a legendary swindler!’

Shi Sheng searched for An Chen on the computer in the original owner’s room and various information immediately popped up. An Chen was indeed good-looking, with a sunny and handsome appearance and a bit of arrogance. He was currently one of the most popular figures.

The hottest thing about him was his new song – 《Time With You》.

Shi clicked play, An Chen’s voice was somewhat deep and magnetic, singing love songs very well.

But this song…

It had a bit of an ancient style to it and required a more clear and ethereal voice to sing it properly. Being sung by An Chen like this actually ruined it.

An Chen already had fame but although this song was quite popular, it definitely wasn’t at the level where everyone knew about it.

Shi Sheng propped her chin up as she tapped her fingers on the keyboard absentmindedly.

Yin BaoBao took away the original manuscript so even if Shi wanted to sue her, she couldn’t do anything about it.

‘Do I have to go steal it back?’

Shi Sheng tried hard to find out what inspired the original owner when creating this song but found nothing once again.

‘This happened all too often!’

《Time With You》…

The name sounded like something related to love but its lyrics were not about that at all. This song had nothing to do with romance.

“Ding Ling Ling…”

The ringing from the living room phone interrupted Shi Sheng’s thoughts. Who would call at such an hour?

She got up from her seat in front of the computer screen and walked over towards where the phone sat before picking up without saying anything yet; however, someone on other end started talking rapidly right away:

“Yu-ge is in trouble! Xia-ge got into a fight with someone at the club tonight. You need to come quickly!”

The other end was very noisy and the person speaking sounded urgent, their words coming out rapidly.

After waiting for a while without hearing any response, they called out again anxiously: “Yu-ge?”

“My uncle’s not here,” Shi Sheng replied calmly.

“Uncle?” The other side seemed confused and it took them a moment before asking hesitantly: “Are you Xiao’guai[1]?”

What kind of name was that?

It took Shi Sheng quite some time to remember that everyone around Yu Sheng liked calling her this because she looked cute and obedient…

“Yeah.”

“Ah…” There was suddenly an exclamation from the phone but it wasn’t because of anything Shi Sheng said; rather, it was due to being caught up in the fight on the other end.

There were all sorts of strange noises on the line – cursing, shouting, etc.

Shi Sheng listened for quite some time but no one spoke from over there so she hung up.

She thought about it for a bit before dialling Yu Sheng’s number instead.

Unfortunately, his phone was turned off which explained why they had called home earlier.

Just as she finished hanging up after calling his company though, that same person called back once more:

“Xiao’guai? Xiao’guai? Do you know where Yu-ge went? Is he at home? If he is then tell him to hurry over or else someone might die. Stop fighting… Xiao’guai! Are you listening?”

Shi Sheng replied calmly: “My uncle’s away on business right now. He’s on a plane.”

“What?! Business trip?! At this hour… It’s over… It’s over…”

He muttered a few more things, and Shi Sheng heard a loud bang before the line went dead.

Shi Sheng shrugged innocently.

[1] –  小乖,it’s a term of affection. 乖 means “obedient”. Parents will often call their kids “乖乖”.
