Chapter 19 – Throwing Away Carelessly
We reached a water source halfway under the royal palace and began searching for the core in the Japanese-style boat, despite the resistance of the water magical creature. As we searched, dodging attacks that grew stronger the deeper we went, we finally found the core, which looked like a mirror ball. When we attacked it, it was defended by a magic barrier, and with a powerful counterattack, we were launched high into the sky.
Launched high into the sky, we clung to the hull of the ship and enjoyed the feeling of floating. Falling from a considerable height, last time it was on the sand, but this time it was on a Japanese-style boat.
I was worried about whether we would be able to withstand the impact, but Alessia-san was giving us instructions, so I was sure we would be fine.
If it looked bad, I would consider summoning a luxury liner and jumping into its magic circle, but I would prefer not to destroy the ancient cityscape if possible.
Well, our actions have smashed through several ceilings of the royal palace.
“Oh, we’re getting further away from the royal palace. Marina, I want to go back through the hole I came out of, can’t you ask Fuu-chan to help me?”
“Impossible. As expected, she can’t control it that much.”
I hear Alessia-san saying something absurd to Marina-san. Do you want to go back through the hole in the palace?
Well, it would be more efficient to return to the semi-underground reservoir to deal with the core. As for me, I’d rather not because I feel like going back into the belly of a monster, but a first-class adventurer is a different story.
And from the water magic creature’s point of view, it wants to keep the dangerous us away from it, so it throws us far away. If it can’t kill us, it will throw us away. The water magic creature must be pretty smart. Throwing us away is pretty annoying, though.
“It can’t be helped. We’ll take care of the impact of the fall, so please help us control it so that it avoids the building and falls onto the sand.”
“Okay. Fuu-chan, I’m counting on you.”
Falling into a building. Even though the building is old, it still retains its shape, so it is harder than sand. How can you make such a judgment while falling?
The speed of the fall doesn’t change, but I can see the hull moving sideways due to Fuu-chan’s wind magic.
“Now!”
At Alessia-san’s signal, everyone except me launches a kind of attack from the edge of the ship toward the ground.
The ground attack causes a strong dust storm, and at the same time, the hull is subjected to G-forces. I see; the attack on the ground caused an explosion and slowed the speed of the fall.
While I was impressed, I was embraced from both sides. It seems that Ines and Felicia are trying to protect me.
I am usually very happy with their feelings. While I am inwardly thrilled, the boat falls onto the sand, and my body is subjected to a strong load. It hurts pretty bad.
Even though the speed was slowed down by the blast, it seems that it was indeed impossible to reduce the damage from the fall to zero.
The impact stopped my breathing, and I held back the pain as I hugged Rimu. I was in this state after leveling up, so if I hadn’t leveled up, I think I would have been hurt pretty badly.
“Uh, everyone, are you okay?”
I finally calmed down and made sure that everyone was okay. Since Rimu and I were safe. There was no reason for Alessia-san and the others, Ines and Felicia, not to be safe.
As expected, they were not badly injured, and with a frown on their faces, they checked their body movements. Dorothea-san and Marina-san were more worried about Beni-chan and Fuu-chan than themselves, which made me smile and sympathize with them.
“Ah, everyone seems to be okay. But I was a bit surprised. Is Wataru okay?”
Alessia-san answered my question, but I was surprised that she was only a little surprised after being thrown so high into the sky.
“I felt the impact all over my body, and it kind of hurt. I probably wasn’t injured.”
“I’ll take care of you just in case.”
Claretta-san moved to my side and used some kind of magic, and my body was enveloped in something warm.
Could it be healing magic? It was like being soaked in a hot spring, or more than that, like being healed from the inside out.
Come to think of it, thanks to the Ship Summoning, I wasn’t even injured. I am very grateful for the Ship Summoning, but I am a little disappointed to think that I have never experienced this feeling before.
Hmm? Rimu is sitting in front of the magic circle that Claretta-san drew with great interest. Could it be that Rimu wants to learn healing magic?
Hmm, Rimu is an angel, so I guess he can learn the normal healing system as well. Isn’t Rimu invincible because he’s cute and can both attack and heal? Invincible and cute.
“Everyone, hold on to the hull!”
While my body was being healed by Claretta-san’s magic and my mind was being healed by the invincibly cute Rimu, Marina-san sent out an order.
I looked outside to see what was going on and saw water coming like a tsunami from the direction of the royal palace.
It seems that the water magic creature was not satisfied with just throwing us outside but was determined to kill us all.
Will it forgive us if we apologize?
While I was thinking about this nonsense, the Japanese-style boat was swallowed by the water and carried away. The whole area of the barrier is surrounded by water, and the killing intent is so high that even if we apologize, it is unlikely that it will forgive us.
