Chapter 3789: The Four Commands Sword Sect
Chapter 3789: The Four Commands Sword Sect
Si Jiushi did not disturb Lu Yin, believing that this Seventh Bro might already be approaching that level.
“Dan Jin... does she also have the potential to become an Immortal?” Lu Yin asked.
Si Jiushi did not quite understand the question. “If she was able to become a Lesser Sancte, she should, right?”
Lu Yin looked back at the Brocade Clan’s forest. Can she really?
Yue Ya had once mentioned that Dan Jin could never become an Immortal, but that contradicted everything that Si Jiushi had just said.
There was still much that Lu Yin needed to learn about the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.
For the moment...
Boom!
A deafening crash shook everything as a massive palm strike fell from the sky. It slammed into the Brocade Clan’s forest and shattered their transparent barrier.
Inside the carriage, Si Jiushi’s jaw dropped. He stared, dumbfounded.
The middle-aged driver was just as stunned.
The Brocade Clan might be just one of the Spirit Alliance’s thirteen clans, but they were still not a group to be trifled with. In particular, their protective shield was something that most Dukkhans could not break. Despite that, had Seventh Bro really shattered it with a single attack? Was this some sort of joke?
“Let’s go,” Lu Yin calmly stated.
The driver did not dare to delay, and he quickly redirected the carriage towards the Four Commands Sword Sect.
Within the Brocade Clan’s forest, people fled in panic. They were creatures with long ears, and they carried bows and arrows as they moved through the woodland as easily as most people would over level terrain. Whereas most cultivators traveled through the void, these people seemed to travel through plant life itself.
“What happened?”
“Elder, that was the Five-Palm Art!”
“Someone from the Five-Palm Sect? Why would they attack us? We’ve always kept to ourselves.
“Where’s the enemy? Where did they go?”
“It appears that they didn’t even enter. They merely smashed our defenses apart.”
“Who...?”
Far away, the carriage had already vanished.
Inside it, Lu Yin met Si Jiushi’s blank stare. “See? It’s simple. The White Jade Clan wanted me to direct my anger to the War Clan, so I dragged the Brocade Clan into the mess. Leave it to them to investigate. Regardless of their own thoughts, the trail will still lead back to the White Jade Clan.”
Si Jiushi muttered, “But... you used the Five-Palm Art.”
“Exactly. Without that, how else would the Brocade Clan know that I attacked? People undoubtedly saw this carriage, so they’ll eventually trace the matter back to the White Jade Clan.”
“All that just to drag the Brocade Clan in and pin the blame on my Five-Palm Sect?”
“Don’t worry about it. It’s a minor issue. All we did was smash a barrier.”
Si Jiushi felt powerless. That’s all?
Even if the Five-Palm Sect was not afraid of the Spirit Alliance, there was no need to make even more enemies; their list was already long enough as it was. The Spirit Alliance has never been on the Five Palm Sect’s radar, but now... Ah...
This man’s thought pattern is absolutely insane!
No, as soon as they arrived at the Four Commands Sword Sect, Si Jiushi needed to run. He could not remain entangled with this man. On top of that, he needed to warn his master. If this Seventh Bro kept causing people to blame the Five-Palm Sect, there was no telling what sort of crises they would soon face.
Also, how in the world does he even know the Five-Palm Art?
Several days later, two people arrived outside the Brocade Clan’s territory, and they stared at each other in shock. “How could this happen? Why did that man from the Five-Palm Sect attack the Brocade Clan?”
“I have no idea. Even if he ignored the War Clan, what does the Brocade Clan have to do with anything?”
“They’ll definitely investigate this assault, and there’s no way to hide what happened in Misty Steps City. Sooner or later, they’ll trace this back to us. This is a problem.”
“What I can’t figure out is why anyone from the Five-Palm Sect would attack the Brocade Clan? Even if he realized that it was our people posing as members of the War Clan, there’s absolutely no connection to the Brocade Clan. This isn’t how the Five-Palm Sect does things.”
