Chapter 81, Killing a Great Demon and Hidden Dangers
Chapter 81, Killing a Great Demon and Hidden Dangers

“You asked for it!”
In its rage, the golden eagle spread its wings, and the golden feathers on it shot like arrows, piercing everything within a hundred meters.
Nothing withstood the onslaught.
The area attack was similar to a cultivator’s sword formation or array.
Xu Hei was more than ready for anything, gathering the scales to form a shield while he slinked further underground.
The eagle’s eyes were red. Using his last move made all his feathers turn into sharp swords to annihilate everything around, but it also left him unable to fly.
Xu Hei’s earlier attack made sure he couldn’t fly anyway. It made sense to use it while he could.
“Again!”
Xu Hei stared at his naked wings and had the puppets continue the stone-throwing.
His contribution was through Earth Spikes and other magical arts, with a scale every so often mixed in between to keep the golden birdie as enraged as possible.
He was already regretting coming down here. “Just you wait!”
The eagle used his feathers to make a path, climbing with his talons. On the surface, it scampered away like a free-range chicken, straight out of the valley.
Robbed of flight, he was left with walking, cutting his speed down to that of an average Awareness Stage demon.
“You can’t escape!”
Xu Hei never left such an enemy walk away. Once the golden eagle regrew his feathers, he was sure to come for revenge. Now that he knew Xu Hei’s tactics and scales, he would be that much tougher to fight.
It would be the worst scenario. He had to end it now!
…
Xiao Qiu stared from afar at the bald chicken coming out with Xu Hei on its tail.
Talk about a fairytale, an Awareness demon chasing down a Foundation Establishment demon. [Then again, it seems oddly fitting of Xu Hei.]
Xiao Qiu was ready to join the fight, not just stand watching, having found his target.
Two long-arm large peak Awareness Stage apes circled him, even using a gong magic item to make him dizzy.
Further away, a pack of monkeys kept raining stones, feces, and everything weird, including some foul-smelling liquid to harass him.
“Rotten beasts!” Xiao Qiu raged, receiving a heavy punch to the face for his outburst, breaking his nose.
His fight was in sharp contrast with Xu Hei’s.
One did the chasing while the other suffered a beating.
He recalled the Divine Rousing Pill’s smell. [That thing should drive them all off.]
“Brother monkeys, stop hitting me, please!”
Xiao Qiu fled for his life with little dignity. A stick to his back sent him reeling, with broken bones and heavily wounded.
With no choice, he took all the buns, bananas, and food from his storage bag, throwing them at the pack.
The monkeys ran after the food and fought over it, giving Xiao Qiu a much needed respite.
His relief was short-lived as the two apes stared at his storage bag.
“What are you doing?”
Xiao Qiu shrieked as the two gibbons stretched their long arms and yanked his storage bag.
“Don’t even think about it!”
Xiao Qiu gnashed his teeth as an ape banged the gong and sending him wobbling. The apes kept his mind reeling while making away with his stuff.
The ape flipped his bag.
“No, my storage bag! Give it back!” Xiao Qiu crawled over like mad.
The storage bag spilled all kind of stuff on the ground that the monkeys stole without qualms. A woman’s dress, in particular, was quite eye-catching.
…
Xu Hei intercepted the now bald eagle at the edge of the valley.
There were puppets all around it blocking his escape.
“Smash him!”
Xu Hei ordered the granite puppets to Stone Throw the eagle.
The eagle was surrounded by floating feathers to protect him, making Xu Hei keep his distance.
Boom~
The clamor from all the stones being thrown echoed across the hills and into the skies, as well as the cries of an eagle.
An eagle with no feathers was like a tiger with no fangs, waiting to die.
Xu Hei’s Divine Sense was locked on him, sensing his waning vitality.
The enemy was soon lying on the ground, still.
Xu Hei kept his puppets attacking the eagle, piling stones high on top of it. He also used Earth Spike to skewer him.
Glancing over at Xiao Qiu, he saw him assaulted by monkeys and baffled at the sheer coincidence of both having the same circumstances, albeit with opposite standings.
Xu Hei felt his scales shivering.
He widened and shot back, just in time to miss a bone arrow from running his head through.
The bone arrow turned and kept going after his life.
Xu Hei’s face darkened, his eyes snapping at a white figure far on a mountain.
“It’s that white ape!”
Xu Hei flicked his tail and broke the bone arrow, not without suffering for it. He got thrown off and his old wounds opened, making him bleed from his mouth.
Xu Hei ended up hurt by a peak Awareness demon.
The bone arrow was a magic treasure made from a great demon’s bones capable of unleashing its full might.
It was the only logical explanation for Xu Hei’s wounds.
The old ape’s timing was particularly odd, right as the golden eagle died, thinking Xu Hei would drop his guard.
Anyone else would have their bodies in pieces by now.
“Even demons have shrewd specimens. The old white ape just stared at me last time before leaving. He was up to no good from the start.
“The Golden Plume Thunder Eagle had to be his accomplice.”
Xu Hei was furious.
Open assault paled against the dagger in the shadows.
Xu Hei wouldn’t have been so angry if the ape had joined the fight from the start. He now got a taste of his own medicine.
The white ape was gone as soon as he finished attacking.
He made sure to stay five hundred meters away at all times, the limit of Divine Sense. The lack of scent proved how good he was at hiding.
Xu Hei’s bloodlust ignited. [The ape must die!]
He ate a Qi Recovery Pill, having spent his True Qi against the eagle, and suffered some light wounds. He stashed the puppets and the eagle’s body.
The demon meat was a rare treasure. Along with pills, he’d reach peak Awareness Stage in no time to prepare for Foundation Establishment.
The Golden Plume Thunder Eagle’s feathers and talons were prime ingredients for making magic items. Even its Inner Core had a hint of lightning. The whole body was a fortune.
…
A thousand miles away, deep in the Wicked Mountains, Hei Huang was flying when he facepalmed.
“Damn, I knew I forgot something. I didn’t give Xu Hei his puppets.” Hei Huang landed and frowned in hesitation.
He always kept this matter in mind, even ready to make him a perfect body puppet, yet forgotten in the end.
“Little Xu has no puppets but it shouldn’t matter, right? It should be fine.”
He pondered hard before shaking his head.
“Yeah, let’s just forget it. I’m an honest guy so I’ll just send them over when I finish making it. It shouldn’t take long.”
Hei Huang dug a hole and sat down to refine.
