Chapter 649: The Unbreakable Bond Between A Mother And Son

The air around Solaris City distorted into wild, spatial fractures as if the entire realm were about to be swallowed by a cosmic void.

“What’s happening?!”

“The world is ending!”

Panicked onlookers and reporters began sprinting for their lives as the earth itself groaned under the pressure.

The Battle Angels moved to support Mika, ready to fight alongside their son against whatever this entity truly was.

They didn’t know if they could win.

The Eternal Queen had been terrifying enough the first time, and this version of her seemed somehow different, more powerful, more insidious.

But they would fight. They would always fight for their family!

Then Mika spoke again, his voice carrying a hint of dark amusement.

“Oh, and by the way…I already know you’re not my mother.”

The dark shadow shifted subtly, a faint tremor running through its misty form. It was the most visible reaction it had given the entire time.

“The only reason I went along with your games earlier was because I wanted to learn more about you.”

Mika explained casually.

“You see, certain forces have been interfering in my life since I was little. Now that I finally had a chance to meet one of them directly, I didn’t want to lose the opportunity. So I played along.”

He shook his head in apologetic manner.

“But I apologize—I know for certain that you’re not my mother. My true mother passed away while giving birth to me.”

“Of course, I don’t know much about her, since the women behind me won’t tell me anything…”

He glanced back at the angels with a slight pout.

“…but I know that she’s my one and only mother, and that will never change.”

He tightened his stance, ready for battle.

“So I’m sorry, but you’re not my mother. And whatever you’re trying to do—it ends here.”

The Battle Angels tensed, preparing for the inevitable explosion of rage.

They expected the Eternal Queen to attack, to lash out with the full force of her terrible power.

But instead—

The shadow spoke with such profound sadness like a mother wailing over the loss of her child.

“I’m not your mother…huh?”

“So that’s what you think, my child.”

The voice was self-deprecating, pitiful. Nothing like the arrogant, commanding tone it had used before.

And despite himself, Mika felt something stir in his chest.

“You…You’re just trying to trick me!”

He said, forcing steel into his voice.

“There’s no point in lying anymore. If we’re going to fight, let’s fight! No more games!”

He prepared to charge.

But the shadow didn’t attack.

Instead, it began to grow.

Slowly, it expanded, taking on a more defined shape. And then, to everyone’s surprise, a tall figure materialized, cloaked in shadow, her face hidden behind a dark veil.

“How the world changes.” She figure said softly. “The small shacks of the past become the skyscrapers of today.”

She glanced at the tall buildings.

“The primitive tools of ancient humans become weapons capable of annihilating entire countries.”

She glanced down at the guns the soldiers dropped.

“Even the language we spoke has changed countless times over the years.”

Her voice was gentle, almost wistful.

“Many things change, Mika. They will always change, no matter what. But there is one thing that will never change.”

She looked at him with those terrible, beautiful eyes, and her voice was filled with a love so profound it was almost painful.

“I am your mother. I have been your mother from the very beginning, and I will be your mother until the end of time itself.”

“No matter how many tens of thousands of years have passed since we were separated, no matter how many betrayals we have suffered, we will always be mother and son.”

Mika’s jaw clenched. He didn’t want to believe her, but something in her words resonated deep within him, touching something he hadn’t even known existed.

“You don’t understand anything right now.” She continued. “And I can’t explain everything—the world itself prevents me from doing so.”

“But one day, you will realize the truth. You will understand that it has always been you and me against the world. They are the ones who betrayed us, not the other way around.”

She paused, and for a moment, her composure cracked.

“This side you’re on right now…it has never been the right side. One day, you will see that.”

Her form began to fade, dissolving back into shadow.

“Until then, farewell, my child. I will always be watching over you. And when the time comes, when you finally understand the truth, I will return to you.”

“She smiled one last time.

“Wait!” Mika lunged forward, reaching out to stop her. “Hold on! Don’t go! I—”

But she was already disappearing, her form dissolving into wisps of shadow that scattered on the wind. He grabbed at the empty air where she had been, his fingers closing on nothing.

“Wait!” He called again. “I told you to stop! Mother—”

He froze, shocked at what he had just said.

‘Mother.’

It had felt…natural. Right.

But it was too late.

The shadow dissipated, fading into nothingness.

But just before it vanished completely, Mika felt something wrap around him—gentle, warm, like an embrace. And then a kiss, feather-light, pressed against his forehead.

“I love you, my child. No matter how many years pass, I will always love you.”

And then she was gone.

Mika stood there, reaching for empty air, feeling a strange and terrible ache in his heart. He had been ready to face the most powerful adversary of his life.

But instead she had simply disappeared, leaving behind words that had shaken something fundamental within him.

He knew she wasn’t his mother.

So why did he feel so heartbroken?

The Eternal Queen was gone. They had survived. Their son had come back to them.

But then, a chill ran down their spines.

A voice whispered directly in her ear, so close they could feel the breath on their skin.

“You really think you managed to defeat me? How ridiculous.”

They tensed, their blood running cold.

“Don’t worry.” The voice continued, chuckling softly. “I’m not going to do anything. Eventually, my son will take back everything that was stolen from him. I’ll leave it all up to him.”

“But you need to understand something.”

The voice grew colder, more dangerous.

“You never defeated me. Not truly. The only reason I lost was because of my son—for his sake alone. I gave my life for him, and only for him. So don’t you ever think that you managed to bring down the Queen of this world.”

The words were spoken with such haughty arrogance, such absolute certainty, that the Battle Angels felt their blood run cold.

Yelena whirled around, shouting into the empty air.

“W-What do you mean? What do you mean by that!? We defeated you—we know we did!”

But the voice merely chuckled once more before fading away entirely.

And no matter how much the Battle Angels called out, demanding answers, the Eternal Queen remained silent.

They were baffled…and deeply disturbed.

In the past, they would have done anything to make her go away. But now they wanted her back, if only to explain what she had meant.

Because one thing was certain: the Eternal Queen was many things, but she was not a liar. She had never lied to them, not once, in all their battles against her.

So why would she lie now?

And if she wasn’t lying…

Then what did that mean?

What had really happened in that final battle, all those years ago?

A cold sense of dread settled over the Battle Angels, deeper and more terrifying than anything they had felt before.

They had won the war.

Or so they had believed.

But now, for the first time, they began to wonder if their greatest victory had been nothing more than a carefully crafted deception designed to serve a purpose they couldn’t begin to understand.
