Chapter 3790: A Crippled Leg

Chapter 3790: A Crippled Leg

The middle-aged man sighed as he leaned against the wall. “Daughter, you are already aware that your father has never had any sort of grand ambitions. How many times did your grandfather beat me while he was still alive? Even so, I always told him the same thing:

“Life is short, and constantly fighting is simply exhausting. We were born into the world to enjoy life.

“Yes, there are a few people who look down on your father, but so what? I have you! Hahaha! Who among them can compare to you?”

Lu Siyu let out a deep sigh and looked up at the sky. She muttered, “But I wish I had a father who was a great hero.”

The middle-aged man patted Lu Siyu’s head. “You silly girl. Sometimes you act too distant with your own father. We’re family, and what’s mine is yours. If your wish doesn’t come true, but mine does, isn’t it the same?”

“What wish, Father?” Lu Siyu asked curiously. She had never before heard her father speak of any wish.

The man’s expression grew incredibly solemn. “Your father’s wish is... to have a daughter who brings in wealth and treasure!”

With that, he ran off, leaving behind a stunned Lu Siyu.

She angrily shouted after him, “You! You’re too much, Old Lu!”

“Hahahaha...”

As the laughter faded away, Lu Siyu shook her head, though she was also unable to restrain a smile.

Maidservants entered the room, all of them smiling. “Young Mistress, the master is like a mischievous child, but things are good this way. Look at the West Command’s master, Lu Bi. He’s always scowling, and his daughter is completely miserable. She’s only ever smiled a few times in her entire life.”

“Yes, exactly,” another maid chimed in, “The son of the North Command’s master drowns his sorrows in wine every day. I hear that there’s never a day that he isn’t scolded.”

“The master has never put any pressure on you, Young Mistress. Even whom you marry has always been left as your choice. That was promised the day you were born, and it has nothing to do with the fact that you later became Greater Sancte Green Lotus’s nominal disciple.”

Lu Siyu sighed again and set her chin back in her hand. “I know that my father treats me well, but I’m currently the only one in the East Command, and I’m not even talented at the sword. I’m afraid that, eventually, the East Command will simply cease to exist, and I’ll have let my father down.”

“Then let him have another child.”

Lu Siyu shook her head. “I told Father long ago that I want a younger brother, but he-”

The woman’s expression abruptly changed. “Who’s there?”

The two maids quickly moved to protect Lu Siyu, warily scanning the area. Their eyes quickly locked onto a corner of the courtyard. Someone was there.

Lu Siyu looked over and let out a sigh of relief. “Oh, it’s you. I thought that you wouldn’t have the courage to show up.”

Of course, Lu Yin was the man in the courtyard. After entering the Four Commands Sword Sect, he had quickly located the East Command and then found Lu Siyu.

“How did you get past everyone to reach this place?” Lu Siyu asked, staring intensely at Lu Yin.

Even if the East Command was not as powerful as the other three directions, it still boasted a number of powerful experts. Not even an Ortuser could sneak in undetected. Lu Siyu’s quarters were the most carefully protected place in the entire East Command. Her quarters were even more secure than Sect Master Lu Sizhan’s.

Lu Yin looked around. “Was it supposed to be hard?”

“Young Mistress, who is this?” one of the maids asked.

Lu Siyu dismissed the maids with the wave of a hand. “You may leave. He won’t harm me.”

“But-”

“It’s fine. You don’t need to worry.”

The two maids exchanged glances, and the wariness vanished from their eyes, replaced by curiosity and speculation. Could this be the young mistress’s...?

No, they had to tell the master immediately. He would be very concerned.

The maids both quickly left the room.

At that moment, Lu Siyu’s entire demeanor transformed. Her voice grew cold and took on a mocking tone. “Little thief, I was right about you. You’re even able to sneak into my East Command so easily. You really must have some skill to have snuck into the Sea of Karma back then. You still want to claim that you weren’t deliberately peeping?”

Lu Yin pursed his lips. “Since I’ve already agreed to complete your tasks, that matter should already be considered settled. Tell whoever you want, I don’t care. It’s you Seven Fairies whose reputation will suffer.”

