Chapter 30 – Influence of the Castle
The fairies boarded the luxury liner, and as expected, there was a great deal of commotion. I literally managed to calm things down with candy and whips, but I’m worried about what will happen once they get to Dark Elf Island. Maybe they’ll just let loose and annoy all kinds of people…
“I’m coming with you!”
“I’m coming!”
“Take me with you!”
“No way!”
We arrived near the city of Cagliari, where the Castle is docked, so I decided to change to the Lutto from the inconspicuous outer sea to the Castle… but the fairies found me and clung to me, demanding that I take them with me.
“Why?”
“I want to go!”
“So stingy!”
“Even if the human supremacists hadn’t come here, there’s no way I can take you to a place where there are many humans!”
I shouted my refusal clearly and loudly to the fairies.
During the voyage, I understood.
If you are deceived by the appearance of these cute fairies and say vague words, not only will they not understand you, but they will interpret your words in a convenient way, and you will suffer terrible consequences…
Well, I can’t take them, even if there is no danger before.
The Castle is full of powerful and rich people, and I can’t let the devil loose in such a place. It would lead to liability problems.
“Hey, don’t sneak under my clothes. Even if you try to sneak in, you’ll never get in because I won’t give you permission to come aboard, and if you stay in the wrong place, you’ll get caught between the barrier and me, and you’ll die.”
Oh, the fairies moved away quickly. It seems they don’t want to be crushed by the barriers.
Perhaps realizing that I would not change my mind, the fairies began to beg the women around me. The fact that they understand that if the women say yes, I can’t refuse them is a bad thing.
But to no avail. The women are quite nice to the fairies, but as expected, they understand what will happen if we take them to the Castle.
Even Claretta-san, who is the sweetest to the fairies, is clearly refusing with a troubled look on her face, so I’m sure they’ll give up sooner or later.
It will probably take some time for the fairies to give up, so I should check if Bella-san and the others who are leaving the Chateau today have forgotten anything.
Last night, I sent Ines to Bella-san’s room so they could say goodbye for a while. I heard that they had a good time drinking alcohol and making a lot of noise, so there is a good chance that she might have been careless.
“Everyone. We are about to leave, but have you forgotten anything?”
“Oh, Wataru-san. I forgot something…”
Bella-san looked worried.
“Is something wrong? There’s still time before we leave, so is it okay if you go back to get it?”
“No, it’s something else. I didn’t forget anything, but I have the feeling that there are a lot of things I forgot to buy…”
“You too, Aunt Bella? Me too! I know they have a shop on the new ship, but the products here are great, and I’m not sure if I should buy them or go over there!”
Before I could respond to Bella-san’s words, Flora-san burst in. And Bella-san strongly agreed with Flora-san’s words.
I see; the reason for the desperate look on her face was the selection of products.
“I don’t know when I’ll have the next opportunity to board the Chateau, so I think it’s better to concentrate on shopping here, but… it’s also hard not to be able to buy things immediately when I find something I want over there.”
“Yes. Aunt Bella is right. Ines told me that there is a different cosmetics store than the one on this ship. She said it’s also different from the one on the Chris, and I don’t know what to do.”
Oh, no. Bella-san and Flora-san’s problem cannot be solved without comparing each store.
Let them do what they want, and when it’s time to go, let’s force them to go.
“Carlo-san and Dario-kun, did you forget something?”
“Haha… it’s okay even if I forgot something.”
“Yes, I’m fine. I’m more nervous about the new job. My mother and Flora seem different, though…”
Both of them seemed a little taken aback by Bella-san and Flora-san’s energy.
“Well, I don’t think the job will be much different from the one at the Chateau, so there’s no need to be nervous.”
To ensure that they would not have any problems with their work on the Castle, Bella-san and Flora-san were also given a variety of work experience on the Chateau through staff appointments.
It’s not the same job description because there are so many customers, but it’s definitely an extension of the job, so it won’t interfere with their work.
The training is perfect, so they can be treated more immediately.
Bella-san wants to be a beauty therapist, and Flora-san wants to be a shop clerk, but that’s probably unlikely.
Although we are gradually increasing the number of employees, we still do not have enough people. In particular, there are not enough executive candidates at all, so I think they will be sent there.
In particular, Flora-san was a receptionist at the Adventurers’ Guild, and she will at least be trained as an executive candidate under one of Camille-san, Mauro-san, or Donatella-san.
I have a feeling that Dario-kun will follow the same path.