“There’s a message from the clan... We need to hurry back! The Brocade Clan is questioning the War Clan, and blame will soon be pinned on us. I’m also confused. We chose those hot-headed idiots from the Five-Palm Sect because they’d charge the War Clan without asking any questions. However, they actually ignored the War Clan and even attacked the Brocade Clan. We need to go back. No matter what, what happened in the Misty Steps City can never be exposed.”
“What rotten luck! The Five-Palm Sect is nothing like what the rumors claim.”
...
Traveling from the lake at the bottom of the waterfall to the Four Commands Sword Sect took exactly one month with the carriage.
When Si Jiushi saw the sword intent rising high into the distant sky, he let out a breath. “Seventh Bro, we’ve arrived at the Four Commands Sword Sect.”
Lu Yin stepped out of the carriage and peered into the distance.
The Four Commands Sword Sect occupied a single region of land that was divided into four directions of sword intent. Four completely unique currents of sword intent shot into the sky, reaching so high that they seemed to pierce into outer space and continue on towards the crown of the Mother Tree.
Compared to the Brocade Clan’s humble territory, the Four Commands Sword Sect was far more ostentatious.
Throughout the journey, the carriage had flown high above countless mountains, rivers, cities, and clans, but not a single one dared to maintain a barrier that rose to encompass both the earth and the sky. Only the Four Commands Sword Sect was so bold.
Within the Temporal Heavens, there were only a few true powers, but any organization worthy of being recognized as such was truly formidable.
The Four Commands Sword Sect was one of those rare sects.
As Si Jiushi had phrased it: without the Four Commands Grand Swordmaster, the sect was roughly equal to the Ruler Garden. However, once a Sword Master appeared in the sect, it became something entirely different. The Four Commands Grand Swordmaster was capable of forcing even the Ruler Garden to bow its head.
While swords were considered a gentleman’s weapon, they were still instruments of slaughter.
There was a steady stream of people entering the region, many of whom were dignitaries of unfathomable strength.
“Seventh Bro, well... we’re here. The sect’s separated in four directions, with the Sword Altar sitting at the center. I won’t go in, as I’ve got something to handle first,” Si Jiushi said.
Lu Yin glanced over. “Trying to avoid me?”
Si Jiushi gave an embarrassed laugh. “How could I? I really have some matters to attend to. One of my junior brothers stirred up a bit of trouble, and Master ordered me to fix it.”
Lu Yin nodded. “Fine, I won’t force you. Since you gave me a ride, take this.”
He tossed a wireless jincan over to Si Jiushi, to the fat man’s complete bewilderment.
Lu Yin quickly explained how to use the tool. “If you run into trouble, you can ask me for help, though I may not be available.”
Startled by the offer of help, Si Jiushi carefully and solemnly put the wireless jincan away before bowing to Lu Yin. “Many thanks, Seventh Bro.”
There were far too many cruel people in the world of cultivators. Si Jiushi had already noticed that Lu Yin was from another megaverse, so it would not have been surprising for him to simply kill the fat man. Instead, Lu Yin was not only sparing the man’s life, but also offering a promise of assistance. This greatly exceeded Si Jiushi’s expectations.
He had been prepared to fight for his very life, and he had even prepared a signal that would alert his Five-Palm Sect, but it seemed there was no need for those precautions.
Wait, what about everything he framed my Five-Palm Sect for?
Lu Yin left. In the past, he would have never given away a wireless jincan for something as simple as a ride. Even if he had created a bit of trouble for the Five-Palm Sect, it was nothing too terrible.
However, after his encounter with Greater Sancte Green Lotus, Lu Yin’s perspective had changed.
Greater Sancte Green Lotus valued the concept of fate, so Lu Yin would as well, even if he did not know what sort of benefit there might be. He would act first and find out later.
It was like taking an exam: if a person learned the answers to questions in advance, it was possible to memorize things without even knowing the test or the questions. The answer would still be right.
The moment anyone set foot in the Four Commands Sword Sect, they would start to feel a faint sword intent prickling at their skin. However, the stronger the person, the clearer the sensation.