Lu Siyu snorted as she glared at Lu Yin. “I’m going to ask you again. Just who was it that you touched that day?”

It was an awkward question, and Lu Yin immediately remembered what he had felt with his hand. “I don’t know.”

“It sounded like Third Sister’s scream,” Lu Siyu commented. Suddenly, her smile grew mischievous. “How did it feel? Was it soft?”

“Enough about that. Let’s not discuss it. I’m here to help your East Command take the position of the Four Commands Grand Swordmaster. That man who was just here, is that your father? No wonder this is your task. This is going to be quite difficult,” Lu Yin said.

Hearing the comment, Lu Siyu suddenly looked helpless. She let out a heavy sigh, and her expression grew melancholic.

Lu Yin was puzzled by the reaction. “Is having your father become the Four Commands Grand Swordmaster really that important to you?”

Lu Siyu’s eye twitched. “Are you scared? Just admit it if you can’t do it. Not that I ever had much hope in you anyway.”

“It’s actually quite simple to have your father become the Four Commands Grand Swordmaster,” Lu Yin replied.

Lu Siyu was surprised. “Simple?”

Lu Yin nodded, which prompted a sneer from Lu Siyu. “Do you even know how strong the other three sect masters are?”

“I don’t need to know,” Lu Yin calmly replied. He turned to look out at the courtyard. “If I break their legs, they naturally won’t be able to compete with your father.”

Lu Siyu blinked and stared at Lu Yin in a daze. “Do you even hear what you're saying?”

“Every word,” he answered with no hesitation.

“Do you even know how strong the other three sect masters are?”

“Doesn’t matter.”

“You-” Lu Siyu was momentarily left speechless. Lu Yin’s arrogance was overwhelming. He acted as though he already considered himself a Greater Sancte.

However, while Lu Yin was certainly arrogant, he had earned his confidence.

He might not be able to defeat an Immortal, but he could absolutely crush anyone beneath that realm.

Not even Yue Ya or the High Seraph were Lu Yin’s match, let alone experts who were unable to even compare to the Lesser Sancte. At best, these sect masters were Dukkhans, but none of them were peak Dukkhans. Only by combining the Four Commands Sword Sect’s different sword intents could they become a peak Dukkhan. That was the level of the Four Commands Grand Swordmaster.

Lu Yin gave Lu Siyu a serious look. “What do you think of this method? If you approve, I’ll go break their legs.”

Lu Siyu bared her teeth. She wanted to throw her shoe at this man’s face. “Go ahead, if you’ve got the guts. If you die, all the better! Then my sisters won’t have to be annoyed by you anymore.”

“Alright.” Lu Yin left. He had been completely serious. It was not even necessary to break the three men’s legs; just a hidden injury would be enough to cripple them.

Without going that far, he really had no idea how to help Lu Sizhan win.

It was clear that the man had no ambition. Such an easygoing person could not be persuaded with words. Crippling the competition was the fastest method that Lu Yin could think of.

Lu Siyu did not believe for a second that Lu Yin could actually pull it off. In her mind, he was nothing more than an arrogant braggart who believed that the world was his for the taking after sneaking into the Sea of Karma and earning a “fated” connection with their master. As soon as the man suffered a setback, he would see just how powerful the Four Commands Sword Sect really was.

It was still a pity; she had been clinging to a tiny shred of hope.

It looks like Master misjudged this one.

Right then, Lu Sizhan burst into the room, and he stared at a corner. There was no one there, so his eyes swept the room, bulging from his head.

Seeing such behavior from her father left Lu Siyu speechless. “Old Lu, what are you doing?”

Lu Sizhan looked confused. “Where is he? Did you finish your little tryst so quickly?”

“You! What nonsense are you spouting now?” Lu Siyu fumed.

Lu Sizhan barked an awkward laugh, but was still curious. “Girl, where’d that boy go? Don’t hide things from your father. I have nothing against you two being together. I can accept his background, no matter where he’s from.”

“He’s gone.”

“Gone? How rude! He didn’t even bring a gift for his future father-in-law. Fine! Just wait and see how difficult I’ll make things for him!”