Come to think of it, I was originally thinking of rotating the luxury liner every few months.
I’ve been putting it off because of the work involved in switching, but maybe it’s time to switch with the Chris?
…I feel like playing with the Castle for the first time in a while, but I just bought the Chateau and haven’t fully enjoyed it yet, so I’ll put it off for a while.
“Stingy.” “Boo, boo.” “You’ll regret this!”
Whoa, it looks like the fairies gave up and flew away, leaving a few words of farewell.
Looking at the fairies, I can’t help but notice how wonderful Rimu is and how obedient Pent is. Well, since Pent’s heart was broken in the beginning, I don’t think he’s that obedient…
If we take it easy, the fairies will probably come back, so let’s go while we can.
Waving to the dark elves who came to see us off, I urge Bella-san and Flora-san to board the Lutto.
I was a bit tired before we left…
***
“The atmosphere is different just because there are so many people. Everyone is dressed up, and there are so many Saporabis, it looks like a lot of fun.”
Flora-san, who boarded the Castle, looked around the busy halls and commented happily on the ship.
It is true that this is a more appropriate shape for a luxury liner.
There were dark elves and fairies on our boat trip so far, but since they were all there for the purpose of migration, they didn’t dress up and socialize.
“Master. Camille and the others are here.”
Just as Ines said, Camille-san and Mauro-san came toward us, each with an exclusive Saporabi.
I don’t know if it’s because they are representatives of the ship or because they have their own exclusive Saporabi, but they are attracting quite a bit of attention from the surrounding guests.
I appreciate the fact that they’re here to greet us, but isn’t it a little too conspicuous?
Hmm, Camille-san and the others stopped in the middle of the hall.
I guess it was only natural since they were so conspicuous, but the customers in the hall started to gather around Camille-san. I feel like there are a lot of people who look like merchants… What’s the situation?
“Wataru-san, over here.”
“Huh? …Donatella-san?”
For some reason, Donatella-san stealthily approached me from the shadows of the hallway.
It was not the type of behavior that would suit Donatella-san, a serious and beautiful Onee-san type, but she was waving at me to come over, so I decided to go ahead.
“Wataru-san, it’s been a long time.”
“Oh yes, it has been a long time. For some reason, I can’t quite grasp the situation. Is something wrong?”
Following Donatella-san, I passed through the staff hallway and was led to the staff room. The answer was very different from before.
“It’s been like this for a long time, but lately, we’ve been getting more requests from merchants. If Wataru-san’s presence was discovered there, it would cause a commotion, so I showed you here while Camille was getting attention.”
“More requests from merchants? Ah, they want to do business with us.”
When I listened to Donatella-san’s story in detail, it seemed that there was quite a commotion.
Originally, rumors of the Castle had spread throughout the continent, but Camille-san and the others were selective in their customers.
The rumors and the products of the Castle that flowed from those selected customers caused other upper-class people to get on board.
The other upper-class people want tickets and goods, but they can’t do anything reckless because of the backing of the mage and the crown prince.
But they still want goods and to experience the luxury liner they have heard so much about.
So they turn to the merchants who have been to the Castle before.
The upper class is asking them to do whatever they want.
The current situation is that these merchants are desperately trying to deal with the unreasonable demands.
Of course, if I, who is closely related to the mage or is considered to be the mage himself, were to appear in such a situation, there would be an uproar. It would be called an easy hunt.
“I understand the situation, but what are you going to do?”
Should we move the Castle temporarily to calm the situation?
The Castle will not be deterred by an attack, but I don’t want to cause trouble for the city of Cagliari, which is under reconstruction.
“Mauro-san is standing around happily, so there is no need to worry. The only reason I showed you this way is to evacuate Wataru-san and the others here.”
…I could easily imagine Mauro-san selling his favors to the merchants while he was still in a calm and collected mood.
If it’s really bad, he’ll report it to me, and I’ll just warn him not to do anything nefarious and leave him to his day job.
Then, all that was left was to introduce Bella-san and the others to Camille-san and the others, and that would be it.
I thought about looking around the Castle and also visiting the orphanage in town, but considering the risk of being crowded out by the merchants, it would be better to leave without doing anything unnecessary.
I don’t want to get into trouble in the Castle, although it looks like it will be difficult on the Dark Elf Island.
It will be a while before I can meet up with Camille-san and the others, so let’s hear about the situation at the orphanage and the mental institution’s progress.