…It’s inappropriate, but being surrounded by water is beautiful. I thought it was beautiful to look up at the sky from underwater in the Mermaid Village, but this feels even more beautiful.
It might be because of the strong sunlight in the desert and the transparency of the water magic creature.
“Wataru, can’t we escape in the Japanese-style boat?”
While I was thinking carefree things, hoping that it would not break down, Alessia-san asked me a question.
Well… I wonder how it is? Since the whole thing is enclosed, the propeller is in contact with the water. Then it should be able to get propulsion, so… I don’t know. In the end, it depends on the power of the engine.
“I’ll give it a try anyway.”
I sat back down at the helm, started the engine, and increased the speed, and the engine began to make a high-pitched sound. At the same time, the boat moved slowly forward.
Will we make it this far?
“I will try to go full throttle, so everyone, please pay attention.”
I saw everyone calm down at the sound of my voice, and then I started the engines at full throttle. The hull, which had been moving slowly due to the resistance of the water, began to accelerate all at once in the center.
It seems that the power of the engine has exceeded the resistance of the water magic creature. The ship breaks through the water and escapes from the fantastic water world into the strong sunlight of the desert.
“…Wow.”
The water magic creature is really running out of steam.
The mythical royal capital, which should have been swallowed by dry sand, is now filled with water and looks like a lake.
Where did it store all that water? The water reservoirs alone would never be able to hold it.
“Wataru. Full speed to the royal palace!”
Huh? Are we going to the royal palace under these circumstances? Maybe we should run away or wait for the water magic creature’s anger to subside.
“Alessia, why don’t we start over?”
“Huh? Why? There’s plenty of water, and Wataru, you can use your abilities as much as you want. Now is our chance.”
I see, so that’s what she’s thinking. It’s true that it’s safer to take the boat through than to go back to the palace.
It would not be a bad decision, except to escape and pretend the whole thing never happened. And the curious ladies are not modest enough to consider running away when it is safe to do so.
Yes, it’s useless to suggest running away.
“I understand.”
I gave up on the suggestion and headed for the royal palace at full speed.
“Alessia, it seems impossible.”
At first, we approached the palace smoothly, but the water-magic creature began to block the ship’s approach with all its might, creating large waves and fast currents instead of attacking along the way.
It would never let us get close. I could feel the strong will of the water magic creature.
“Hmm, then Wataru, please summon the Galette.”
I see, so if we can’t use the Japanese-style boat, we’ll use a motorboat. It may seem a bit heavy-handed to counter force with more force, but it might not be a bad choice.
Except for how to get on board.
“Even if I summon it, the Galette will be swept away in its current state. And it’s not safe to climb aboard.”
“It will be fine. If Wataru summons it to the front, I can jump to it when it comes downstream, and even though there’s no danger in jumping to it, I think I’m good enough to avoid the water.”
Hmm, it doesn’t sound like it can’t be done…
“Felicia. Put the barrier on Alessia and the others. By the way, who’s going to be on the Galette?”
“””Me!”””
Alessia-san, Marina-san, Ilma-san and Ines raised their hands cheerfully. All except Ilma-san love to maneuver the boat, so I guess they want to blast through the exotic royal capital and the royal palace in a motorboat.
As for Ilma-san… she’s probably planning to act as a stopper to secure the core and the ruins with as little damage as possible.
“Ines is my escort, so that’s out. Felicia, set up the barrier for the three of them.”
“Understood.”
Felicia put barriers on the three of them, but she seemed a little disappointed, which was a little unfortunate. Felicia must also want to steer the boat.
I feel sorry for Felicia, but I wonder why I don’t feel sorry for Ines, who sulks and says: “But I want to go too…”. Ines, I am your master in case you forgot, you should be a little more respectful.
I confirm that Felicia has set up the barrier and summoned the Galette in front of us.
The water magic creature attacks the magic circle and the summoned ship, but the indestructible effect is not just for show, so it flows safely toward us.
As the Japanese-style boat approaches Galette, the three of them jump over to it at the right moment. After making sure they were safe, the three of them boarded without even touching the water.
The barrier may have been unnecessary. Well, safety is important, so it can’t be helped.
“We’re going to try to get to the core to stir things up, so if you think you can make it, please join us at the palace.”
Alessia-san announced with a big smile on her face, and Marina-san looked unhappy at being deprived of the pilot’s seat. Ilma-san smiles as she leans back in the rear seat.
Are they going to be okay? I’m a little worried.
“Let’s go!”
Alessia-san says, ignoring my fear, and the Galette flies off at full speed.
I had never compared it directly to other boats, so I didn’t really feel it, but I guess powerboats are amazing.
It pushed forward without any resistance from the water-magic creature, which the Japanese-style boat was unable to advance. It seems that the power of the Galette is much greater than that of the water magic creature.
…..So, they said we should meet at the royal palace, but what should we do if we can’t go forward?