Lu Siyu pressed a hand to her forehead. She hated the idea of explaining things to her father, but if she refused, the old man would hound her for years. “It isn’t like that. He was sent here by Master to pass a trial...”

She proceeded to explain how each of the Seven Fairies were to give the man a task, and that if he completed all of their tasks, he would be accepted as one of Greater Sancte Green Lotus formal disciples.

The incident in the Lotus Pond was omitted, as Lu Suyi was certain that her father would end up stalking Lu Yin if he learned of what had happened.

A short time later, Lu Sizhan left the courtyard, his expression grave.

Anyone who could obtain a fated connection from the Greater Sancte Green Lotus, as well as freely enter the East Command without being noticed, could not be some weakling. This man had to at least be a Dukkhan, and he must have cultivated his power himself. How could anyone who had accepted a Seed Transfusion catch the eye of a Greater Sancte?

Just how impressive did a man need to be to accomplish that? Even so, the man still needed to overcome the Seven Fairies’ trial. It was clear that this was not someone trying to become a nominal disciple like the Seven Fairies, but rather a true disciple.

Shaking his head, Lu Sizhan felt that his daughter was too foolish, and he also did not know what to do. It was impossible for Lu Sizhan to become the Four Commands Grand Swordmaster. The fact that the young man had been given a challenge by the Greater Sancte indicated that the man was greatly favored, and yet Lu Sizhan’s daughter had spoiled things. Who could say what would happen next?

Her actions would both displease Greater Sancte Green Lotus and offend the talented young man.

Life would no longer be peaceful.

Forget it. What's done is done. Too much thinking is pointless.

Lu Sizhan kept his thoughts from his daughter. He wanted her to be safe and happy. No matter what burden there might be, her father would be the one to bear it.

He could not help but wonder what price his East Command would have to pay to keep the young man from holding a grudge against them.

Just thinking about it gave Lu Sizhan a headache.

At this moment, Lu Yin had already left the East Command and was heading for the strongest of the four directions: the North Command.

It was undoubtedly the strongest of the four directions. But even without the northern sect master, Lu Feichen, the East Command would still never be able to win.

The Four Commands Sword Sect had become quite lively. There were only seven more days to go before the competition to determine the Four Commands Grand Swordmaster began.

Countless cultivators flocked into the sect from all directions, and many of the most powerful organizations sent gifts. Everyone was waiting for the new Grand Swordmaster to be born.

A Four Commands Sword Sect with a Grand Swordmaster was different from most sects.

Any organization in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse that was regarded as a power possessed impressive strength, and when the Four Commands Sword Sect had a Grand Swordmaster, they stood among the very best, second to none.

The following day, Lu Yin arrived at the North Command, where he overheard countless rumors about its master, Lu Feichen.

As a Dukkhan, Lu Feichen was famous for his Beheading Star sword intent, which was considered practically peerless. It easily ranked among the top ten sword techniques in the entire Nine Odysseys Megaverse. He was the living emblem of the Four Commands Sword Sect; even without the Sword Head title, his mere presence kept the region above disdain.

Lu Yin walked toward the North Command, step by step while observing the sword intent in the sky above. The sword intent was quite lively. Beheading Star? No, there’s a second technique as well.

Lu Yin could sense that the hidden move was Lu Feichen’s true trump card.

“The legends say that Sect Master Lu Feichen comprehended his sword intent from the Seventh Night Pillar.”

“That’s not a legend! Many swordsmen have visited the Seventh Night Pillar. It’s considered a holy land for the sword. Every generation’s Four Commands Grand Swordmaster has left a technique there. After all, the first sect master of the Four Commands Sword Sect obtained his power from that Odyssey. Every sect master since has gone back to comprehend the sword. Even the most famous swordsman, the Fifth Night Pillar’s Azuresword Sovereign, learned the sword at the Seventh Night Pillar.”

“I’ve also visited that Night Pillar, but I felt nothing at all.”

“Most people can’t comprehend anything. If they can, they’d already be famous across the megaverse.”

“I heard that even Deathmound’s fourth Peak Lord also went once...”