Lu Yin was reminded of the Sword Sect, as he had felt something similar when he had first visited that place.
Sword intent surged up from underground, and Lu Yin felt as though he was treading atop a mountain of blades.
He looked up at the sky. The four streams of sword intent were neither weak nor particularly strong. A turn of his hand could erase all four. Still, he was curious about what sort of power the Four Commands Grand Swordmaster might possess after fusing those four sword intents.
Next, he simply needed to meet the woman who had set this task for him.
Lu Yin already knew that the woman was Lu Siyu, the daughter of the East Command’s master.
Lu Yin walked toward the East Command’s headquarters. As he strolled along, a woman in the headquarters, chin in hand, absent-mindedly gazed up at the sky. Bright, lively eyes sparkled above a face that was half-veiled by a bit of lavender gauze. No one knew what the woman was thinking.
The East Command was bustling at this moment. While their current master was the weakest of the four sword masters and had no hope of becoming the Four Commands Grand Swordmaster, their direction still received far more visitors than the much more powerful North Command. It was all because of Lu Siyu.
She was at a marriageable age, and as a result, she was still the focus of countless eager eyes.
Her status and beauty were only part of her appeal. Additionally, Lu Siyu was one of Greater Sancte Green Lotus’s nominal disciples, which carried extraordinary prestige throughout the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. It was for that reason that even the North Command’s master was always polite and respectful to his eastern counterpart.
Even if their connection to Greater Sancte Green Lotus was ignored, each of the Seven Fairies possessed a formidable background. Together, they were likely capable of shaking the entire megaverse.
Outsiders gossiped that, while the East Command’s master might be relatively untalented for the sword, he was almost peerless when it came to producing daughters.
The man himself felt no shame. On the contrary, he was quite proud of the fact. “If you’re so capable, try to have such a wonderful daughter yourself!”
His daughter was a peerless beauty, naturally spirited and cheerful, and also blessed with incredible luck and a kind heart. Even so, her countless admirers had all failed to ensnare her.
It was widely believed that the North Command’s master was most likely to become the Four Commands Grand Swordmaster, whereas the East Command’s master was most likely to become a father-in-law.
“Ha-ha-ha! My precious daughter, look at what a fine treasure your father has received! Hahaha!”
In her room, Lu Siyu rolled her eyes. She felt utterly helpless.
A middle-aged man entered the woman’s courtyard, carrying a birdcage in his left hand while his right hand waved about, causing the ring on a finger to glitter brightly in the sun. He beamed in excitement. “Long ago, this belonged to the famous prodigy Yun Yi. When Yun Yi and ...”
Bang!
The door slammed shut.
The man dropped his hand. As he remained standing outside the door, he worriedly asked, “My precious daughter, what’s wrong? Who’s upset you? Tell your father, and I’ll make it right.”
“Old Lu, have you no shame at all? Do you not understand why people keep giving you gifts?” Lu Siyu snapped from inside her room.
He responded with a smug chuckle. “Of course I know! It’s all because of you, my precious girl! Everyone wants to propose. Pah! They think that they can win us over with such trifles? Don’t worry, your father will send every suitor you don’t like packing.
“On the other hand, if my precious daughter does like one, your father will drag him here by the collar, hahaha!”
Lu Siyu was left completely speechless as she leaned against the windowsill.
The man walked over to the window, beaming brightly. “You’re not angry anymore? Come on, take a look at this ring! This is-”
Lu Siyu blinked her lovely eyes at the man. “Old Lu- Father- Lord Lu Sizhan, master of the East Command.”
The middle-aged man’s face grew solemn. “You’re being serious? Alright, tell me. I’m listening.”
“How long before the competition for the Four Commands Grand Swordmaster starts?”
“Seven days.”
“Are you confident?”
“Not in the least.”
“And yet you’re still in the mood to fool around?” Lu Siyu’s eyes flashed from the ring on the man’s finger to the birdcage in his other hand. “Even Titi looks down on you.”
Titi was the bird’s name.
